The space
Birdsong Yurt is not your average yurt! The yurt is a 30-foot Great Lakes yurt with lots of upgrades. Every detail has been thought through to make this yurt experience as cozy and relaxing as possible. The yurt can sleep two to four people, with a king bed in the main living area and a queen size bed in the back bedroom. Each bed has comfortable fresh clean bedding. The yurt features full kitchen to include a small refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, small 20" cook stove/oven, double cast iron sink, drip coffee pot, tea kettle, microwave, toaster/air fry oven, dishware/glassware for 2-4 people, silverware and cooking utensils, dish towels, dish soap, olive oil, vinegar, cooking spices, cookie sheets, muffin and loaf pans. The bathroom has a 48" stand up shower with rain shower head and is stocked with towels, hand soap, bar soap, hair dryer, starter toilet paper and paper towels for your stay. The living space has a sofa and two chairs perfect to sit and read a book by the fire, play some games or settle down and watch a movie on the 43" smart Roku tv. The yurt is heated with a comfortbuilt pellet stove which is easy to use and can be left unattended for a day out to come back to a nice warm space. We also have a rinnai propane heater to supplement the heat on colder nights. We have a Mini split A/C unit provides air conditioning to keep you cool and comfortable in the warmer months.
Location
The yurt is located in a rural area of Maine. The location is perfect for anyone looking for outdoor adventure! We are 13 mins to Mt Abram and 27 mins to Sunday River Ski resort! 30 Mins to Grafton Notch state park which has many great hikes and several waterfall areas. There are many lakes and ponds nearby (within a 10-12 min drive) that are perfect if you are looking to go fishing, kayaking, or looking for a place to cool off in the summer. We are close to many hiking and ATV/snowmobile trails. The town of Bethel is a 18-min drive and has some great restaurants, activities as well as a small grocery store. There is a Walmart and Hannaford in Oxford about 26 mins from the yurt. See our guidebook for more places to see in the area!

Other things to note
Birdsong yurt may look like a beautiful house, but it is good to keep in mind that it is still a glorified tent. It is insulated and warm in the winter with proper heating but on really cold below zero nights it may struggle to stay above 65 degrees, but sleeping is comfortable with an extra blanket. During the day with the sun, it is easier to keep temps comfortable. In the winter a 4 wheel drive vehicle is not required but it is recommended. We also highly suggest adding the trip insurance especially in the winter as storms can affect travel and we do have a firm cancellation policy. Another thing to keep in mind is that being a "tent" you may also find small bugs or spiders in the summer months, but we will do our best to control any pest with monthly pest control. One of the best things about staying in a yurt is the closeness to nature, hearing the bird songs, listening to the wind and rain. While some will find these sounds relaxing others may find the sound of the wind unsettling. Rest assured that the yurt is modified with a full snow and wind load package and just by the shape of the yurt it is designed to handle wind very well and is solid! Please note the yurt has a drilled well and septic system and nothing other than toilet paper should be flushed down the toilet! (No Feminine products are to be flushed!). We do allow up to two dogs at the yurt with prior approval. Dogs are not to be left unattended on the property or inside the yurt for any reason and you must clean up after your dogs. Unauthorized dogs or pets will will be asked to leave. We do not allow cats or any other pets. We do not allow smoking or vaping of any kind inside the yurt we will allow smoking outside of the yurt at least 10 feet away. Yurt has a max occupancy of 4. No parties or gatherings permitted. No Fireworks allowed. We will not refund for short term third party outages that are beyond our control ( power or WiFi outage). We do have one security camera outside on the utility pole facing the driveway only. The camera is motion activated and records video and audio. The camera is not always activated. Your privacy is very important and it is there for the security of our property and the safety of our guests and not meant to be invasive in any way. Please note that in the winter months the property will be plowed and decks and walkways clear of snow for your arrival. A shovel and salt/sand is available if new snow falls during your stay. Driveway will be plowed if needed during your stay be prepared to move you vehicle for the plow to clear the driveway. Overnight storms expect plow as early as 7am.
**Please keep in mind we do not accept alternation requests within 15 days of your reservation and the cancellation policy will apply. If you need to change the number of guests after that just shoot me a message and I will make note.
