Patty's oceanfront condo was perfect for our family of 4. We loved sleeping with the sound of the waves outside our bedroom window, and having morning coffee overlooking the beautiful sea. The location was perfect for all of our island excursions and exploration, and is just a few minutes from the grocery store and great Japanese and Thai restaurants. There were beach toys for the kids, games, water shoes and snorkeling equipment to boot! There is no air conditioning, but with fans and ocean breezes it was comfortable. I would recommend this condo, and would stay here again if we return to the Big Island. Mahalo Patty!
We had an unbelievable time! The condo is immaculate, the views are incredible and the location was perfect as home base for our day trips all over the island. Patty was a great host, easy with whom to get in touch and highly responsive to any questions. We highly recommend!
Truly an ocean view condo! Great location with view on the water, beach and snorkeling close by. Home is on a complex with pool and tennis facilities and shops close by. We recommend a stay to explore the Big Island.
Patty was so kind and accommodating to us both before our trip--when we were in the planning stages and had to adjust our reservation to fit our flights--and during our stay at her comfortable condo when a fan broke and she had a handyman fix it that very day. The condo is just as lovely and the views as beautiful as they appear on Airbnb. We usually stay in hotels in Hawaii but this time chose a condo as we were traveling with our young grandsons who are very picky eaters. Staying in the condo allowed us to provide the little guys with everything they like to eat. There was nothing we lacked for in the kitchen.
We ate every meal outside on the lanai with the gorgeous view of the Pacific. Many evenings we used the outdoor grill right across the parking lot from the condo. We enjoyed the pool and tennis courts. A neighbor asked one of my grandsons to play tennis, and when he said he didn’t have equipment, the boy said, “Look in the condo,” and sure enough we found tennis rackets and balls.
There is no air conditioning in the condo, and I found the heat and humidity very uncomfortable during the day. At night the fans did a good job, and we all slept comfortably. As others have noted, we loved sleeping to the sound of the crashing waves. But once awake, I was dripping in sweat. I couldn’t even put on my sunscreen inside but had to wait until I got into the air-conditioned car to apply it.
The location of the condo very close to Kahalu'u snorkeling beach is ideal. The water is warm and shallow, perfect for young children and people of all ages. The water is so clear that we got fine colorful pictures of the underwater life including turtles. The beach has showers and restrooms and a food truck. We went to this beach just about every day. It is walking distance from the condo, but because of the heat, we drove.
Beautiful ocean front property in Kona. Close to all on that side of the island. Went to sleep each night to the sound of the waves breaking on the lava outside our window!
We had a pleasant stay at the Absolute Oceanfront Property despite a few small hitches. (Mystery wasps; an out-of-order ceiling fan; windows taped shut, etc., -- all of which were addressed promptly and graciously by our host, even on the weekend.) Patty's responsiveness gave us a great sense of security. The apartment itself was very nice, beautiful kitchen and bathrooms, the views from the back porch, kitchen, master bath/bedroom were stunning and the property felt secure and very well taken care of. One thing we very much wished for was at least one air-conditioned room where we could find a respite from the heat. The air flow in the apartment wasn't great, and during our stay Kona was hot, so the apartment was uncomfortably warm in the evenings and overnight. Thankfully we spent nearly all our waking hours at the beaches, though, so it was less of a problem than it otherwise might have been. Overall, we enjoyed it, and given Patty's responsiveness we're sure other families will enjoy it as well.
Absolute-ly Beautiful - sunsets every evening! The condo was every bit as advertised. Thank you Patty for providing our family a "base-camp" for exploring the island. After a day of touring, hiking, or snorkeling, we could come back to a full kitchen to prepare dinner which we would eat on the lanai watching the sunset, listening to the waves crash. Morning walks to the tide pools in the adjacent bay revealed new sea-life discoveries each day including sea turtles among the rocks.
Our host was prompt in responding any questions we had. In fact, our welcome package included Patty's great advice on local attractions and places to eat and shop. A mini tour guide specific to this part of Kona. The property is walking distance from a shopping center with a supermarket and pharmacy.
I would highly recommend this calm property to families of 4 who will find amenities and comforts for all ages.
