HEART OF SAN JOSE CITY - BUT QUIET
This is literally in the very center of San Jose, walk no more than 8 blocks to best museums, galleries, nightlife and groceries.
$12 overnight parking is available in a guarded lot, daytime street parking available.
This is a 25 - 45 minute drive to airport depending on traffic, buses also run nearby to airport and many locations in Costa Rica.
I have a tour business and can have our driver pick you up or take you to the airport for $30. This is $5 less than the regular rate.
I operate a city walking tour business so this is definitely the best place to stay to get great activity referrals. If you are interested in a city tour visit - toursanjosecostarica to see options and book in advance.

We loved our stay at Stacey's downtown yoga studio: from what we saw of San Jose, Stacey's neighbourhood is by far of the most quaint, cultural and idyllic parts of the city with a great local/indie bar, coffeshop " and gift shop steps away. We loved the outdoor terraces, the many plants, and the very spacious room (#1). This is not a complaint, but we would just suggest to others to remember that as its a yoga studio, classes and lingering students may continue until 8/9 or so at night. So bring earplugs in case you want to get an early sleep!
The place was really cool and Stacey was very kind and welcoming. Would love to stay there again. :)
We had a really nice time at Stacey's yoga studio. The building is unique and architecturally gorgeous, plus staying in downtown San Jose definitely gave us a good opportunity to easily locate our bus to take the next morning. There is a lovely patio for relaxing, plus two beds in the room for us to spread out our stuff. Simple, but perfect for our needs. I would definitely recommend this place for travelers to stay at for a day or two after/before your flight. Make sure to take a yoga class. Even if you don't speak Spanish, the classes at Stacey's studio are all wonderfully relaxing after a long flight.
No problem for our taxi driver to find the house. The red paint and tattooed man helped. Great location. Stacey provided great information of area. With this stay, I learned that sound really carries in some of the older buildings, and that I did not like having to whisper to my husband for fear of disturbing the yoga classes.
We never met our host though we exchanged a few text messages, the listing was as described , and in general we were satisfied with the accommodation.
We had a lovely stay at Stacey's yoga studio, and though we did not meet her, she was easily reached through email. The room was breezy and comfortable, and we felt safe there for our first night passing through San Jose. It was in a walkable neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and green space, and a short walk from a busy shopping area. It is around the corner from "Hotel Rincon de San Jose" if you need a landmark when booking a shuttle, or telling the taxi driver where to drop you off. To locate the studio entrance, look for a large mural of a guy with a red background.
Stacy gave us very detailed instructions for the house, the neighborhood! Very helpful! The location is great, walking distance to cafe, supermarket and museum. I also had lovely chat with the girls in Yoga class. They also gave me suggestion on where to go, what to eat, how much I shall expect for taxi etc. It was a very fun and unique experience.

Expat yoguini living in Costa Rica. - I am a San Jose fanatic. It's a great small-town kind of city with museums, parks, restaurants and friends waiting at the doorstep.
I love to eat, practice yoga, go to local concerts, garden, hike and explore!
After being here for 6 years I could never live without Salsa Lizano, Gallo Pinto, walkable streets, my street pets or all of my fabulous Costa Rican friends!
If this room is booked, please write me to see if second room at same space is available.
