Interaction with Guests
As much as they like ;
Gigiri, where the guest house is located is very green and leafy. It is also very safe and makes it ideal for walks and easy strolls to nearby eateries and restaurants
Shopping centers and eateries are easy to access. Public transport not so much. You will require a taxi to take you to and from the airport
We are generally very easy and the same rules you would find in a larger hotel chain apply. We strive to accommodate and anticipate our guests needs
I felt very comfortable at Daisy's place. It was very close to my meetings and you can walk to the UN Campus. The place is as shown in the pictures. Communication is good and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I will be happy to come back anytime. Internat connections can be unstable at times in Nairobi.
The Daisy Home is very comfortable and conveniently located within walking distance (about 20 minutes) of the UN compound. I had the room located immediately next to the front door, which was rather noisy at times, particularly if the TV was on in the living room. I would recommend opting for one of the upstairs rooms. The room itself was functional, but rather stripped down. For example, there were no shades over the lightbulbs, and there were no screens on the windows.
The bed was quite comfortable, however, and the breakfasts in the morning were substantial. I only ate dinner there once, but it was a very good value compared to the surrounding options. The staff were also all extremely friendly and helpful.
I would recommend the Daisy Home, but discourage the first floor room.
While the accommodation was clean and the staff were friendly and very helpful, we were housed in converted servants quarters, with a somewhat dodgy water supply and shower arrangement. This does not exactly qualify as 'luxurious' and the header really is misleading in this regard. The room was pretty small for two people. The location is very convenient to the UN facilities and the US Embassy,
Rachael lived here for about two weeks and loved it. The building is conveniently located near most embassies, shopping and public transportation. The attendants are very friendly and the neighborhood is safe. Rachael even was provided assistance in terms of transportation to and from the house and for lunch and dinner on particular days. Overall, it's a great place to live!
I stayed at Daisy House for a few nights whilst working in Nairobi. It's a lovely house only 10 minutes drive from Westlands. The rooms are large and comfortable and Mary the house keeper is a lovely lady who looked after me and organised a take away for me one night and arranged reasonable cabs for me whenever I needed them. I was very safe and comfortable there and would certainly recommend it to others. It's much more reasonable than staying in the hotels in the centre of town and it feels like a home.
Though I don't have the experience to compare this establishment to other places in Nairobi, I can speak very highly of it—in particular of the staff. The room itself, including the bathroom, left little to be desired. The location is within 10 minutes walk of the UN gate, and taxis are easy to find or call (the staff eagerly attempts to do things like this for you). The entire establishment includes a beautiful garden, with plenty of places to sit outside and enjoy. Breakfast in the morning is largely at your discretion, with the staff willing to prepare anything you request (mostly eggs, sausage, cereal, bananas—things like that). As I was there on business, I requested an iron for my clothes, and they insisted upon doing it for me. There is a guard at the front gate 24 hours a day, and they were relatively tolerant of my tendency to return in the middle of the night.
The only slight downside, I might mention, is the lack of proximity to stores/shops/restaurants. The closest is the Village Market, which is a fantastic facility, but which requires a 25 minute walk, or a 5 minute taxi ride. All in all, not so bad, really.
