Sam's apartment is a delight to stay in and is extremely well located. There's a certain magic in the view of the park that changes ever so slightly during the day. There is definite pleasure in enjoying a walk through the park and then going straight on shopping for exquisite food at the Whole Foods Market just around the corner. If you are travelling with a teenager you will definitely enjoy the variety of fun shops just a 5 minute walk from the apartment. As for the public transport, besides the tube, there's a bus stop 2 minutes from the apartment that connects to oxford street as well as trafalgar square. We were very well welcomed by the houskeeper and stayed in contact with Sam, the host, via e-mail and text. We found the flat both elegantly furnished and cozy at the same time. It was an amazing trip and I absolutely recommend this flat.
We spent 12 wonderful days at Sam's flat in London.
The flat is in a wonderful location, overlooking Kensington Gardens, very close to Hyde Park and with easy connections to central London via tube or buses. It is very clean and has beautiful furniture. High street Kensington has a lot of shops/supermarkets within walking distance and everything is very convenient.
We were a little worried that the flat would be too small for us (2 adults + 2 young children) but it was actually fine. The living room is quite big (where our older son could sleep on the sofa) and the bedroom is a little small but was enough to hold a double bed + a cot (which Sam was kind enough to supply us with) for our younger one. The sofa might not be big enough for an adult though.
The only downside was that the washing machine broke just before we arrived so we had to use the local launderette. Also, the TV is not set for the local British channels so if you're a big fan of British TV you'd better talk to Sam about it. Also, the kitchen holds only very basic kitchenware so if you're planning to cook a lot you'd better ask Sam to supply some stuff.
Sam was kind enough to drop by twice and is a nice guy.
On the whole it was a really nice vacation and we would gladly return to this flat again.
What a terrific apartment in a fantastic location!! Sam is super nice and helpful. I would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat!
