The Space

Take advantage of this quiet, bohemian opportunity in the heart of San Jose, 1 - 8 blocks from museums, groceries, bars, and more. You'll stay and relax at a Yoga Studio, in your private bedroom and 90%-private apt., even meeting locals and practicing spanish if desired.

You are definitely staying here if you want to relax and also be near all the fun stuff downtown.

You will stay in our colorful apartment that doubles as an office during class hours. You will have 1 Completely Private, Lockable Bedroom, Outside Patio and Private Outside Kitchen (fridge, stovetop, sink and foreman with basic cooking dishes) to yourself the entire stay. The bed is a queen and is really comfortable. Hot water shower, free wi-fi, come and go as you please. Towels, dryer, and washer available.

The bathroom and office space will be in use approximately 30 minutes in the morning and an hour at night. So the majority of the time the space is all yours!

You are welcome to 1 class a day during your stay. The Yoga studio is next door, a great way to relax after travel.

This is literally in the very center of San Jose, walk no more than 8 blocks to best museums, galleries, nightlife and groceries.

$12 overnight parking is available in a guarded lot, daytime street parking available.

This is a 25 - 45 minute drive to airport depending on traffic, buses also run nearby to airport and many locations in Costa Rica.

I have a tour business and can have our driver pick you up or take you to the airport for $30. This is $5 less than the regular rate.

I operate a city walking tour business so this is definitely the best place to stay to get great activity referrals. If you are interested in a city tour visit - toursanjosecostarica to see options and book in advance.

  • I had a wonderful time with Stacey at Downtown Yoga. The apartment was wonderful, with warm water, a kitchen, a comfy bed, and Wi-Fi! My first night in San Jose Stacey took me out to her friends house the first night to hang out, and showed me around the city, and showed me the best bars! The yoga class at her studio is also amazing. I had never done yoga before, and do not speak spanish, but the instructors made me feel right at home. I will definitely be returning to stay with Stacey again!

  • Stacey was a very sweet and gracious host! She went out of our way to make sure our stay was comfortable. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed staying at her apartment. It's right in the center of downtown and is only a few blocks from museums, artisan markets, bars, and plenty of restaurants. Be sure to try to Panaderia Colombiana bakery only two blocks away! It was our favorite breakfast spot. The bus terminals were a short cab ride or 15-20 minute walk away which made it easy for us to catch a bus to nearby cities. The apartment itself is small and cozy. There was no need for A/C as the windows had a cool breeze coming in all evening. It was a great place to stay and I would recommend this place to anybody!

  • Very nice place! Stacey was an awesome host and provided us with a lot of information about the city. The location is in a great spot just minutes away from the pedestrian walkway where you can find almost anything.

  • My husband and I stayed at Stacey's place for one night during the end of our trip to Costa Rica. The place was in the basement part of a building. The windows in the room were boarded so there wasn't any natural light. We understood there would be shared bathroom with the studio, but we didn't expect that we would have to hear people chatting and going to the bathroom till 10:00pm. Also there is no lock to the room that you get to stay in and people are in and out of the bathroom and the area outside the bathroom so it felt kind of weird to leave all of our stuff in the bedroom when we left to have dinner. We weren't a fan of the place although the people are really nice.

    Response from Stacey:

Thanks for the review. We have a bolt lock on the outside of the door and staff is on site when students are present so there are no security issues (if more was necessary reviews would reflect it and I would change it), The bedroom does not receive natural light but there is an unboarded window to open and a spacious patio to enjoy weather permitting. The space should be clear of students by 9 p.m. on any night - Fri. was a special occasion as we had a training event. Bathrooms are cleaned daily but if you arrive later in the day with only a few hours notice of arrival time there may be students using it prior without time to reclean.

  • The room was located in a very secure complex right near some great bars and places to eat. Stacey was not available but her friend Diego was really wonderful and took his time to show us around. A nice inexpensive place to stay in San Jose for sure.

  • The place was perfectly what I needed to get my feet on the ground when arriving in Costa Rica. Basic, very central but quiet, main places and shopping facilities just around the corner, easy access to the bus terminals. Very good yoga class is included, so you can get your joints reset after a long flight :)
Special Thanks y un millón de gracias to Diego!!!! Very nice guy to hang out with and get some good advice!!!
    Highly recommended!

Downtown Yoga Costa Rica
Expat yoguini living in Costa Rica. - I am a San Jose fanatic. It's a great small-town kind of city with museums, parks, restaurants and friends waiting at the doorstep. I love to eat, practice yoga, go to local concerts, garden, hike and explore! After being here for 4 years I could never live without Salsa Lizano, Gallo Pinto, walkable streets, my street pets or all of my fabulous Costa Rican friends!
