Charming apartment overlooking a garden in the hip Jourdain quarter of Paris, and just 100 meters from the gate of Paris' largest public park...a 5 minute metro ride to Republique and 5 more minutes to Chatelet... this flat is a perfect base for those who want to explore Paris and still have lazy breakfasts and walks in the park!
THE FLAT : The flat dates from the early 19th century - it is actually one of the oldest buildings in the area- and it has old parquet floors and moulding everywhere... but we've redone lots of it in the last 6 months so the bathroom and kitchen are all totally new! It's on the first floor over a tiny street leading up from the Parc des Buttes Chaumont (see below).
It has 49 sq meters/527 sq ft. of space, with 2 bedrooms plus a common room, full kitchen, full bathroom (with a big shower!) and separate toilet.
The flat overlooks the cute and quiet Rue des Annelets on one side, and a private garden on the other. You have access to the garden during your stay with us... the garden is bathed in sunlight in the morning and is perfect for a slow breakfast before heading out on the town!
THE NEIGHBORHOOD : The best things nearby -
(1) the Jourdain quarter which is quite bohemian and very French (i.e. not swamped with tourists, mostly local people). There are lots of small shops, bars and restaurants nearby, and even an organic wine bar just opposite if you're feeling lazy.
(2) Parc des Buttes Chaumont is the largest park inside of Paris, and it is quite stunning - the north gate is a 2 minute walk from our door, and on a sunny picnic on the grass is perfect in the summer!
(3) Belleville (5 minute walk) and Republique (15 minute walk) are both great places for restaurants and nightlife. The Bellevilloise (look it up on (website hidden) !) is a personal favorite and you can walk there in less than 15 minutes.
TRANSPORT : The flat has (I think...) one of the best locations in Paris. We are a quick 5 minute walk from the Jourdain metro (line 11), which gets you direct to Republique in 5 minutes and to the Notre Dame Cathedral/Chatelet in 12 minutes.
In case you don't know Paris very well, Chatelet is the heart of the old city - from there it's a short hop to St Michel, the Louvre museum, the Seine River etc. Republique is the one of the main spots for pubs and bars.
FROM THE AIRPORT/GARE DU NORD : We are just above the bus 48 stop which goes direct to Gare du Nord (for those coming on the Eurostar or via Charles de Gaulle airport, you'll arrive at Gare du Nord). The bus takes about 15 minutes, and it's just about impossible to get lost.
I booked Richard and Lea's flat for my family (6 people) for a week's stay in Paris. They were looking for good value and conveniently located accommodation in the Jourdain neighbourhood as they were in town for a family wedding. The flat is comfortable, welcoming and well-located very near the Buttes Chaumont park and good metro links. Richard was very prompt in communicating with us and available to answer any questions, even during the time my family were staying there. It's worth noting that the flat has separate toilet and bathroom facilities which is really handy with a bigger group. Richard and Lea are a very friendly and welcoming couple, and happy to give information and tips about where to eat in the local area. Happily recommend!
We stayed with our 2 kids in Richards and Lea's apartment for 12 days. Richard and Lea were great hosts, very helpful and nice. The neighborhood is full of life and the park close to the apartment is especially nice. We would not hesitate to rent this apartment again if we're staying in Paris.
Despite being an old apartment, Richard and Lea's apartment had all required amenities to make our stay comfortable. In addition Richard was very kind to help with any information required and very clear communication. I would definitely recommend their apartment.
Great location in real Parisian cosmopolitan area next to amazing park, with great playground for kids, and interesting history. Quick and easy into central Paris and other areas, and apartment good facilities with modern kitchen and bathroom. Room for family of five and hosts friendly and helpful, giving good directions so very easy to get to apartment from airport. Free wifi a bonus.
Richard's flat was great for our large group (two families with kids ranging in age from 1-7). He was very accommodating, we LOVED the location (close to grocery stores, bakeries, wine, chocolate, a GREAT park, awesome market on Sunday). We had everything we needed for a great stay - the flat had a fun Parisian feel to it in a great neighborhood an easy walk from multiple metro stops. Highly recommended!
Richard was really cooperative host. He gave us exact information to reach his apartment and he picked us from the metro station. He answered in any question we had. His apartment was well located in quiet neighbour five minutes away from the metro station, supermarket and boulangeries and there is taxi station next to the apartment (for those that leaves early) .Bathroom, shower and kitchen were renovated ( the apartment was very warm).
Richard was quick to respond to any query we had, we had a great stay! Until next year...
We came to Paris to show our children the sights and found Richard's apartment to be perfect for our family (2 adults & 3 teenagers).
We walked from Gare du Nord to Rue des Annelets in 30mins.
Richard met us at the flat and was very welcoming and explained everything we needed to know about the flat and the area.
The apartment is perfectly positioned between two Metro stations for easy access to the main tourist sites and is next door to the beautiful Buttes Chaumont park.
Good bakers and supermarkets nearby yet still perfectly quiet at night.
Richard is a great host! He printed us a map of the area with metro stops and restaurants nearby. His apartment is very close to 2 metro stops and next to a beautiful park. Perfect for 4 people with a nice kitchen for cooking. Would definitely stay again!
A lovely young style flat in a nice parisian quarter. Good access to metro. As usual in Paris - parking is difficult. Our advice: Parking Robert Debré (~ 15 min walk). We (family with 3 children) enjoyed the stay very much. Very good communication with Richard and his wife. Clear recommendation !
