I live here with my husband and our daughter. We have 4 other children who live away from home but who visit. We have a lovely, gentle dog and a cat. They mainly stay outside. My husband is the local GP in the village and I work part-time as a teacher in the local primary school.
The house is close to Dunnes supermarket, pharmacy and bookshop. There is a hotel across the road from the house which has a restaurant and also good bar food. There are chinese & indian takeaways within 50 meters. There are also two pubs in the village, one which serves good food.
This area is great for hiking and cycling and there are some beautiful places to visit not too far away one of them being Glendalough which is nestled in the Wicklow mountains. A monastic settlement, it has a beauty of its own with two lakes surrounded by forests and mountains.

We would prefer that the guests don't smoke indoors.
Annick instantly welcomed us with a warm cuppa tea and oat cakes (after a cold/rainy day). Her home is beautiful and we felt so relaxed here. Since it was the end of our trip, a quiet evening was much needed. Annick's family was also so welcoming and made our stay even more enjoyable.
Corner House in Newtown Mt Kennedy.
We enjoyed our two night stay in Annick and Craig's lovely 300 year old home in the center of a small town. It is well located to use as a base for exploring the Wicklow area. The hosts are lovely and hospitable. They were able to locate for us is a nearby vegetarian restaurant with "happy heart " options tailored to the strict low fat diet we follow. The huge old fashioned kitchen was a delight to use and eat in.
The spacious double bedroom was just steps away from the tiny modern bathroom. There was plenty of closet space for our things. The bed was spartan and only one side had a bedside table and lamp.
We arrived very late at our hosts because our plane was delayed but Annick and Craig greeted us warmly and cared very Much about our comfort. Breakfast was healthy and béautiful. Everything was perfect!
We had a great time at the charming and beautiful Corner House! We were in contact with Annick before we arrived. She changed her schedule around so she could be there for us to drop off our bags and check in, which was so welcome as we had been traveling since early in the morning. She greeted us warmly with a tour of the home and garden, recommendations of places to see and a feeling of really being welcome in their home. We met Craig (local GP with a very dry sense of humor, which we loved) and one of their daughters a bit later in the day and both were wonderful! The room was bright and had a vase of flowers and some water set out for us. The bed was comfortable and we slept quite well. One of the best parts of staying there was the advice from Annick and Craig about getting into and out of Dublin, which buses to ride (this information is frustratingly absent from all internet resources), attractions to see, etc. However, I have to say, the highlight of the trip was the AMAZING breakfast set up we awoke to every morning. The care shown while preparing it was so touching. Annick even figured out which mug I liked to use for tea and would set it out for me! She also set out fresh coffee for my boyfriend. We had granola, fresh-baked scones, brown bread, fresh fruit, yogurt, and various condiments. We also had the pleasure of meeting all of their animals: Apple, the adorable and elderly dog, Cat, the friendly and nosey cat and the three Ladies, the outdoor chickens. I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is, but I'll just leave you with the following: You will not regret booking here and any time we are in Dublin, this is where we will stay.
Annick and Craig could not have been more welcoming. The Corner House was exactly as described, and the location in Newtownmountkennedy is perfect for access to Dublin. and the beautiful Wicklow Mountains.
Annick and Craig were everything we could have hoped for...welcoming, informative, funny and generous of spirit.
They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, even lending us bikes (and coffee stop annotated map) so we could see the local area 'by pedal'.
The breakfast was divine and warranted 2 hours to slowly wake up and take in the wholesome and fresh offerings in such lovely surroundings.
We would recommend The Corner House to anyone and hope to return one day.
