About this listing
Beautiful historical home in quiet neighborhood in New London, Connecticut. Built in 1852, the house offers spacious common areas indoors and out. WIFI is available throughout the home. We're a short walking distance to downtown New London where you can hop a ferry to the North Shore of Long Island (Orient Point/Greenport with connections to Shelter Island and South Shore), and Fishers Island. Mid-way between Boston and New York, New London has Amtrak service, and Union Station is a 10 minute walk downtown. A 10 minute drive gets you to Ocean Beach Park, on the water. Mystic, its Seaport and Aquarium are a 15 minute drive across the Thames River bridge. The casinos are a short drive, too. There is plenty of off-street parking available.
There are restaurants and night spots of all shapes and sizes downtown (walkable), local bus service, and a spare bike or 2 as well.
The master suite has a queen size bed in an enormous, airy room with an equally enormous master bath. The master bath has a large, classical style, claw foot bath tub and an amazing double shower. This room can be rented by itself, or can include an adjoining room to make it a suite. The additional room comes with its own half bath and has two twin beds, making the suite option perfect for families. If you are interested in booking the additional room, or any combination of the 4 rooms we have available, please send a message for pricing details.
Ours is a big lovely old house - lots of stairs, corners to get comfortable in, views to take the breath away. Come enjoy it, and the Whaling City, as much as we do.
NOTE: We have 3 other rooms available, and can accommodate larger parties. Full (hot) breakfast served Saturday and Sunday; continental breakfast Monday-Friday
Bedrooms, downstairs rooms, dining room, grounds and pool. We provide a guest refrigerator, but not kitchen cooking privileges.
Smoking outside only, please. And since we (Grandmother, Grandfather, Mother/Daughter and Two Great and Charming Grandchildren, 6 and 8) live here, too, and have to slog off to work and school, no REALLY LOUD NOISE after 11, thanks.
We are Lourdes and Jamie Haynes from New London, CT. James is a musician who's been employed for many years as a telecom tech, and I'm an admin at Yale - but that's just work life. We are parents of two great grown daughters: Bessie lives with us, raising our grandchildren, a 8 year old guy and his 6 year old sister and does yeoman duty as the Hostess/Director of our BNB efforts.
