Interaction with Guests
We live on the space ourselves, and are always willing to help and to answer to questions when we are there!
Flamingos Inn is located on the beach, a few footsteps from the water. There are no hotels in the area, only private homes, vacational homes and a few B&Bs. The beach is quiet, you will sometimes have it all by yourself.
Moving around can sometimes be a challenge, so we recommend renting a car. About half of our guests do so, the other half is happy to find more creative ways of moving around.
We have two bicycles for our guests to use.
We can also help you ordering a taxi.
We are located two blocks from the main road, from there you can take the "colectivo", a van going in shuttle between Progreso and Chuburna, you op on and off where you like. You will sometimes have to wait for a much as half an hour, as they don't have a regular schedule.
From Merida, historical center:
Taxi: About 450 pesos/USD 25
Alternative: Bus to progreso, and the colectivo from Progreso to Chuburna. Jump off at calle 186/Flamingos Inn
From the airport:
Taxi: About 650 pesos/ USD 35
Alternative: Bus is a bit more complicated, you have to take a bus to centro, and from there another bus to Progreso, and the colectivo from there.
The colectivo or taxi (150 pesos/ USD 8)
About 15 minutes walk or a few minutes if you take the bikes.
The colectivo takes you in a couple of minutes, but you may have to wait for up to half an hour sometimes.
Other Things to Note
Chuburna puerto is a quiet and authentic fishing village. Closest restaurant is about 1,5 km from here. Some of our guests walk, some use the bikes we have for our guests and it is also possible to take the bus from the main road. But we still recommend - at least for those who plan to move around a bit - renting a car. About 50% of our guests do so, the other half find more creative ways to move around.
Smoking is allowed on the terraces, but not inside the rooms.
We do allow pets, especially if their owners are well behaved.
We have two greyhounds and a street mix, all of them very friendly. They walk around in the garden, but we will of course always keep them away from guests with allergies or other issues.
Breakfast is included, please let us know in advance if you have an kind of food restrictions, and we will do our best to make you a breakfast which will suit your wishes.
Norwegian enjoying the life here in beautiful Yucatan! I worked in a theatre for 20 years before I decided that I wanted a change in my life. The best decision I have ever made was following my dream and move down to southern Mexico. I run a bed&breakfast on the beach, which gives me the oppurtunity to get to know a lot of nice and interesting people from all over the world.
