There were some good and bad sides of our stay in La Nave. Vernazza is really great small city and the location of the house is perfect – very near the train station and just a few minutes from the harbor. It has a nice terrace to enjoy a meal (just watch up the stairs which should be rather described as a narrow ladder) and the living room is really nice with the blue colors and small balcony. Communication was good prior to arrival and Natalia met us at the station so we didn’t have to look for it, which was very nice. We were afraid that no air-conditioning may be a problem but the house was quite cool. Also, lack of Wi-Fi is not such a big issue since there is a nice cafe nearby, where you can enjoy coffee and Internet.
Unfortunately, there were also bad sides to our stay. The house badly needs thorough cleaning and maintenance. It was simply dirty – we made some pictures of shelves literally covered with dust which I intend to send to Natalia. Moreover, the house has a strong damp musty smell, especially downstairs – my niece managed to sleep there but I would consider it inhabitable. One can feel this smell also upstairs, especially in the smaller bedroom which does not have walls and is separated from the stairs only by a curtain. Due to this unpleasant smell, I ended up sleeping on a sofa in the living room (which was definitely too short for an adult, so I didn’t get much sleep….).
Generally, the house is suitable for two couples and maybe a child, but not 6 adult people, especially of considerable height. Of course, people have different standards but only one bedroom has a normal size double bed, the other one (behind the curtain) has a fold-out, then there is a small bed downstairs and a short sofa that does not fold out. Plus there are only 3 tea cups, 4 mismatched glasses, no wine glasses, no kettle etc. We were 5 and stayed for 3 nights only so we managed, but all these things made our stay less comfortable than expected.
During our stay, there was also a problem with water in the upstairs shower which kept changing temperature – from freezing cold to extremely hot, so taking a shower was a bit of a hazard. Maybe it was something temporary but since Natalia went on vacation the next day after our arrival and the person to whom she gave us a number did not respond, we couldn’t do much about it.
To conclude, I can recommend his house only to people who love old and cramped houses and don’t mind the musty smell, or those who don’t expect much but want to be right in the center of Cinque Terre and pay less. Myself, I don’t plan on coming back to this particular house, even though I enjoyed evenings on the terrace.
Quaint little home, great location 2min to railway station but surprisingly you don't really hear the trains.Natalia was a great host after a little confusion at train station (no fault of Natalia's) we finally connected & she helped us to our accomodation. If you can't manage stairs I wouldn't suggest you stay here the roof top terrace is a steep climb but worth it to enjoy the cool of the evenings & there is a small staircase to climb to get to the bedrooms & living area. It was very hot while we were there so a fan or two to help sleep at night would have been good. Comfortable beds and generally everything you could need.
Nagyon kedves volt Natalia , az apartman különlegesen berendezett, kényelmes, hangulatos. A tetőterasz csodálatos. Vernazza hangulatos, nagyon jól éreztük magunkat. A második hálószoba ágya kanapéágy, és kicsit kényelmetlenebb mint a hálószoba ágya, ami nagyon kényelmes.
My family and I loved staying at Natalia and Peter's. Both Natalia and Peter were waiting for us when we arrived. They were very helpful acquainting us with the house and the area of Vernazza. The location was perfect. At first I was worried about not having a sea view but that actually ended up being a blessing. The location was quiet (as far as tourist traffic) and the house has a great rooftop terrace. It keeps you away from the hoards of tourists that come streaming off the train below. Don't worry about a sea view here. Trade that for calm space. The weather was very hot so it was a little uncomfortable with no A/C but I think it's fairly common there in the homes of Vernazza. The "Pirate cafe" run by Massimo and Luca is right there too, and I loved their food, coffe, and free WiFi. I would highly recommend Natalia's and Peter's place for anyone. My family and I loved it.
La Nave was lovely. Natalia and Pietro met us at the train station and showed us the home. They were very helpful. The house fit our family of 5 perfectly. Great location because it is not on the Main Street. Next to the river which was lovely to listen to in the morning and evenings. Would definitely stay here again and will recommend to friends
We just loved our stay at La Nave. From the moment we were warmly met by Natalia and Peter at the railway station, we felt welcome and part of the community. The home is ideally located up a gentle incline from the railway and main shopping area. It is quiet and feels quite secluded despite it still being in the middle of things. We loved the rooftop terrace and spent each night up there enjoying the views of the surrounding hills and the sounds of the running stream next to the house. The apartment is well serviced with everything you could need and has lots of character. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. Peter suggested we check out the Pirate Bar (up the hill about 50m from the house) for coffee and pastries - this was a well worth the visit. If you are staying around Le Cinque Terre, Vernazza is the ideal town and La Nave is the ideal apartment. Thank you Natalia and Peter!!
We had a wonderful stay at Natalia's place. The house is a 45 second walk from the train and there are no stairs to climb to reach the house itself (hiking up stairs is very common in Vernazza) - very convenient! Natalia and her husband, Peter, met us at the train station and made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable when we arrived, and Natalia was a responsive and helpful communicator prior to our arrival. The house itself is very quiet, comfortable, and spacious and the rooftop terrace was an amazing, tranquil place to have a glass of wine under the stars. I would definitely recommend Natalia's place, and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again upon a returning trip to Cinque Terre.
