The space
Your Front room can accommodate 4, if you & friends are traveling as a group, or you're a family with a couple of kids, parents get the queen bed and the kids can fight over who gets the top bunk :~)
If you are a couple just traveling, there are 5 bikes available in the shed for rides around the neighborhood or lakefront bike-rides.
Your bathroom is privet and your own; Sheets are soft, clean and playfully miss-matched.
We are on a usually quiet street, right downtown and just a short 3min bike ride or 10 minute walk to the lakefront and plenty of good food!
We do have a tendency to light incense
and a sage leaf or two periodically for yoga or meditation practices if you are sensitive to that, just request we forgo it and we will accommodate.
Monday and Wednesday 6:-6:30pm meditation takes place in the main space, guests are always welcome, but not required. Y'all rest, recoup, enjoy your visit whatever your plans while visiting Lake Chuck.

Guest access
Most of the house and back yard are yours to enjoy. My dad was the resident artist here and enjoyed sketching, drawing and doodling in the back rm. and shed so, they're a bit messier than other shared spaces. We also have a pavilion and a little goldfish pond on property for you to reflect and enjoy. There is picnic table and fire pit as well. for evening gatherings when weather permits.

During your stay
There may be fun events going on, and like we mentioned, the Common House concept is friendly and collective. After my father's passing I travel sometimes, and, sometimes am at home. It's just luck-of-the-draw that I may/may not be able interact.
Also, there are two CommonHouse Cats: 'Bodhi' (the little B/W guy, and, fat Lou. We have Benadryl on the bathroom first aid shelf if you need.

Other things to note
If ever you have some suggestions for us to improve the CommonHouse experience, just let us know.
Look forward to seeing you in Lake Chuck !
- and meet you at the coffeepot :~)

This is me & my dad at his birthday party in 2014 at the Willow's, (Website hidden by Airbnb) 'Ogden' was the proud proprietor of Common House, and his three season art studio, it was too cold in the winter, he would return home to Hawaii where he lived since the '60's. It was his dream to be apart of something that would become bigger than himself; so, to grow CH into an artful and spiritual community of mindfulness and creativity, we hope to be offering classes in Tai Chi, Yoga and meditation someday. This has always been our ambitious plan for CommonHouse. We aim to even have workshops in acting, writing, art and podcasting. And, looking forward to having a sizable garden in the future as well. So, all that remains a ‘vision under construction’ at present; our big, beautiful, blank canvas, is slowly coming into view and always anticipating splashes of gift and story. We do hold A few TaiChi classes on the platform Monday afternoons and Friday mornings and meditation Monday evenings. Ogden was a lifetime artist, dabbling in the abstract at the latter part of his life. (Check out the fun 'fridge-magnets' for a small donation) ~ Sadly, we lost Ogden in the spring of '17 and his presents is greatly missed, and his essence is everywhere. Though his art legacy fills the house - please, enjoy the space, his art, philosophy books and his spirit energy. Some of his prints have price stickers on them. If you see something else you like, let me know which one - I'm letting them go for the cost of reproduction, always working, to “let go of the attachment, yet hold onto the lesson". ~ We also have a kitty named 'Bodhi' who enjoys Common House and works hard to be a joyful ambassador. My father and I are both from the Oahu originally, so anywhere on the pacific rim is a favorite travel destination. Also, Canada and New Zealand hold stunning travel philosophies as well. I, D'ellen, had planned on staying in Lake Charles for a year ... 14 years ago. I love this town; the biggest little town I know! So Come! . . . Drop in on a Yoga class. Have a Primo Gourmet Hot-dog at Botsky's on Pujo. Or, ride the bicycles along the lakefront at sunset - springtime is packed with festivals, beautiful weather and crawfish ! Visit Lake Charles! The secret is out! :~)
