Set in a ten acre birch wood bordered by two burns, adjacent to the Glen Urquhart forest and close to the Corrimony Cairn and RSPB Reserve famous for the rare Black Grouse, the males called Black Cock display on the woodland edges in secluded parts of the Highlands. Our self-catering house is called after the female, the Grey Hen.
A lovely big house, sheltered courtyard, large outbuilding with table tennis and dartboard. Double garage and ten acres of private woodland leading into many more acres of wild Scotland
Interaction with guests
Our lovely local housekeeper prepares the house for guests and lives near enough to sort out problems but otherwise you're on your own for a peaceful holiday
Glen Urquhart leads from the Great Glen at Drumnadrochit on Loch Ness (8 miles away) to Cannich at the head of Strathglass (3 miles) and is a perfect location for walking and touring. The new Affric-Kintail long-distance trail passes along the glen.
Buses from Inverness to Cannich via Drumnadrochit stop at the Corrimony turn, 300 yards from our house.
Other things to note
The house has two twin-bedded rooms and two king/superking rooms, all ensuite. There is a playroom/TV room upstairs with pool table and sitting room and dining room downstairs.
Please leave the house tidy and don't even think of smoking unless you are on fire.
Please feed the birds.
Well-behaved dogs welcome downstairs only and sleeping in the large warm utility room.
