Check In
  • Great place, good cost. The wild chickens that roam around the house (yes, wild chickens) make a lot of noise and woke me up or made it hard to work some days. Sheila was very accommodating, including getting a new wireless router to make sure the internet would work acceptably. The internet is still spotty sometimes, but with the router it's mostly good enough to work from.

  • The location was perfect for us as we were going to the Bitcoin Conference at Circuit of the Americas. The property was a little on the older side, but it was very clean and comfortable. Sheila was nice enough to stock the pantry with some breakfast foods, water and milk. We had a nice and comfortable stay. Thanks!

  • We (email hidden) for 37 nights. It is a really nice, quite and home-like place. Sheila is an outstanding host and takes care of everything.
The coolest thing about this place is that it is designed like a hotel with independent parking to key-less entry; but it has all the amenities of a home. It is a duplex-home and the room is in a separate apartment from where the host lives, which makes it really convenient and independent.
Sheila pays attention to detail and you learn to appreciate the small things that have been done right in this place. Whenever you need something you find it there.
All in all a wonderful experience and a highly recommended place.

  • Sheila was such an accommodating and wonderful host! Her place was perfect especially for an extended stay. It is conveniently located near the highways and only 3 miles to the heart of Austin! The house had many windows so there was lots of light illuminating the place in the morning; just the kind of thing that puts a smile on your face when you wake up. Would definitely stay again!

  • Sheila is a super cool hostess and her Sunlit Room in Southeast Austin is just that. Sunlit! The whole unit is sunlit and cheery. It'(email hidden) to crash for a couple nights and the location is ideal, especially if you are an F1 fan like myself. The unit is one half of a duplex on a suburban type street and I basically had the living space and kitchen to myself as her other guest (a student) was either in her room or not around. Her place is like 10 minutes from the airport. It's a few minutes to downtown. It's ideally situated between downtown and the Circuit of the Americas which is less than 9 miles away and only a 20 minutes drive even with race traffic. SoCo, Emo's, Downtown, East 6th Street are all minutes away via car and parking wasn't an issue. The bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was fine. I recommend staying here, especially seeing the prices of local lodging got completely out of hand during the F1 weekend. Sheila is very knowledgeable about the nightlife and can give great recommendations.

Airbnb host & Educator - is that spelled right?
Hi, I'm Sheila - I've been a long-time landlord (since 1998, actually) and I converted my duplex over to Airbnb in 2012. I've loved every minute of it! I have met some of the most interesting people - people just traveling through, people moving to Austin, people visiting as tourists, race fans, music fans, roller derby fans and players and wedding guests, you name it. I love providing visitors to Austin (email hidden) to stay and some insiders information about traffic, getting around the city, avoiding tourist traps, and can't-miss Austin sites, sounds and eats. I run a non-profit afterschool program for my other job. And my other other job is mom to 2 lovely children, 16 and 9 years old. Welcome to Austin!!
