Nestled in the woods 90 minutes North of Boston (and 20 minutes North of Concord, New Hampshire) this newly renovated 800 square foot (75 sq meter) passive solar 'barn' is ideal for short getaways and longer holiday escapes to explore New England.
This cottage/barn is newly converted to a Scandinavian influenced modern design open concept bedroom loft with adjacent room and Futon bed on main floor. Can sleep 6 comfortably. Has a skylight, is furnished and has a fully equipped kitchen. Designed by and for my daughter, Nell.
Set back from road and very private, the property boasts loads of light and hardwood floors throughout - in addition to a greenhouse for soaking up the sun.

Other Things to Note
Beach chairs, paddle games and a "rustic" fire pit are there for your use.
We expect guests to respect our cottage, its contents and our surrounding property.
No smoking indoors, proper disposal of trash in recycle bins is appreciated in addition to leaving the cottage in as to the state in which you found it as possible.
If you bring a pet and you are going to be away from the house for any length of time they need to be crated. Their is a leash law in the town of Canterbury but it is fine to let them run on my property.
We had such a wonderful time at Tory's place! The heat was on when we arrived, welcoming us to a beautiful house full of clever windows and cozy blankets and everything we could have needed. Tory was so accessible and helpful in scheduling our visit, and we're already hoping to come back and visit in the springtime when we can take advantage of the fire pit.
We spent an autumn weekend at Tory's cottage. It is in a lovely location just a mile from the Canterbury Shaker village, set in its own garden. The cottage was very comfortable and we'll equipped. The cottage is very true to the photos on the website. It was really nice to meet Tory. She went out of her way to accommodate our schedule. I would highly recommend her cottage and would love to stay there again.
A wonderful host! Beautiful place in the woods, 25 min from town, peaceful and calm! We all loved the experience!
Toni's cottage was ideal for visiting the Canterbury environs. We were able to visit the Loudon race track for NASCAR race weekend and Meadowbrook pavilion for a concert, all within 30 mins of this location.
The cottage is very modern and has all amenities for stays. The kitchen is the centrepiece of this cottage and was phenomenal for preparing and serving meals. The location and farm were country fine!
Highly recommended for visiting a quiet garden setting.
We had a wonderful stay at Tory's cottage. It is clean and beautifully furnished. The area is so quiet - the perfect hideaway! The kitchen is fully stocked, and the internet worked perfectly. We went for an amazing hike at Franconia Notch State Park (only 1 hour away) and looked around the Canterbury Shaker Village. I couldn't get over how wonderfully green and wooded New Hampshire is. Amazing! There are several huge supermarkets nearby in Concord so you can stock up on food on the way. Tory was an incredible host. Very communicative, friendly and gave us all the information we needed. We highly recommend staying here, and hope to return someday!
I would highly recommend staying at the Shaker Road Guest House to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend away or in need of a place to stay while on a business trip, which happened to be the case for me. The house was amazingly clean, well outfitted for all your needs and, best of all, well managed. There was a small issue while up there, but Tory extremely responsive and fixed the situation quickly (even while being in NC).
I hope to have another stay at the house soon.
We loved staying at Tory's guesthouse. It was just the combination of a clean, modern style in a rustic private setting that we had hoped for. We didn't get a chance to use the sauna (next time!), but did enjoy cooking dinner on the outdoor grill, visiting the nearby Shaker Village, and taking advantage of the guesthouse's location to visit the White Mountains, hike Mount Major (on Tory's recommendation—thanks!), and shop at area antique stores. We were greeted with a pan of brownies from Tory, who was warm and friendly but also gave us enough space to feel like we were there on our own with plenty of privacy. The only downside was that despite her best efforts to remedy the problem, the internet was out the entire visit. All in all, not a terrible loss. We had a great stay and look forward to going back again soon!
Greetings - Thank you for taking a look at our property. I have lived in the area since the mid-70's, and as much as I love traveling and seeing the world, I love coming home to the area and the fresh air and open skies of New Hampshire after being away. I grew up in Connecticut and have been a professional in education on many levels since returning from the Peace Corps in Ethiopia in 1973. I currently live on the property up the hill in the main house on the property - don't worry - privacy I appreciate and respect - so you'll only see me to welcome you or when you need assistance with something. I hope you will come enjoy our country retreat. We love the space and think you will too...
