About This Listing
Design and furnished November 2011 in a building of 1886. I did it with an architect friend of mine. The Guggenheim Museum is 10 minutes walking from the apartment, on the opposite bank of the river.
You don't have to leave any deposit, or add cleaning fee. In relation with the arrival and departure time I try to be as flexible as possible, but when new guests are arriving on the same day I need time to prepare the apartment. In these cases, the check-in will be starting from 16.00 hours and check-out before noon.
Private parking is one block from the apartment in case you need it.
Most of the house is one single space, the bathroom and a separate room (for my daughter when I'm here) where there is has a trundle bed.
I love to cook so the kitchen is fully equipped. High speed Wifi. Large flat TV. The bathroom has a shower and a small bathroom, two sinks. On the balcony, in the back, there is a washing machine. The apartment is on the second floor with no elevator and is very bright.
Castaños neighborhood is very central and yet quiet. There are 2 good supermarkets within a block away, fresh fruits store, a couple of wine shops, fish shop and some nice bars to enjoy with neighbors.
In the square next to the apartment is the funicular up Hill Artxanda from where a great view of the city can be enjoyed. In Artxanda there are also sports facilities (swimming, tennis, etc.) and is also a great place to enjoy a nature walk.
If you like running / jogging the walk along the river is the most popular area in town and just two blocks away.
Just leave it as I left it for you.
There is stuff of my use in the drawers and wardrobes, please respect it and don't be too curious.
There is a wall as a blackboard in the kitchen where and there is all you need to know from wifi code to different phone numbers in case of any need.
La estancia en el apartamento ha sido muy buena . El apartamento ha sido tal y como se describía por la web y la localización del mismo es magnífica para poder conocer la ciudad a pie
Bilbao is a great city, but Asier's apartment really stole the show. It's cosy, tidy, stylish and everything we hoped it would be. Just perfect. Located very centrally in a nice neighborhood and within walking distance of the guggenheim museum as well as the old city.
Since Asier wasn't in town, we got the keys from his father Rafa, who was waiting for us upon arrival. Everything worked out smoothly.
After only 4 days the flat already felt like home. And we'll definitely come back again some day.
Asier was really nice right from the beginning. He send us lots of useful information and carefully asked how he can help us and what we need for accommodation. When we arrived, his father warmly welcomed us with a big smile and did the checkin perfectly. Thank you!
A studio within walking distance of all the highlights of Bilbao. Good place to stay during the visit of the town.
Parking could be a bit of a hassle and costly. But further no problems at all.
Asiers apartment in Bilbao is perfect place to stay. It is close to the city centre and the Guggenheim museum, just a 10 to 15 minutes walk.
He´s a absolutely nice and helpful person! His father, Rafa, welcomed us warmly even though we arrived very late. Both gave us personalized information and insider tips where to go in Bilbao, which were very useful.
We really enjoyed our visit and hope to get back some time.
About the Host, Asier
I live between Bilbao, Madrid and on the road due to my work. I'm the one with the orange T-Shirt, my father next to me in the picture, I asked him to help me to receive the guests when I'm away.
I spent about one third of my time in Bilbao, where I have a daughter in joint parenthood.
I enjoy artisan beer, good wine, I love cooking and learning new things all the time. I cannot live without travelling and meeting new exciting people.
You can either cross the river to go to the Guggenheim using Zubizuri (Calatravas bridge) or taking this one that Frank Gerhy work with when he design the museum. Its free.
If you want to try some basque nouvelle cuisine this might be a great place. Ive never tried still. Let me know if you go, maybe I try to join you.
