Description

The space

Set in a ten acre birch wood bordered by two burns, adjacent to the Glen Urquhart forest and close to the Corrimony Cairn and RSPB Reserve famous for the rare Black Grouse, the males called Black Cock display on the woodland edges in secluded parts of the Highlands. Our self-catering house is called after the female, the Grey Hen.

Guest access

A lovely big house, sheltered courtyard, large outbuilding with table tennis and dartboard. Double garage and ten acres of private woodland leading into many more acres of wild Scotland

Interaction with guests

Our lovely local housekeeper prepares the house for guests and lives near enough to sort out problems but otherwise you're on your own for a peaceful holiday

The neighborhood

Glen Urquhart leads from the Great Glen at Drumnadrochit on Loch Ness (8 miles away) to Cannich at the head of Strathglass (3 miles) and is a perfect location for walking and touring. The new Affric-Kintail long-distance trail passes along the glen.

Getting around

Buses from Inverness to Cannich via Drumnadrochit stop at the Corrimony turn, 300 yards from our house.

Other things to note

The house has two twin-bedded rooms and two king/superking rooms, all ensuite. There is a playroom/TV room upstairs with pool table and sitting room and dining room downstairs.
