Not recommended!! The place was not as the one as seen in the pictures when we booked. When we arrived the place was really dirty so we had to run to the grocery store to buy cleaning supplies!! Then got home and there was no water and this went on for all our stay. The reason why we booked an apartment is because we were traveling for work but we took our kids with us but turned out to be a nightmare. We travel for work all over the world and we usually adapt really well but this was the worst experience ever.
In top of it , there was not hot water, and when I told the owner that , he told me to turn on the adapter in the shower, so I did but instead to get hot water I got electric shock for the shower handle. I honestly freaked out and never turned on again, too dangerous for myself and my family. So even the few times we had water, we took cold water shower, which I guess is better than electric shock, right?
The kitchen pans were horrible, you need to get arrested to keep that kind of used staff! And kitchenware were only a set of three (we were four). Again. We adapt really well and only what we usually expect is a clean place and water (at does not even matter if is hot or cold) but at least water !
So if you are looking for these things This is NOT the place for you. And again was not the one seen on the pictures on airbnb which was upstairs and with green and blue wall, our had white (well I think it was white...too dirty to tell) walls and was downstairs and really dark.
Everything was really frustrating especially when you travel with family and for work! Last , when I contact the owner (and I was really patient! I only contacted him almost at the end of our trip) when I was really upset as I had to go to a business meeting and once again , there was no water (I had to go to,a restaurant to eat so I could brush my teeth!) well he did not even get back to me, the only thing he did is that the last day to send his assistant to reimburse us the "big" amount of 30$ Total! I though it was a joke, anyway I did not even get upset as , at that point , we were so happy to leave that horrible, dirty place. Even though we are still in Managua but in a totally different place. Simple , clean and with water!
I I enjoyed Mauricio’s flat. My stay was everything I expected. The apartment was clean and had a 24 hour guard, which is a good perk, I would say. Although, I never felt unsafe in Managua or Nicaragua. Mauricio’s assistant was ready to help with everything and I felt very well taken care off. The apartment is a little bit far from the downtown Managua but it is close to several Malls & entertainment. In fact, Managua’s downtown is sort of abandoned after the 1972 earthquake and can be seen in a couple of hours and there are no restaurants or bars there. The apartment had AC at no extra charge (which is uncommon in Nicaragua as many hotels charge extra for AC. Electricity is expensive in Nicaragua). It also had HOT water and not lukewarm that is very common in Central America. In short, Mauricio’s flat is a good accommodation option for budget conscious travelers.
