The Space

Charming one bedroom floor-through apartment located in a two-family townhouse, on a tree-lined, landmark block in historic Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Recently voted "Best Block to live on in the Metropolitan Area" by New York Magazine. This tranquil neighborhood is filled with wonderful parks, restaurants, book shops, and all you'll need for a wonderful stay in New York. Walking distance to Williamsburg, currently one of New York's hippest neighborhoods, with its galleries, boutiques, bars, and restaurants.
There's a health food grocery store on the corner and the subway to Manhattan a block away. Manhattan's East River Ferry is just 2 blocks away. With public transportation, you are 10 minutes from Midtown.
Our one bedroom apartment has been recently renovated with many original details and is clean and comfortable.

  • The listing and host and the neighborhood definitely met our expectations!

  • The location of the apartment was in a very nice tree lined street full of character houses and importantly only 100 yards away from the subway station allowing us easy access to New York without being plonked in the middle of it. It was extremely quiet inside, secure and we had no interruptions sleeping. Alex and Karyn, whilst we did not have a lot of contact were very accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen well appointed. We didn't spend much time in the apartment aside from sleeping (you're in New York after all) but the living areas were comfortable. Very enjoyable stay.

  • This was our first time staying in an Air BnB. It was a lovely apartment, nice owners and a quiet street lined street. This was a great experience, we will stay here again when we visit Greenpoint.

  • Alex and Karyn were gracious host to my parents when I had a lot of family in for my daughter's birthday. They were very impressed with the apartment, location, and hosts. Everyone was very accommodating, and they had a wonderful stay. I will certainly reach out on their behalf next year, when they once again descend on the bday. Thank you!!

  • Karyn and Alex were fantastic hosts and their apartment absolutely beautiful - we didn't want to leave! The neighbourhood is a lovely area, full of quiet leafy streets but also only one block from the subway and 10 minutes from Manhattan on the East River Ferry. Greenpoint is a short walk from Williamsburg; an area we also really enjoyed exploring. The apartment itself was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed including towels, wifi, and plenty of space.

Thanks again Karyn and Alex - we'll be recommending your apartment to everyone we know and hope to be back again in the future!

  • We had a great time in Greenpoint. The apartment is very comfortable, everything clean and in good working order. The location is great. Close to the subway and the East River Ferry. Lots of good restaurants and shops are close by. We hope to stay there again the next time we're in town.

  • Three of us stayed here for 17 days and found the apartment overall very pleasant and comfortable to stay in. Karyn was very nice to deal with and happy to help when I asked her for some more cooking utensils. We had some issues with the fridge not keeping food cold which was a nuisance but Karyn and Alex are having the fridge serviced. So future guests shouldn't have to endure that frustration. The apartment is beautiful and very close to the subway and the ferry as well as manhattan street which is bursting with shops to shop or dine in. Peter Pan's is a great place for bagels and donuts worth the walk there. The Garden which carries everything you could need to stock your pantry is right on the corner close to the apartment, very handy. There are also cheaper places to shop if you are on a budget. We had a great stay here.

  • I stayed with my two little dogs in the apartment for nearly two months this winter.

The very large, well decorated, apartment is warm and comfortable.

Originally built as a captains house in the mid 19th century the house has been sympathetically restored. Loads of closet space, an elegant bathroom and a neat, well contained kitchen with dishwasher.

The locale is easy to negotiate.

The Greenpoint subway is one block from the house and only a few minutes from either Williamsburg or Manhattan. Don't be put off by either the G or the L trains which, contrary to local mythology, run frequently. The L runs to 14th Street in Manhattan and was very convenient. There are also very frequent buses into Williamsburg.

Greenpoint is the old Polish quarter. You are more likely to hear Polish rather than English being spoken on the street and in the shops. There are lovely bakeries, butchers and other Polish speciality shops. The Polish butcher on Manhattan Ave is superb. And, much to my delight, I could buy excellent smoked eel in my local deli.

There is a local park on the river affording excellent views of Manhattan and the East River Ferry was a great and romantic way to get to the city.

Ovenly, the bakery on Greenpoint Ave was my usual breakfast haunt and only two mins away. I often walked to 5 Leaves for lunch with friends.

I had never lived in Brooklyn before (living in Manhattan for ten years) so I was eager to find out what all the hype was about. There (email hidden)ly, youthful scene.

I fell in love with the house and the street and the area but mostly I fell for Alex and his wife who were attentive and caring hosts. If there were any problems they would fix them immediately.

Whilst I was there I was very sick with an exploded gallbladder and they kindly took me to the hospital and made sure that my dogs were cared for while I spent a week having surgery.
