A pre-welcome to NYC from Greenpoint –one of the safest, quietest, quaintest, prettiest and most convenient neighborhoods the city has to offer. Five blocks away you have the East River Ferry, which for four dollars will shuttle you directly to Midtown (as well as Williamsburg, Dumbo and Governor’s Island). Three blocks away there’s the G train (three stops to 53rd and Lexington, one stop to Williamsburg –Brooklyn’s cultural/fashionable hub; by foot, a fifteen minute walk away). Greenpoint is also NYC’s film and TV locus. There’s always a movie or series being shot (the Boardwalk Empire set is just six blocks up at the end of Manhattan Avenue).
Your potential room is clean, quiet, private and sunny. It’s furnished with a freestanding clothes rack and closet, clean sheets and towels, a firm high-quality queen-sized bed. Your window looks out onto the back courtyard. The nights are extremely quiet. Our apartment is Box as opposed to Railroad, which means each room is well-delineated/not connected in tandem. We’ve also just recently remodeled the entire place: new paint jobs, furniture, floors, stove, etc. The spacious commons is equipped with an excellent sound system and TV/DVD player. The kitchen is spotless and equipped with all cooking essentials. Bathroom, spotless. We have WiFi.
The living room is provided for our guests to hang out or eat in. Preferably no eating in the bedrooms. You can also leave extra luggage in the living room.
We (Maria and myself, Joe) are married. We are quiet and courteous and NYC-busy so not often at home. We are looking for quiet, clean and respectful guests. We’re always excited to meet new people and would be glad to point you in the right direction as far as restaurants, venues, clubs, neighborhoods, etc. goes. If our place sounds/looks right to you, let us know!
DURING SELECT TIMES OUR MASTER BEDROOM/ENTIRE APT WILL BE FOR RENT. SEE OUR OTHER LISTING: 'Greenpoint Big Sunny Room'.

2. No party's. Good vibes.

We had a great experience, although we didn't get a chance to meet Joe. Maria was super welcoming and friendly. From being super accommodating with check out times, to lending us an umbrella without us asking, to recommending a great brunch place- we had a great time.
Maria & Joe were great hosts and we really enjoyed our stay there. The room is quiet, the apartment very clean. The next subway station isn't far away and nearby are many restaurants, supermarkets, etc. Would definitely stay there again. Thank you guys :)
We really enjoyed our stay with Maria and Joe. The place is in great location, Safe and quiet neighborhood, close to public transport and many restaurants. Maria and Joe are very friendly and welcomed us to their clean and cute apartment, made us feel at home directly, and assisted with anything we needed. Thank you guys!
Hi Maria and Joe, it was really nice staying with you. Unfortunately we were only able to met joe, he Was very friendly and helpfull. The room Was clean and we had clean towels and everything. It Was quiet in the room and we had really nice days in New York. Thank you again for everything.
We did not feel super comfortable at Joe and Maria's apartment. Out of the three nights we slept in the appartment, two had been without heating and without hot water due to the collapse of the general heating system. It wasn't a resposability of Joe and he felt really sorry for us. Joe has always been very nice and he lent us his own blanket when we asked for an extra one. Nevertheless, he didn't stop smoking in the kitchen determining a unnecessary cooling of the whole appartment due to the fact that he had to open the windows while the heating wasn't running to let the smoke get off.
The apt is located nearby a subway which is convenient. Greenpoint is not so special but it is easy to move to other areas. The apt is very basic, the room is really small (they rent the smallest room you see in the apartment profile), and the bathroom is a shared bathroom. The apartment, expecially the bathroom wasn't very clean.
There is no really relaxing space in the apartment. We decided to come in late in the evenings and stayed out all day for sight seeing. The price was ok although we expected a reduction due to high discomfort provoked by the broken heating.
We did not meet Maria but Joe was friendly enough to wait for our check in at 11:30pm. For the rest we saw him just a few times, which sometimes was a little akward. The apt is located nearby a subway which is very convenient. Greenpoint is not so special but it is easy to get to other districts. The apt itself is very basic, sometimes smokey in the kitchen, room is very small (but warm!) and the apt has no real relaxing space. We did not feel super comfortabele, so we just came in late and left early for sight seeing, considering the (low) price and the fact we wanted to explore NY as much as possible that was fine! At their request we checked out before 10am. Expected to see Joe then or a note, but that was not the case. So hereby thanks, good luck with your careers and bye bye!
Joe was very accommodating. Our flight was extremely delayed and we didn't arrive until after midnight but it was not a problem. The apartment was very clean and the room was indeed very cozy as described. And although it was freezing outside it was always warm in the apartment. We really loved Greenpoint and had no problem getting other places. Thank you!

We are a married couple. Of our many passions top on the list are travel, literature, film and language. Maria speaks five languages and has lived all over the world. I (Joe) am a student and an author. One of our favorite things about NYC (besides our wonderful neighborhood) is its cultural diversity. We are highly respectful, clean, quiet and busy people who love to meet, chat with and learn from others. It's our goal to make your stay in NYC as pleasant as possible.
