The Space

Located in a quiet neighborhood at the base of Diamond Head very near Waikiki and beaches, just 10 to 15 minuet walk. Great restaurants and shops just 3 minuets down the block. And a hike into Diamond Head Crater is less than a mile. On Saturdays KCC has the best Farmers Market, with lots of great food. It is less than a mile away. There is lots to do within walking distance of here. The Zoo, Kapiolani Park, and the aquarium, all about 10 minuets walking. Weekends has an art fair on the Zoo fence.
The room has a separate entrance and a private bathroom. It also has a queen size bed, small fridge, micro, coffee pot, cable TV, wireless internet. The bus is just down the block. Parking is in front of the house. No smoking please.

  • Dana was an excellent host! Our room was clean and spacious and had everything a hotel would have and more. Her place is a 15-20 minute walk from most parts of Waikiki and very easy to find. It's also a little off the hustle and bustle of everything so you can get a quiet nights sleep. We much preferred this space to an overpriced hotel room. Thank you Dana!

  • Dana received us warmly at our arrival. She is a nice host. Her place is spacious, with plenty of privacy because of the entrance is at backside of the house. Diamond Head is a very good location, only a 15 minute walk to Waikiki Beach, but I would recommend a car to explore the island.

Everything you need is available, we liked to have cool drinks and some food in the fridge. Dana even had coffee, sugar and basics provided - very nice. A hot plate would make it perfect.
All things available you need for a great day at the beach: beach chairs, towels and beach mats.

Although the accommodation was very clean, we had big problems with ants. At first they were only in the bathroom, then also on the table in the living room and on refrigerator. Dana had already a spray for ant, but it did not really help. But worse were the cockroaches. In the darkness, they were waiting under leaves and rustling everywhere. With a lamp you can see them on the way :( Sometimes we had cockroaches in the room, in the hallway and bathroom. They are difficult to catch and very disgusting. Everyone should know that before coming here.

  • Dana is very friendly.
the room is nice with beautiful paintings, also it is private.
recommended for people to rent a car, that is more convenient to go to beaches nearby.

  • This place is spacious and has everything on it. There is a private entrance that give us a privacy. The place is quiet and the trees around gave a cool breeze, we felt relaxing and home. The place is close to Waikiki and some beaches. Dana informed us in advanced that she will be off the island, we have't a chance to meet her but her assistance, Dawn welcome and helped us. We enjoyed and had so much fun visiting the island for the first time. Mahalo Dana and Dawn.

  • I visited Honolulu area for a week and stayed at Dana's house in her wonderful room. Our experience couldn't of been better. We arrived to Honolulu extremely early before check in and she allowed us to leave all of our luggage at the home, safe and sound, until check in time. We loved staying there so much that we booked the room for one additional night. She made so many accommodations for us that we put on her last minute and through the whole process she was understanding and more than welcome to help us! We would %100 stay with Dana again! She's a wonderful person and a fantastic artist :)

  • We just returned from our one-week stay on Oahu and Dana's place was absolutely perfect. This was our first experience using airbnb and overall an extremely positive one.

Although an older home, the room was clean and comfortable with a small but functional bathroom and a surprisingly large step in shower. The room had all the amenities we were looking for along with colorful artwork that adorned the walls giving it a bright and welcoming feel. The bed linens and towels were soft, the coffee maker got a lot of use as did the small refrigerator to keep breakfast items and snack foods.

It was a bit warm the first few days but, as others have mentioned, with two large screened windows and a strong fan we had good circulation. This helped to compensate for no outside seating.

Location cannot be surpassed especially if you are not planning to have a rental car for the entire time you're visiting. Downtown Waikiki and it's beaches are about a 20 minute walk. There are also several convenient bus stops about a five minute walk from the house that will take you to downtown Waikiki, out to Diamond Head or to Hanauma Bay. If you decide to use the bus system, keep in mind the frequency of service decreases after 6 PM. The "DaBus" app on our smart phone came in handy for "real time" bus arrival times or you can download timetables. We also rented a car for 3 days and there was plenty of parking space along the street in front of the home.

As far as hospitality, Dana is very warm and friendly and easily accessible when needed. We also grew very fond of her cute little dog Foxy.

In summary, the room provided a homey and intimate space that was very reasonably priced for a much-needed getaway. Thank you Dana and we hope to return to your lovely rental on our next trip to Oahu.

  • Great neighborhood. Checkout the Diamond Head Market and Deli. Awesome! Also recommend Uncle Bo's and the Rainbow Drive In (which was on Diner's Drive Ins and Dives). Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. The chairs are wrought iron, so this is a great place to stay when you just need a place to sleep while you are seeing other sights. Street parking made coming and going easy.

  • We stayed with Dana for 5 nights and it was perfect for our needs. Dana was lovely and even did a load of washing for us as we had been travelling for 3 weeks prior. The room was very private and clean and had everything to make our stay comfortable including all toiletries, coffee making facilities and even beach towels and an umbrella if necessary. She was very helpful when needed but still respected our privacy. The beach is an easy 10 to15 minute walk and there are buses and eateries around the corner from the house. I would definitely stay with Dana again and would recommend her to others. Thanks for having us Dana.
