The Space

In a converted ex-spa/storefront you get a place to crash out for the night in your pick of either a single bed, futon or a couch/futon in the ** co-ed shared living room** in the front. Included of course is the shared (website hidden) can also be booked for small events, art galleries.

Quaint neighborhood right outside of busy downtown with all the entertainment you need within walking distance. Directly down the street from Navy Pier on Grand Ave. Blocks from Harpo studios, Bottom Lounge music venue and United Center. Free wifi, and a rare find in Chicago - free street parking!(when available, which is usually often.)

More about the space and the area:
A converted storefront, Blush Lounge is located in the west loop area, in one of the most entertaining neighborhoods in Chicago, close to all the sights, where there is always something to do.

Within walking distance of Grandbar which is a great lounge, Output, Beauty Bar, Mahoneys Irish Pub, Clutch, Twisted Spoke and Union Park which is host to many different music festivals and events including Pitchfork and North Coast. Near us are some of the best shows at one of the best venues in the city, the Bottom Lounge. Transit, the 2 floor night club is a couple blocks away and also The Mid, Red Kiva, Crocodile, Funky Buddha, Debonair, EvilOlive, Market are all about a 5 minute cab ride away; as well as the United Center which is just down the street. Centrally located between Little Italy, Ukrainian Village, Greek Town Wicker Park, and 5 minutes to the Loop. Less than a 10 minute cab to the Hancock center and the Willis(Sears) Tower and Mag-mile.

The pubs around here are known for their great food specials but for more family oriented environments there is the Breakfast Club is located directly behind us. They are said to have chicago's #1 rated french toast. There is Coalfire, Chicago's best thin crust pizza. Oggi's trattoria, Kai Sushi, Bella Notte and Burger Baron are all next door. If you must, they just opened a new Mcdonalds down the street. We also have D'amatos Bakery, the best bread baked fresh daily for a great sandwich along with other Italian pastries. If you plan to stay in for the night we have a great wine store across the street with select liquor and beer. There is also Green Grocer across the street for all your grocery needs.
For the coffee lovers: Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and a local shop called Sip are all within a block or two.

The Grand bus stop is directly in front of our place as well as cabs, Close to the expressway, 2 blue line subway stops, making it easy to get from/to the airport, EL lines, and other public transportation connections. Metra Station a half mile up the road, for north and south bound suburban trains so you can easily explore this amazing city.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Overall, had a great experience here. Tracy was very available and had clearly taken pains to make us welcome. She provided free bottled water, extra soap/shampoo, towels/pillows, etc. Very comfortable!

  • This was my first experience traveling this way, so I was skeptical. Tracy made me feel very comfortable. Her space was clean and comfortable. It is close to many restaurants and things to do. It's also close to public transportation and is very quick cab rides from different sites. The only negative thing was not knowing that other guests would be entering and exiting our room to get outside. That may be my ignorance and not completely understanding the concept (email hidden). It's just a little unnerving waking up at 230AM to someone coming in from outside. I was more comfortable with that the second night, but I do wish she would provide a locker or something to put our stuff in when we're not there. It's not that I don't trust her or her other guests, but I don't know anyone. Nothing happened, but it would have made me more easy. Thanks, Tracy, for making my first Airbnb a good learning experience.

  • Tracy (email hidden), Greeting me at the door and giving me the tour of the space. It is as she puts it a converted shop/store front space that sets right on a main road. A nice short walk to some local bars and restaurants. Its a bit more of a walk I'd say about 10-15 mins to the Blue line which will take you right downtown to the loop for only $1.75. The space is set up like a hostel with two nice shared bathrooms and a common area. The people staying with her for extended periods were in rooms, I crashed on a bed with a make shift curtain closings out in the front room. I'd say if you get a room its a great deal, if you're out in the common space, not much more than a place to crash for the night. Again Tracy (email hidden) and it was a pleasure meeting her. The FREE parking is what sold me because I had a rental car. Its street parking, and there are a lot of tow zones so you'll have to be careful, but it is possible.
    Thanks again!

  • We have a great time staying at Tracy's in Chicago. Tracy is pretty sweet. She checked on us to make sure we're okay. The place is good, right next to a bus station. Besides, Josue makes good drinks.:) Thank you guys for hosting.

  • We've been at Tracy's place for the Pitchfork Festival. Tracy is very kind and helpful. Her appartement was very well located for the festival, and with many buses to go downtown. The place is really clean. Despite the room in the entrance, we enjoyed it a lot!
