About This Listing
This lovely double room can have 2 single beds put into it instead of the double bed, on request. however as I have to haul beds up and down stairs , if you require 2 single beds the booking needs to be 6 weeks or more long ....
A lovely bright clean room, which can have a double bed or 2 single beds on request is in a friendly Dublin house. This room would suit somebody looking for either a short term or long term let, or a couple. The house is a 1930s period property and would be fairly typical of the type of house that a lot of Irish people live in.....,This room would suit a short let or if you are thinking of a longer term you would be very welcome..... I work from home a lot so will be on hand to help you out with any questions. You will have the run of the house, and will be given a door key so you can come and go as you wish, and when you are not out exploring the city you are welcome to use the kitchen to cook in, or the sitting room to curl up by the open fire with our old dog and slightly mad cat ,and a good book, or watch some telly or avail of the WiFi .If the weather is fine you can sit out in the very private garden and even have a BBQ if you like. Located about 4 kms from the city center ,in a quiet residential area, which has supermarkets, a post office, a chemist, and parks on the doorstep and a selection of restaurants and local pubs about 15 away . Or if you want to pop into the city, the bus stops just at the end of our little cul de sac and it will have you there in approx 25 mins. .The room itself has many little extras, like a kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits if you fancy a late night snack, lots of books to peruse ,maps of the area so you won't get lost, practical things like an electric blanket to keep you cosy, towels, extra bedding , pillows,. Breakfast is included in the price ,I will provide lots of breakfast items i.e tea, coffee, bread, eggs , yogurt, honey etc, and you are welcome to cook it yourself at any time you want, so if you fancy breakfast at 7am or 3pm that is just fine, ...... So we look forward to your visit ..............Note my house is a normal Dublin house, it is not a hotel or hostel, I try really hard to make you feel at home and to give you as much info about getting around Dublin as possible....I am very happy to do long term as well as short, so if you think that this would suit let me know...regards barbara

Interaction with Guests
The numbers 9 and 54a buses go from my house directly into the city center, ...there are other buses which go across town
Other Things to Note
This is in general a happy, clean, friendly, and safe house
no smoking in the house , but you may smoke in the garden...and if you could just keep things clean like you find them, it would be great
It was perfect! Actually, more than perfect. Barbara's house is really pretty, cosy and appealing and it felt like home since the moment I entered the door for the first time. Her animals are amazingly cute and all the other guests were really nice during my stay. Living with Barbara and her fantastic daughter was a real pleasure and there is no doubt that I will book one of Barbara's rooms again.
How lucky can you get? My first try using Airbnb has changed my traveling life forever!
I stayed with Barbara for 5 months while studying at Griffith College and loved it!
Thank you, Barbara!
From the moment I arrived Barbara made sure that I felt at home. She is one of the sweetest and kindest people that I’ve ever met and I’m so happy that I chose to live with her during my stay! Barbara is very outgoing, kind and easy to talk to but is also very respectful of her guest’s privacy.
The atmosphere in the house made me feel like part of a family and not just a guest.
I loved my room which was spacious for me as I was staying there alone for most of my stay but easily accommodates two. Even though we were 5 girls living in the house and sharing one bathroom that was never a problem and I could always take my shower when I wanted.
Breakfast was included and I had a kettle in my room for those long hours of studying.
I had full access to the kitchen (own cupboard and shelf in the refrigerator), washing machine and was always welcome to join everyone else in the living room.
The house was located perfectly for my as it is close to Griffith College. The city centre is only 15 minutes by bus and there is a bus stop very close to the house (busses every 15 minutes).
Barbara’s house has become a home away from home and I can’t wait to come home again in the future!
This was my first time using Airbnb and Barbara was the best host you could ask for! I came to Dublin to study and was staying at her place while looking for an apartment - she's been helping a lot, and giving good advices. She makes you feel at home and if I could, I would have stayed more. I recommend her to anyone who would come to Dublin in the future.
For practical details: there is a bus stop on the other side of the road, and it's only a 10/15 minutes ride to the city center. Barbara lives in a very quiet neighborhood - and there's a small supermarket + an ATM 5 minutes walk away.
I had a lovely stay at Barbara's, the room is spacious, clean and chic, it includes breakfast. The neighborhood is safe and it's just one bus ride from the city center. I recommend this listing !
My 8 year old son & I were visiting Dublin on a holiday / researching family history over a period of nine days. I found Barbara to be very welcoming & accommodating of all guests into her home. I found her to be always aware of & responsive to the needs of her guests. One night, she was happy to include me in a fun, impromptu social gathering at her home, which highlighted for me the true hospitality for which Irish people are well known. She communicated promptly with me from the time I first sent a reservation request and assisted me with travel-related decisions in the months before we arrived (although she was in the middle of her own travel preparations). She continued to provide local area suggestions whenever asked throughout our stay. She keeps a variety of tourist pamphlets & travel guides on hand for easy reference. Barbara's home is situated very conveniently close to the city of Dublin by regular buses. It is also an easy trip to both Dublin seaport & airport. Taxis are plentiful. I would certainly recommend future guests to consider staying at Barbara's home. Her home is a very friendly, relaxed and easy-going Irish family home.

About the Host, Barbara
Hi I'm Barbara, and I am a great fan of AIRBNB , I first used it myself to find accommodation in Brooklyn a while ago, and it was such a good experience I decided to become a host, and now I am a total convert. I have been letting out a room on either a long or short term basis for many years , but just love the Airbnb way of doing things. My favorite things are travel and anything art/design/craft related, My background is as a theatre designer, but these days I run a small home based business making hand made craft kits for kids,.........Planet Purple Kids.........I love meeting new people from different parts of the world, and would like you to feel at home here. ....If you are new to airbnb and maybe a bit nervous, go on try it , really it is so much better than any standard bnb or hostel
