The Space

The colorful city of Marrakesh with its charming inhabitants and this magnificent Riad will enchant you. When you rent our Riad, you always book the entire house. There will be no other guests, just you and your family and friends.

When you contact us, please let us know a little bit about yourself so that we won't be feeling like we are going to welcome a total stranger, thank you!

LOCATION: The riad is centrally located between two famous ancient palaces -- the «Palais Bahia» and the «Palais Badii» -- in one of the most authentic areas of the Medina (old city) of Marrakesh. The famous «Jemaa El Fna» Square is only five minutes away and a guarded car park, where you can easily get a taxi to discover Marrakesh and its surroundings, is located close by.

RENT: The daily price is 160€ for the entire house for up to 8 persons. Each additional persons above 8 will be charged an additional 20€ per night. When you rent this riad you always book the entire house. There will be no other guests, just you and your family and friends.

THE HOUSE: The riad dates back to the 17th century. It was entirely renovated in 2011 with traditional Moroccan construction techniques. Examples of Moroccan handicraft, such as tadelakt (Moroccan wall painting technique with colors), sculpted plaster and wooden ceilings are found in every room. Lamps, furniture, mirrors, bedspreads, curtains, etc. found in the riad have all been crafted by Moroccan artisans, some of them living next door.

ROOMS: The total surface of the house is about 400m2 and it can comfortably accommodate 12 persons. It includes three bedrooms, two large suites, and a separate apartment on the roof terrace. Each bedroom and suite has its own bathroom and is equipped with reversible air-conditioning. The dining room, a large kitchen, a Moroccan chill out area (bouh) and two bedrooms are located on the ground floor. Two large suites and a large bedroom are on the first floor, while the large roof terrace and the apartment are on the top floor.

LIVING OUTDOOR: a large patio with two fountains and four orange trees occupies the ground floor. On the first floor, there is a chill out balcony with a view on the patio. On the top floor, the large roof terrace of about 200m2 is the best place to enjoy the sunshine during the day and the deliciously breezy evenings of Marrakesh. This is a place for relaxation and meditation, where you can watch dozens of storks nesting on the nearby walls of the «Palais Badii». All plants found on the terrace and in the patio are typical of Morocco. The house is the home of bougainvillea, hibiscus, cactuses, orange trees, laurels and palms trees.

STAFF AND SERVICES: Bed sheets, towels and usual amenities such as hairdryers are provided in each bedroom. There is a French-speaking housekeeper who also understands and speaks a little English. He has a separated bedroom in the house and is available any time during your stay to assist you and make sure you are enjoying your vacation. A French-speaking caretaker comes in every day to clean the main areas and, if you wish, can also make the rooms. Meals (typical Moroccan dishes) can be ordered for an additional fee if you want to eat at home. Both caretakers are extremely reliable people, who have been taking good care of the house for a long time.

INTERNET ACCESS: Free Internet access (email hidden) connection is available.

TRANSPORTATION: A private shuttle can be reserved to pick you up from the airport or the train station. The price (one way trip) is 15€ (for up to 8 persons). The shuttle is also available for sightseeing trips you might want to make around Marrakesh. Taking our shuttle is a good way to get to know the driver and the vehicle in case you plan such a trip and want it to be arranged by us.

  • Aleks' riad is really as gorgeous as they say!
There were 7 of us (in mid march) for 4 days and staying in the riad was one of the best parts of our trip!
The riad is 10/15 minutes from "la place". We haven't seen it as a negative thing because every time you go out you can see the real life of people and not just tourists.
The riad is just as you can see in the pictures, but when you see it in real person is even more impressive because the ceilings are very high and the room are larger than they look online.
The home has been restored a couple of years ago: everything is new and absolutely clean and tidy. The style is ethnic without being overdecorated, antique but with a modern touch.
Sheets and towels are good as quantity and quality, the mattress are amazing.
We had breakfast everyday in the riad: it was really fullfilling and we could have skipped the lunch.
We enjoyed the dinner once and it was the second best meal there! (The best was at the Fondouk)
The plus that you don't expect is the kind, smiling presence of Ahmed and Fatima. They are always ready to find solutions to your problems and to cheer you up with an amazing mint tea.
For example, Fatima and her sister take care of our 2 girls taking them to the Hammam near home, because they didn't know where to go and what to do.
When we needed to go out for dinner to a restaurant in the very deep of the souk, Ahmed took us there and -at the end- he came and lead us back home (...just like children, I know, but the souk at night is a labyrinth!).
I was so sorry that just one person in our group could speak French, because we couldn't express all our gratitude to Ahmed and Fatima for everythig they did for us!
If I really have to say something that wasn't excellent, I would say the internet connection and sometimes some smell from the pipes (but Marrakech sewerage system is more than 1000 years old, so this must be a general problem). Also, the last meters to reach the riad weren't nice in the night, but it was just a feeling, really nothing happened when we were there.
If we return to Marrakech (I hope it happens soon because Marrakech is amazing) we would definitely try to stay again atl Aleks' riad!

  • We have had a fantastic 5-days stay at RiadLAkLAk and recommend it highly to anyone.
We were 13 Norwegians - 7 children and 6 grownups who all had our little private worlds in this spacious and lovely house. All the rooms are unique and complete with all you need to spend time and enjoy.
Ahmed and Fatima are lovely hosts and warm generous people who helped organize trips and activities and gave good advise about Marrakech. We were especially grateful for their lovely contact with our children. We recommend to have breakfast served on the roof like we did.
Staying at RiadLakLAk has been a truly rich, luxurious and inspiring experience. Marrakech is mysterious and fantastic.
We would love to go back.

  • Riad Laklak is a beautiful and well presented house. The bedrooms are wonderful and the communal are areas are great. The rooftop terrace is private and good for catching some sun, unfortunately November weather was too cold for night time star gazing. The photos are fab but the reality is impressive.
It is central to the royal palaces, souks and restaurants and not too far to the main square and beyond. I would strongly recommend trips to the sea and the mountains if you have time.

Ahmed and his two lady helpers were brilliant. They provided excellent and varied breakfasts and some dinners suitable vegetarians and non-veggies alike. His advice, directions and local knowledge proved him to be an excellent host.

  • We had the most amazing holiday at Riad Lak Lak. It is without a doubt the most beautiful, relaxing and enchanting place we've stayed. We went as a group of 8 and all of us were blown away by it beauty (the pictures don't do it justice). We all had huge rooms and suites (big enough to be apartments), with the comfiest beds and gorgeous en suite bathrooms (which had fresh towels every day, and rose petals when we arrived).

Aleks was incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble! He provided lots of really helpful information for us and organised our airport pick up and a delicious dinner on our arrival.

Ahmed and Fatima (the housekeepers) need a special mention. The holiday wouldn't have been the same without them! Fatima made the most incredible dinner and breakfast for us, and was a constant helping hand and around the house, nothing was too much trouble! Ahmed was fantastic, he helped us all through our stay, whether it was organising trips, driver, information, and just being a lovely helpful person to have around! They were both incredibly generous and went above and beyond to help us have a wonderful stay. Even giving my girlfriend a present on her birthday. Thank you both for making our holiday so relaxing!

I would highly recommend staying here, and will definitely like to return. It's in a great location right in the medina, within easy walking distance of the square and souks. Plus has lots of nice restaurants and bars near by. Most of all it's an oasis of tranquility in amongst the hustle and bustle of the Medina!

  • We had an amazing stay at Riad LakLak. The place is just as magical as it looks from the pictures, being a hidden away gem in the old Jewish quarters. The place is so very pleasant, nice, clean, and quiet, and we were so well looked after by Ahmed and Nadia, that we could not have asked for anything more. It was a perfect stay.

We were seven people staying in the Riad, sleeping one in all but one of the rooms, but the rooms are really very spacious, and there would be more than enough place for a couple to stay in each of the rooms; one of the rooms also had an additional large bed in a separate part of the suit, together with an additional separate living room! That room would have been perfect for a family with smaller children.

Overall, we had a most pleasant stay, and I would certainly recommend this place to anyone; I, for one, know for sure where I will stay next time I am in Marrakesh!

I have been in love with Marrakech, its inhabitants and Moroccan artwork for many years. The first time I was struck by the beauty of Morocco was when, after hitchhiking from Switzerland, I arrived in Tangier in 1979.
