Private room in my Columbia Heights row house. 4 blocks from the Metro Green/Yellow line which is a direct route to downtown, museums, monuments, and shopping. The house is full of vintage finds, and I live with my girlfriend and two amazing dogs.
Awesome 100 year old townhouse in the middle of Columbia Heights filled with vintage modern home furnishings. The private room has a full size bed, 32" LCD HD flat-screen tv with cable and Smart Blu-ray player with Netflix, Youtube, HBOGo, and access to my large DVD collection. There is a desk with computer, wireless internet access, Stereo with Ipod hookup, and a mini fridge with refreshments and snacks and also a mid century chair for relaxing and reading. I have two very cool dogs, Ollie is a very lazy 8 year old male Am. bulldog/ Dane mix, and Eddie a 2 year old sweet female deaf Am. Bulldog, both are very friendly and eager to make new friends. I'm located only a few blocks from multiple metro stops, and shopping and nightlife in Columbia Heights. For additional nightlife options there are tons restaurants and bar choices in nearby Adams Morgan, Mt. Pleasant, and U St. In the summer I build custom bicycles in my workshop so I have bicycles to rent if you need a way to get around. There's also a private backyard with a fire-pit and koi pond for relaxing outside.
Guests will have access to a shared bathroom, kitchen and the rest of the house. Feel free to cook a meal in my well stocked kitchen, or watch a movie or game in the living room, or just relax in your room.

I or my girlfriend will be here to check you in and show you around. Once you've checked in you're free to come and go as you please. I often cook and if you're around you'll likely be invited to join us for a meal or hang out with our friends watching a movie or hockey game. If you like more privacy you can hang out in your room where there is a desk for getting some work done, and a tv with cable, and a smart blu-ray player with lots more entertainment options.
Columbia Heights is a fantastic place to live and visit. Convenient to everything going on in DC, the Columbia Heights Metro stop is your easy link to downtown monuments and museums. You can walk to restaurants and bars just up 11th st. or enjoy the fountain and community vibe in the Columbia Heights center near the Tivoli Theater. U St. is a short walk to even more nightlife, restaurants, weekend flea markets, and even more shops. You'll really be in the middle of it all!
The metro Green/Yellow line is just a few blocks away, and is a short 5 stop trip down to the monuments and museums without having to change trains. About 30 minutes door to door. It couldn't be easier!
In addition I rent bikes on Spinlister. Just use your favorite search engine to find "profile/15341 on Spinlister"
Communication is the key, let me know what type of schedule you are going to be keeping and I'll be as accommodating as I can. I live here with my two dogs and cookie baker girlfriend. I work weekends and she works almost every day (owning your own business is so rewarding! ) but both of our schedules are very flexible. Once you're checked in you're free to come and go as you please, and use any of the common areas of the house including the kitchen and laundry. The older dog Ollie has the run of the house, but the younger one is crated when no one is home to keep him from getting into trouble. Both of the dogs are friendly and love any attention you give so dog friendly people are ideal for stays at our house. If you have any questions please ask, We love this place and think you will too...
The room is clean. We are so happy that there are several bus stations nearby so that we don't have to walk for a long time to get to other places. Joel is a really nice person! In conclusion, we had a really comfortable vacation there!
I had a great time staying with Joel. He was a relaxed and friendly host, and helped me with lots of information about the local area. The location in Columbia Heights is really convenient for the Metro and is just a short walk away from some great bars and restaurants. I loved The Coupe which Joel suggested, and Room 11 for great coffee. The house was so cool, with loads of interesting things to look at and Joel actively encourages people to hang out with him in his whole place. My room was perfect - cool art on the walls, treats in the fridge and access to Netflix! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone vistng go DC. It was a very cool experience.
This was my first experience with Airbnb and I was extremely happy with my stay. Joel is a fantastic host, he made me feel welcome and at home. This room is spacious, the bed is comfortable and the location is ideal. His dogs are well trained and lovely to have around. I highly recommend this place!
Joel was a great host and has a hip house with awesome taste. We enjoyed our stay and you can tell he has been hosting for a while. Make sure you're a fan of big dogs, as they are very eager to play. Thanks for the stay, Joel!
Cool neighborhood, great hosts, homey place! I was in DC for a business trip so i did not get to spend much time at the house or visiting with Joel, his girlfriend or the dogs. However, when I was there i felt very welcome and comfortable. Joel was super accommodating regarding my arrival and departure times and helpful with directions and tips. Great place, can only recommend it!
Joel was an incredibly communicative and welcoming host. The room was comfortable and the house was clean and attractively decorated, and in a convenient location. Joel even provided a parking pass, and was nice when we forgot to return it and had to mail it back to him. Taller folks may find the bed a little short, but we slept well and recommend this listing as a good place to spend the night.

Freelance photographer and part time bartender living in Columbia Heights with my two awesome dogs Ollie and Eddie (she's deaf). I build bikes in my spare time, and enjoy home renovations and wrenching on my motorcycle on rainy days.
