About this listing
Great place. Amazing location. Up and coming culinary center of brooklyn and close to convenient trains.
The smallest bedroom of our apartment is going to be available for a few months. It is cozy with an air conditioner and perfect for a place to sleep. If you're looking for space to relax in, our living room is large and comfy. We are located in a great spot in Brooklyn. The train ride to Manhattan is about 25 minutes. We are walking distance to the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and Prospect Park. We are surrounded by bars with tasty beers and good people and there are plenty of coffee shops to choose from. The closest train station is Franklin Avenue with access to the 2,3,4, and 5, all of which can bring you to Atlantic Terminal; Brooklyn's biggest transportation hub.
I am laid-back and easy to get along with. I have been in the area for a while so I can help with directions, recommend restaurants, music, and so on in Brooklyn and I know a few spots in Manhattan. The third bedroom also has airbnb guests.
Also, if you're looking to improve your English lessons, I am a certified English as a Second Language Instructor and can give you personalized lessons for a great rate in the most convenient location you can imagine. The kitchen or living room.
Interaction with Guests
If you're up for going out for a drink I'm usually around in the neighborhood!
Blocks from amazing restaurants with international cuisine. Close to the big and beautiful prospect Park. A variety of night life and live music nearby.
Blocks from the franklin ave 2,3,4,5 trains which will get you anywhere you need to go in brooklyn. The B48 bus at my corner will get you to Williamsburg and greenpoint quickly.
Our kitchen window leads to the fire escape so whenever you leave the apartment, be sure to close and lock that window.
The location was fine, close to the subway as it is described. However there was a huge difference between the descriptions of the last guests and our experience in James' s flat. It was dirty, because there was a dog (which is not mentionned in his description). We stayed 8 nights with an other couple sharing a bathroom with dog hair (and smell) everywhere and a tub very dirty. The kitchen was also dirty, it was not comfortable at all to cook and eat there. If James cleans normally his flat, it would be okay. We loved visiting New York but we had a bad experience with our stay in his flat. It is too expensive when we really see the kind of stay we had there
James was a great host. We arrived after a long and stressful bus journey and we were immediately made to feel welcome. Towels provided, a map and tips for the surrounding area and James himself is a really nice guy and very accommodating.
The room is very basic but it's all you need if you're taking advantage of everything New York has to offer (i.e. You shouldn't be spending too much time at home!).
There are tons of cafes and restaurants situated nearby and Franklin Avenue subway is less than a five minute walk away.
For the price, James' place is a steal and it meant we had more pocket money to explore the city. If you're on a budget and want somewhere fun to stay, and in a great area, I couldn't recommend James enough.
Great location in the heart of Brooklyn. James was there when we arrived and had everything set up. Perfect spot for exploring New York, was close to transport, walking distance to spots. James had a map of some good local spots and provided good advice on places to see.
I had a great time couldn't have asked for a nicer host in James very relaxed and easy going, open to questions about the area and had also left a helpful map in the room with all local amenities (laundry, groceries, etc.) room was as described, directions from JFK were clear and the location is great, close enough to the subway (5 min walk) to get into Manhatten and back in the evening no problem.
I'd recommend to friends or anyone to stay at James's and will do myself if I'm back in NYC someday.
Great room, bigger than what the picture suggests! James was a great host, even providing us with Met tickets - and towels of course! :) his neighbourhood is great so you don't even need to leave the area to live a great New York experience!
James was an incredible host. My husband and I stayed in his apartment for two months. He made us quickly feel at home, gave us useful advices for Brooklyn (it was our first time in NYC) and we had a very good time having drinks and chattering in the kitchen!
Furthermore, James is an excellent english teacher: if you need to improve your english, ask him!
The location is very convenient, and the neighborhood safe (I could return home alone in the night without any trouble) and friendly. Franklin av. has bars, cafés, take-out restaurants, laundromats, grocery stores,... everything in 5 min walk distance. My husband worked at the NYU in Manhattan and it took 45min door-to-door to arrive there. Living in Brooklyn gave us a different point of view on NYC: the travelers tend to identify the city with Manhattan, and the risk is to miss the amazing borough of Brooklyn.
The room itself is small but had what we needed: a big bed and a closet. But if you want to spend more time in your room (why, I don't know, in an amazing city like NYC...) definitely choose the other one that James rents.
Well... James, thank you so much!
It was really nice and safe place and neighborhood as well as who stayed there. Enough room for two people. It was so clean. James was very nice for us to prepare a map for us. Thank you so much.

About the Host, James
I am a 29 year old person and have been living in Brooklyn for 6 years. I love this neighborhood and meeting fellow travelers. I'll be home to welcome all guests at any time you need. I enjoy being social and having gatherings but I can accommodate to the needs of any guest.
