About This Listing
Greetings from Bariloche!
The owner of this cabin is one of the decorators of the legendary Hotel Llao Llao and store owner , tested in her home that creativity has no plans or strategies. Inspired by the glorious landscape of Bariloche and making use of unsuspected resources, she putted together the structure of her home from a barn and letting herself being surprised by the elements, completed the work in the decoration.
In coming to this place, part of the decision was to stay with the basics, useful, necessary and beautiful. That is why that to the simplicity of her home you can ad functionality and versatility.
The property is perfectly situated to make the most of everything Bariloche has to offer.
I speak fluid Spanish, English and Portuguese (native language). Let me know if you have any further questions before booking!! I look forward to welcoming you to Bariloche !

This cottage is like a return to my childhood home--it's only 20km from the center of Bariloche, but it feels like a world apart in the countryside, with flower gardens, fish pond, outdoor benches and lounges, chickens, a green house, and two adorable dogs who were always eager to play, but who were always gentle and quiet when we wanted to be left alone. The view of the lake from the front porch dining table and reclining chairs is amazing, as is star-gazing for those who can stay up late. The décor of the cottage is unique, but probably closest to French mountain style. Every item in this house--from the bed coverings to ceramic dishware to rustic furnishings and antique collectables has been carefully selected to create an absolutely unforgettable aesthetic experience. The location near the end of a small dirt road makes it exceptionally private and quiet. The owner is a decorator who is well-known in Bariloche for her work in decorating the famous Llao Llao hotel. She is a woman who has found a simple lifestyle, and her nearby cabin and the two cottages on her property all exude a wonderfully natural ambience.
The manager of this property--Nuno Marante--is the best possible ambassador of Patagonia. His recommendations for dining, sight-seeing, money-changing, and all things Bariloche were all excellent. He was extremely punctual in meeting us and even guided us to this cottage by driving his car ahead of ours. When it was time to check out, he came to say goodbye and invite us to return. Our contact with him before, during, and after our stay made us regard him as more than a host--he is a warm, considerate, resourceful, cheerful person, so typical of people we met in Bariloche. We will miss him and Patagonia until we return.
There are no words to describe the magic that surrounds this "One and Only Cottage." It is a healing place.
The garden is filled with wild flowers, lavander and wild berries.
There are plenty of spots to hang in the garden for reading or simply soaking up some sun.
The view of the lake and the mountains is breathtaking and the morning light is simply delightful.
Tito, Cacho and Rufina, the canine triumvirate, are an essential part of the magic of this place. They are the most loving creatures and watching them play and run around is a real treat.
There is always wood available to make fires which is quite nice on a chilly evening.
Nuno our host was amazingly kind and helpfull. He was always available for anything that we needed and greeted us with a bottle of Argentinian organic wine.
Machi the owner is a lovely lady with exquisite taste and an eye for detail.
We feel completely renovated and will definitely return soon as we already miss The Cottage and our lovely friends.
Thank you so much for everything. We loved every second of our stay.
Muchas gracias Nuno y Machi!!!!
We had the best time in Bariloche , a lot of that is because nuno's ! We stayed 4 nights at the lagoon amazing house! Everything there is great the rooms - we stayed in two of them. Nuno was amazing host welcomed us dearly with a lovely bottle of wine, when he explained us about the main attractions in the area, his recommendations were fantastic! Nuno and Mano were very helpful with every thing we needed.
It was a place to remember! Definitely the place to be when in you are in Bariloche. Although nuno's listings are all a must! We took his one and only cottage right after that! Loved Bariloche 3
Wow. An incredible place, highly recommended. We originally intended to stay for 4 nights but extended our time in Bariloche to a week as we loved the cottage so much! Machi (the owner) is a genius - not only is the cottage beautiful inside and out, but it is also extremely comfortable, cosy and well-equipped. If anything the photos don't do it justice! The garden is filled with flowers and the view from the cottage down to the lake is fabulous - breakfast on the veranda was a daily highlight! We experienced all kinds of weather during our stay (we were there in late March) and enjoyed both sunning ourselves on the lawn and firing up the woodburning stove as it tried to snow outside (!).
The location on the leafy outskirts of Bariloche was perfect for us. It was very quiet and pretty, but we were a taxi or bus ride away from some great restaurants - and walking distance from both the Cerro Campanario chairlift and an incredible vegetarian cafe (Aashi). We didn't hire a car and managed perfectly well with buses, taxis and walking, but if you wanted to move around a lot a car would definitely be advisable.
As for our hosts, Nuno was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and gave us some invaluable advice about what to see and where to eat. His English is perfect and he even picked us up from the bus station as he was in town when we arrived! Machi, who owns the cottage and lives at the other end of the garden, was similarly welcoming. We were greeted with a delicious homemade cake and a basket of freshly laid eggs from her hens, and she urged us to pick fruit, herbs and salad leaves from her garden. Paradise! Although Machi lives nearby, the cottage feels very secluded and privacy was not a problem at all.
One last thing - as other reviewers have noted, Machi has two large dogs that have the run of the garden and like to befriend her guests. We enjoyed their company, but they may be intimidating to people who don't like dogs (one is very bouncy indeed!).
All in all, a brilliant place - one of the highlights of our 2 months in Argentina and Chile. Thank you Nuno and Machi!
