This home is soo interesting that CSI Miami filmed here for three days, Dexter was here for two days, and various student films have used the place for location filming. You will be using the bathroom used by famous actors :-)
Walk through the front door and turn right, you are in the avaliable bedroom. The bed is queen size and the mattress comfortable. The full bathroom ( shower, BIG ole'tub) is adjacent.
The home is one of the earlier Craftsman Style homes built in Long Beach and still has most of its original features. The kitchen is beautiful and you can use it, as long as you clean up after yourself. I've been told that this house "hugs you" when you come in.
You will awaken to the aroma of coffee, and chose to have breakfast in the dining room, or on the backdeck - or even the front porch, before heading off to your day of sightseeing. When you return you will find chilled wine and snacks, and most likely me to listen to your adventure tales.
Great restaurants and local favorites are close by. Many visitors enjoy the nearby Aquarium of the Pacific, walking along the boardwalk, walking on the beach, visiting the Japanese Gardens at CSULB, touring the Queen Mary. There are festivals and events all the time in Long Beach, I've probably volunteered for most of them.
I have two bikes that are available for guests to help you explore Long Beach and our bike trials that actually go along the beach :-) The bikes are kinda old so don't expect to enter any races with them.
You will be close to bus, train, and the LGB airport. You can walk to Downtown and the Beach. From LAX you can take a shuttle for about $30 to my home. A taxi ride from the LGB airport to my home is less than $20. You can park your car in my driveway. You can get to Hollywood, Universal Studios, downtown Los Angeles by public transport, and it is very affordable.
The room and home are spacious and welcoming. I love to spend time with guests letting them know about out great restaurants, and interesting things to see and do. I have menus from nearby restaurants, and sometimes discount tickets to local attractions.
Guests have access to the entire ground floor, including the kitchen, front parlor, dining room, library, front porch, back deck, back yard !
I interact with my guests according to their desires, if they want to be left alone, I leave them alone. If my guests want tours, local restaurant information, grocery store information, help with their accent reduction while speaking English, all that is available, even involvement in Long Beach activities.
I love that my neighborhood is fairly quiet, multi-cultural, safe to walk around or bike. My neighborhood is full of interesting architecture, it is the oldest Historic Neighborhood in the city of Long Beach.
Yes, bus is a short walk, and one may connect with train easily.
Amenities: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, I even have extra toothbrushes if you have forgotten yours. The bathtub is extra big and perfect for a bubble bath, or just use the shower for a quicker clean.
Dianne creates a warm, inviting, yet casual experience at her home. I immediately felt comfortable in her home and her positive, worry-free energy is infectious. I highly recommend staying with her, especially if you are looking for a cozy, relaxing stay in the Long Beach area! :)
Diane is a most hospitable host and took extra care to provide us with a special welcome, tasty breakfasts, snacks and even a short tour of Long Beach. We felt very happy to have been able to stay in her 1908 Historic Register home and hope to do so again. She is also a very nice person and a lot of fun. You won't go wrong staying with here but leave a little room for us to come back again.
In stayed at Diannes place for four weeks and it was a great time. Dianne made everything to feel me home and welcome. I really enjoyed to be in the backyard and enjoying the sun. It is a great place to stay.
Where do I begin? Dianne's home was my first experience with Airbnb. Just a brief overnight stay to attend a family member's funeral, Dianne's warm hospitality and generosity of spirit added just the right amount of lightheartedness to ease the loss. As soon as she learned the purpose of my visit, she went out of her way to make me feel at home. She picked me up at the airport, met me at the gate with a big hug, showed me around town, and then joined me for a delightful lunch. To top it off her place is lovely. I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Airbnb, or a better host. Thanks again luv!
Dianne is an extraordinarily gracious host with a beautiful, full-of-character home. Tom and I had a wonderful visit - we loved all the extra touches: the coffee maker in the room, the snack basket, the lovely red bowl full of luscious tangerines, the unexpected and fabulous breakfast, but Dianne herself was the real treat. Highly recommended!!
If you're into houses with character and don't like boring hotels, GO HERE. Dianne was amazingly giving and kind, even offering to pick me up from LAX (if you know LA, that is a gigantic favor).
Soft sheets, old but clean wooden floors, and funky colors/architecture abound. Probably will stay here again!
My mom and I stayed two nights at Dianne's house and felt very comfortable… the house is cozy and eclectic and Dianne is a very warm and friendly host. She really cares about her guests and it felt like we were crashing at a cousin's or aunt's place! Comfy bed, clean shower, yummy breakfasts, cozy couches and tables to read or watch T.V… a funky and affordable place to stay that's very close to downtown Long Beach, the Aquarium, and other sites.
Dianne is a very gracious and thoughtful host and her house is truly one-of-a-kind. We went away for a staycation and really enjoyed our night. Dianne leaves lots of little touches around for her guests (snacks in the bedroom! A Keurig! Cute notes!). If you're looking for someone who knows a lot about Long Beach, Dianne is your gal! She is very knowledgeable about the area and truly enjoys getting to know her guests. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Dianne is a very generous and considerate person who goes out of her way to give a hand. If you are looking for a local historic experience, a place close to downtown with numerous services, and enjoy walking, Dianne's place is perfect.
