LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!!

LIVE LIKE A NEW YORKER!

NOTE: More than 4 people will be rather tight. it will involve squeezing in air beds!

This is a PRIVATE studio apartment on 2nd Ave and 76th St. This location I top notch! It's right in the heart of Manhattans Upper East Side. The apartment itself is clean and basic. It has a double bed and a double sofa bed, air conditioned, linens, dishes, pots, pans, refrigerator, microwave, oven/cooking stove, wifi, NO TV though.

It's close to the museums, Central Park, famous shops, and metro/subway which are all within 5-10 minute walks. Tons of reasonably priced bars and restaurants around with lots of diverse choice.

I should add that the apartment is 3 levels up and there is no elevator. The apartment is probably most well suited for up to 4 people, either a family or 2 couples who really just want a simple, clean, affordable place in an AWESOME location. I have always been a budget minded traveler and I really strive to make the place affordable so budget minded travelers can see this great city and get to stay in a really TOP LOCATION for a reasonable price. I can also provide you with an extra air mattress if needed.

And whether you stay in the apartment or not...enjoy the energy that is NYC!

UPDATE: I really appreciate the positive feedback. Reading most of my reviews one will notice some common themes, namely:

Good Price
Clean
Basic
No TV

That pretty much describes the place. It's no frills! My goal is to provide a clean apartment in a TOP location. For a group of 4-6 people, that means you get your own apartment in one of the best NYC neighborhoods for the price of a hostel in Brooklyn. Its for this reason I try to keep the costs down so I can keep the cost low for the guests.

My MAIN priority is really cleanliness, and my cleaning lady does a VERY thorough job.
All kinds of goods and services are very expensive in NYC. Its for this reason I ask that people not use the extra linens as this messes up my cleaning lady's karma and adds to the expense.

  • We stayed 6 girls in the apartment for 5 days, and it was great! It was a great size and clean. The location is also very good, there are many cosy and good restaurants nearby, 2 froyo places, dunkin doughnuts and Pick-a-bagel(so good) which we loved. We can also recommend you to go to IGGY's sportsbar which is in the same building just in the lowest level, we went there and had so much fun! :)

  • Hello !

    We've been in NYC at the very beginning of our trip in the USA. We're three people coming from Sussex, UK and from Normandy, Europe.
    The flat in which we stayed was overall good. There was all what you need for a short stay (we were in NYC just for three nights, two of which were spent in that flat), which include :
    - a kitchen/dining room with gas hobs (frying pan, saucepan and gas kettle as well as plates and cutlery) microwave, combo fridge/freezer, one table and four or even five chairs, if my memory serves me right ;
    - a bedroom with two medium size double beds (foam mattresses) and one bedside table between them ;
    - a bathroom with a shower/bath and a sink (the hot water is flowing quite quickly) and a toilet. Mind that the toilet is in the same room, so, if you wish to take a shower or worse a bath which takes a bit more time :-), ask the people who accompany you whether they want to go to the toilet first !
    The surroundings around the place was really nice especially if you like architecture, the neighborhood being made up of quite old buildings, or if you like parks since Central Park is less than half a mile away. The place was also unbelievably calm (remember you're in NYC, busy city 24/7) ! Greatly recommended !
    NB : first of all you should be aware that the kitchen/dining room and the bedroom are not separated. It looks like the two rooms were separated before, but that the wall separating them has been torn down to let the light coming in the kitchen/dining room since there is only one big window in the bedroom. Secondly, and I found it funny, the floor of the flat in which we stayed was sloping down to the left side in both the kitchen/dining room and the bedroom. Since it's an old building, dating back from the early 20th century I think, it's part of its loveliness ! Thirdly I almost forgot to say that we didn't stay in the flat in which we were supposed to be because we didn't remember what was the number of our flat, so we decided to enter the code that the landlord had given us in the first lock box we've seen on a door. But actually it seems that the code was the same for each lock box since the landlord told us, nicely, that we were not in the flat in which we were supposed to stay, so make sure to remember the number of your flat.

  • We were a group of four. The apartment looks old and simple but has everything we needed such as the kitchen, towels, hairdryer and so on. Its clean. The main bed is comfy however the sofa bed is a bit harsh but its no biggy. The location is good though the hall way looks a bit scary but the room itself is great for us. Noting, there is no lift so be prepared if you will be carrying huge and heavy luggages but you only drag them up - down once you arrive and leave so its ok. we find it a bit of walk to the metro station but from there its easy to get around. The room is on the 3rd floor, but we could still hear light noise from the bar downstairs if you are a sensitive sleeper, bring some earplugs but at the end of the day we were so tired from sightseeing so it wasn't the problem for us. It is also close to a super market! and a bunch of restaurants with friendly prices, ranging from western to asian cuisines. The wifi was ok. it began to run slow during the last two days of our stay. i guess the only point was that the heater was kind of making noise but besides that for us as low budget travelers, we were satisfied with this accommodation.

    Response from David:

    There is a VERY good heater in the apartment. It just needs to be turned on by the guest. Maybe he didn't notice it but ALL my apartments have strong heat in winter and air condition in summer.
