Stay in a private, modern room overlooking view of the bend in the James River that named Richmond - spectacular shower with 6 heads to relax you. Located in Church Hill is a 18th/19th Century section of Richmond. This Italianate house, built in 1879 - updated 2013, is located where bankers and merchants built their stately homes. It's back porch overlooks the James River and is near Libby Park, monuments, and cobble stone streets. Walk to a variety of restaurants.

The space
Second floor bedroom with private porch, high on a hill, overlooking the James River -- an occasional eagle will fly overhead, but while waiting for the glimpse of an eagle, the gardens and view of the James River will take your breath away. Besides being a lovely home to stay (please see pics), there is also an exceptionally landscaped yard to enjoy wine and cheese on a gorgeous evening. Living room, dining room have working gas fireplaces and are available for small social gatherings for a fee -- glassware and dishes provided for up to 15 -- serving platter provided. Kitchen is updated and well equipped for your event.

Guest access
Private guest room with full bath in suite and separate back stairs for more privacy if needed. Speciality Kuerig coffee and tea set up in the room. Access to kitchen and other living areas, and a therapeutic stream shower on the lower level if available for your enjoyment. Make use of the living/dinning room for a catered dinner, party or business meeting. The possibilities are endless! Get creative!

Other things to note
Located in the upscale, and gentrified Church Hill district of Richmond, minutes from the State Capitol, you are well located to access any area of the city of Richmond. Walk to MCV, VCU, or Shockoe Bottom Farmers Market. And just a short drive to Carytown, University of Richmond, the Fan, history museums galore-- all are within a few minutes drive. Less than 15 minutes to Staples Mill, Midlothian, the West End, and less than 1/2 mile from my home (walking distance) there is a Farm Fresh, CVS, restaurants, shops, bars, etc.

Church Hill is a community of restored historic homes. It has recently been named as one of the up and coming communities in the US! Many local restaurants to choose from, with-in walking distance. One was recently distinguished with the James Beard Award! Each morning a special treat will await you--a pastry from one of our most famous local bakeries that was written up in Bon Appetit Magazine and the New York Times. Gluten free options available, just let me know your preference. This is truly is a very special area to stay! Tor train buffs, are active train tracks, at the bottom of the hill - fun to watch and hear.

Had a fabulous position as Staff Director for a US Congress, Small Business subcommittee -- followed by Department of Defense, Public Affairs employment. I'm now retired and spending my time in the garden, learning to paint in soft pastels and oil and taking care of two mutts.

During your stay
My home is large and well separated to accommodate air bnb guests. I enjoy lively conversation and am helpful to suggest where to eat, shop, things to do, yet I'm also gone often each night and day either visiting friends, enjoying musical venues/events, and spending time with my family--at their homes ;). I have a private art studio in my home, and I'm often working on my art many hours of the day, and you won't know I'm even there. Art is truly my passion, and if you want an art lesson while you are here, let me know! I love to share my passion with others, but of course, only if you ask.:)
Privacy, and you feeling welcome and comfortable is my primary focus. This location is great for a single person, a couple for a romantic retreat, yet my home can accommodate up to 8 people and do rent out the house completely. Please inquire.
