About this listing
If you are looking for a comfortable and quiet apartment in the middle of a beautiful, non-touristic area in the centre, next to the Jordaan, I am happy to introduce you my apartment.
The house is a double-top floor apartment in the Westerpark area, which is 5 minutes away from the Jordaan and is a beautiful area to hang out. The house has been completely renovated with a country-styled look and personal touches and has just recently been taken care for with new beds and furniture. Additional furniture for babies and small children are available per request.
Look and feel:
The kitchen and living are in open connection with one another, making the 3rd floor a nice and open space to be in. There are windows on both sides, so there is always enough light entering the house. The kitchen has all modern equipment that you need: cooking plates, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave etc. etc.
The living room has two comfortable couches and there are family games for adults and toys for smaller children .
The top floor has just what you need: two nice bedrooms and friendly bathroom. Both bedrooms are equipped with 3 single beds (boxsprings, size 90x200). You can easily make a double bed by moving two beds together.
When you wake up early in the morning, you can take a shower while the sun shines right through the window onto you! A beautiful way to start the day!!
All required modern kitchen equipment including dish washer, electric oven, microwave and espresso maker are available. The dining room has enough space for up to 6 persons to have a great self-made dinner. There is wireless internet and off course, flat screen digital-TV with DVD.
The apartment can be rented for a longer period, in which case a cleaning service is included in the price (once per two weeks).
I can also help you with hiring bikes for the duration of your stay. They are not expensive and make your stay a lot more fun!
For any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.
I wish you a nice stay in Amsterdam, wherever you stay,
The neighborhood is best described as upcoming and hip. 5 minutes at walking distance, the Westerpark is situated. This is an urban-green area with lots of stuff to see and do. The Amsterdam Fashion Week is held there, the Affordable Art Fair, the Wintergames, all kind of hip and urban parties are held there and in the summer it is a great place to barbecue and hang out. The street where the apartment is located however, is very very quiet at night. So you are able to sleep as a rose ;-)
Next to the Westerpark area is the Jordaan area, which is famous for its biological and handycraft markets, as well as its restaurants, small shopping streets and canal-views.
Around the corner, there is a big playground for children and a nice coffee bar to have a good breakfast, lunch or just a coffee while reading your newspapers.
And for a good and scenic dinner, go to Cafe Restaurant Amsterdam, just located in the next block towards the Westerpark.
Not far from the apartment, buses and trams leave to all parts of the city. Depending on where you need to go, you can switch trams at Leidseplein or Central Station, which are both 15 minutes off.
All touristic attractions (Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House, Eye, Dam square) are all within these 15 minutes. But off course, going Dutch is the best way ;-)
Other Things to Note
The rules in Amsterdam state that it's only allowed to stay in my apartment with more than 4 persons if you are one family with two adults only. Please consult me if you have any questions about this.

Kassimou will be there to show you the apartment and hand over the keys to you.

I ask all guests for a deposit of 250 euros. I've had some issues with the neighbours about big noise troubles and I want to keep them happy. After all they live there. The deposit will be handled via Airbnb and will be returned within 48 hours after your stay.
Emergency exit is down the stairs or onto the roof. Please use the roof only in real emergencies, I don’t want you to fall of the roof.
Thank you for your stay and appreciating the need of these house guidelines.
Just enjoyed a great stay in Pieter s house. It was very clean and inviting. The beds were comfortable and made up ready for us. Kassimou was on hand to check that we had everything we needed.
Egg cups would be useful . And a map showing where the tram stops in relation to the house wouldmake things easier.
I would definite recommend this apartment
A very nice apartment, with great light, lovely furnishings, quiet surroundings and comfortable beds. Easy access by tram and bus to the museum district and central station. Thanks to Kassimou for his recommendation of 'Beans and Bagels' nearby for breakfast. Delicious!
We had a wonderful time in Amsterdam at Pieter's apartment. Everything was as expected, location was good, instructions on how to park and get to places were useful. Thank Peter for Hosting us !
Our stay at Pieters place was wonderful. All questions we had before arrival were answered very quickly and Pieter and his friend Kassi were helpful at any time. The flat is perfectly located - very close (10 min walking distance) to the Jordaan district and the city center and still calm at night. The kitchen offers everything to spend a dinner "at home" - perfect with a baby.
Thanks guys for a nice weekend in Amsterdam
Our stay at Westerpark Suite was wonderful.
The neighborhood is quiet but still in a walking distance from the city center.
The living room was big enough for all of us (8 people) and it didn't feel crowded when we had big breakfasts at the dinning table.
Pieter and Kassimou were very welcoming, always responded to our questions quickly and in a respective way and made us feel at home.
We had some problems with the wifi and both of them did everything they could to fix it as soon as possible.
We had an amazing time in Amsterdam an Pieter's apartment had a key role in that experience.
Beautiful house - wonderful host, amazing location - everything about this airbnb experience was wonderful. Only issue we had was with the Internet - it wasn't working, but we were only there for one night, but most of us managed to survive :P Beds were super comfortable, everything very clean. Very smooth check-in and check-out. Will come again!

About the Host, Pieter
Jan 23rd 2015: This morning I woke up and I felt blessed that I am able to rent out my apartment to you. Because of you (and off course Airbnb), I can support me and my family (with 2 kids) in our journey to find out how to serve ourselves and the world around us the best we can. And not only me and my family. You are also helping my friend Kassimou (who you will meet at the check in) and Hakim (who has prepared the apartment for you) to achieve whatever they wish.
I'm Pieter, I'm 39 years old and I'm an artist. It once was my hobby, but I soon found out that it is one of the few things that when I'm doing it, I completely forget everything else around me. That was the sign for me to stop doing what I did and make a change in life.
I love to change people's thoughts about things. I believe that the power of change lies within people themselves, but sometimes people just need something to trigger them. That's what I try to achieve with what I make.
We are now living in an Ecovillage in the south of Spain, learning about alternative ways of living together.
You are very welcome in my apartment. Please feel free to use it as it were your home. I truly hope that you have a nice stay in Amsterdam. A beautiful city worth visiting.
