The room is as described and very comfortable. I have been offered to stay in this house as an other room in an other house also owned by Mai & Tan didn't work out.
The house is located near a park in a very quiet area with good free parking in the same street. It is very clean and Mai & Tan are keeping it this way with daily visits. The house is completely used for lodging, like a B&B. The other guests were friendly. You have everything what you need besides the room (fully equipped kitchen, hot powerful shower, laundry, fast internet).
When I was staying there in January, the weather was relatively cold for Vancouver standards and it was also a bit cold in the room. The owners increased the heating on my request and it was comfortable in the room, while the living room and especially the kitchen were still a bit cold. I can see that increasing the heat further wouldn't be feasible as the rooms would get too hot then.
I can definitely recommend staying there.
My boyfriend and I rented one of Mai's rooms for a week and really enjoyed it. The house is nice and big, clean, modern and cosy with all the appliances you need - kitchen, laundry etc. it was also a nice distance away from downtown Vancouver. Far away to escape the hustle bustle of the busy streets but only 10 minutes on the sky train as well. There is also everything you need just a few blocks up the road so going into downtown doesn't have to be a daily mission. The host Mai and her husband were also really nice and accommodating and helped us whenever they could. Our room was equipped with a mini bar fridge, TV, closest and comfy bed which we were given a key for so we could lock it up whenever we left the house. Overall we loved our stay and we would definitely stay there again!
We had a great experience. Thanks to Mai for welcoming us into her house and also to let us extend our stay for an extra night.
This is not a Bed and Breakfast......only a bed, however there is a kitchen for the use of the guests, and some of the more long-term guests made a habit of preparing their meals there. The house is very clean and tidy and the notices that one encounters make it clear that any tendency on the part of a guest to behave slovenly, lose keys etc, will be dealt with via fines and penalties. The owners do not live on the property; they visit about once a day just to keep an eye on things.
I have stayed at many bed and breakfast's across Canada and in the U.S. This was more along the lines of a youth hostel -- useful for young people who are travelling -- very economical, but not for somebody my age and disposition.
Convenient location if you enjoy the vietnamese cuisine. Close to public transport. The place it self is very nice.
