A colorful casita with character

A 1920s Spanish bungalow with Mexican folklorico decor, a gas fireplace, and a private patio

A stay guests keep coming back to

Guests describe it as one of the best stays they've had, and many say they plan to return
Unwind in a cozy colorful casita in this light-filled 1920s Spanish bungalow decorated with Mexican folklorico. Take a walk into Little Italy for dinner. Or to a show at the Old Globe. What’s best, is how close you are to so much, all without needing a car. A very small single car garage is provided, think compact car. Street parking is free but challenging at times. The house is located directly below the incoming flight path. You are encouraged to read the reviews regarding this.Ideal for four.

The space
It's an updated 1920s Spanish revival bungalow, decorated in a Mexican folklorico theme, with modern amenities. It is a smaller home with a great floor plan for 4 people. There are 2 en suite bedrooms however one bedroom is significantly larger. The larger bedroom has the shower only bathroom. The double bedroom has the shower/tub bathroom. It has great light and lovely bay breezes, and is within walking distance to Balboa Park, Little Italy, the harbor, downtown and is in the middle of San Diegos culinary explosion. It is an urban environment with planes, trains, and people from all walks of life. There is a nice view from the small front porch to see the sunset and bay beyond. The house sits one flight above the street with a security screen door so you will feel and be very safe.

Guest access
Private, detached 2 bedroom bungalow with small outdoor patio with table and chairs and gas BBQ. Guests have access to small 1 car garage( 95" wide x 15.5' long),or free street parking, fully stocked kitchen, linens, towels, beach towels, washer and dryer, automatic gas fireplace, air conditioning, wi-fi. House sits up off the street with security screen doors. Romantic and fun!

Other things to note
The home is situated below the incoming flight path. Each window has two sets of double pane windows. The incoming planes are audible. I encourage you to read the reviews from other guests regarding this. Initially the planes are very obvious( outside, not so much inside) and by day 2, forgotten. The airport is open for plane takeoffs and landings from approximately 6:30 am until 11:30 pm.. Any airlines that violate those hours are forced to pay strict fines ($15,000 and above). So random planes occasionally land after 11:30 but it is not frequent. Many of my guests have felt the airplanes added an exciting element. And the central walkable location more than makes up for the airport proximity.

Also, the garage is very small ( 95" wide and 15.5 ' long), If your car is too large for the garage there is random street parking, sometimes, it is less convenient, like a block away. The most convenient transportation would be to take an uber and /or take advantage of this great location and walk everywhere. There are red curbs on the corners so pulling up and unloading is super easy.

Located 2.7 miles from San Diego airport.
Located 1.1 miles from SantaFe Train Depot.
San Diego Transit (city bus) has stop directly across the street.

My San Diego TOT is cert #614042.

Neighborhood highlights

This is an eclectic neighborhood where many homes are over 100 years old, including this one. The house is within walking distance of Balboa Park, Little Italy, the Embarcadero, and Downtown. It is also very close to the airport(5-10 min). You’ll feel safe in your new environment because the home sits above the street(1 flight of stairs) and has security screen doors. Watching the sunset over the bay, from the front porch, is lovely.

My work: Interior Designer
I'm a native San Diegan and just love this city. I raised my family here and I'm lucky to say most of them stayed. I like to garden, ride bikes, walk, go to the beach, and have friends and family over for yummy dinners. I'm currently an interior designer and had a lot of fun putting together this house. It marries my love of San Diego with gardening and interior design.
