Our house is in the very centre of Newtownmountkennedy, a small village nestled in between the Irish sea and the Wicklow mountains. With quick and easy access to Dublin via the N11 and frequent fast buses, Newtownmountkennedy is the perfect distance to travel in and out of Dublin. We are 5 minutes drive to the sea and 10 minutes drive west to the Wicklow mountains. It is a great area for cycling and walking.
1 Double Bedroom
1 Single Bedroom
The 2 rooms for rent have a bathroom next to them which has a shower, washbasin and toilet. We provide clean, fresh sheets and towels. You are welcome to use our big country kitchen, sitting room and 2 bathrooms. There is access to a PC wireless internet, fax and printer. There are two gardens you can use. We have a warm wooden-floored multi-use space that you can use for yoga or other exercises.
I live here with my husband and our daughter. We have 4 other children who live away from home but who visit. We have a lovely, gentle dog and a cat. They mainly stay outside. My husband is the local GP in the village and I work part-time as a teacher in the local primary school.
The house is close to Dunnes supermarket, pharmacy and bookshop. There is a hotel across the road from the house which has a restaurant and also good bar food. There are chinese & indian takeaways within 50 meters. There are also two pubs in the village, one which serves good food.
This area is great for hiking and cycling and there are some beautiful places to visit not too far away one of them being Glendalough which is nestled in the Wicklow mountains. A monastic settlement, it has a beauty of its own with two lakes surrounded by forests and mountains.
We provide private parking for guests. Newtownmountkennedy is 35k south of Dublin. Our house is in the middle of the village, 20 metres away from the bus stop. The 133 Bus Eireann takes you directly into Dublin city centre every hour. The Dublin Bus No.184 connects the village to Greystones & Bray every 30mins.
This home and family are both truly lovely. Brilliant, friendly Irish hospitality.
Particular highlights for us were:
The farmhouse kitchen.
The homemade bread and jam and tea when we arrived.
We only stayed for one weekend but my girlfriend and I had such a lovely time and felt so relaxed and welcome we are planning to go back for a longer stay.
Staying with Annick, Craig and their daughter Kiri, really felt like home from home. The whole family, were so kind, concerned and warm. I would certainly come back to them again, whenever I visit Ireland. Thanks a million Annick and Craig, for the wonderful time I had with you.
The Bishops welcomed us very warmly.
They invited us to the beach for a walk and then showed us a place to eat. When we came back to sleep in the lovely bedroom, they made tea and lent us a water bottle.
Our time with them was perfect, even the animals were so nice ! Thanks a lot.
We felt so at home with Annick and Craig, we came in late after sight seeing and were welcomed with tea, flap jacks, and conversation. Their daughter was a treat, it was interesting to hear about her school. They have a dog (Apple) and cat (Lazy long cat), they helped with the home sickness (we were missing our dogs). We planned to stay one night, but the scones and soda bread convinced us to stay another (among many other things) LOL. Annick was very friendly and rather motherly in caring and Craig was fun and laid back. The entire family just put you at ease. The location was convenient; post office, grocery, and restaurants, in town. Dublin, Glendalough, Gray Stones, and the beach close drive. We loved it so much we were spoiled for the next B&B. It was our first stop in Ireland. They were very well traveled as well and had many stories to share. If we could, we would have probably moved in with them. ;-)
I could not have landed with a better experience on my first few days in Ireland! Annick and family are so gracious, welcoming and caring..I very much enjoyed our conversations and only wished I had more time. Their home is located right in the center of the village so all of the conveniences are within walking distance.....parking was easy and I was met with an immediate warm sense of home as I stepped through their green gate in to the courtyard....and clearly there's an artistic flair that Annick imparts....simply delightful. The large kitchen is a convivial gathering place. ..I loved the bedroom with the window looking out to the dominant chestnut trees and the bed was so comfortable! Their location has proximity to Glendalough and the monastic ruins which I'm so glad I gave time in my travels to experience. The Kennedy pub has great food and the bartender is super friendly. My deepest gratitude to the Bishop family!
I originally was going to stay for one night but ended up staying for two because Annick's home is very comfortable and inviting. Its a great alternative to staying in the city if you want a more peaceful visit. Annick's was very helpful and kind. She has a wonderfully talented and intelligent family as well.
The place is close enough to get to Glendalough and Dublin easily which I visited both during my stay. There is also a nice area for a walk if you don't want to travel outside of the town.
This Irish Haven in Wicklow Village is a true gem. Both the hosts and the home are incredibly warm and welcoming. The home is extremely well-kept, charming and decorated like a beautiful B & B. There is ample space to enjoy the garden, a tasteful sitting room or the spacious kitchen. I loved waking up to homemade bread and freshly baked scones and coming home to someone to share my day with or a room to myself if I wanted. Annick and her whole family took part in sharing visitor tips and I was able to get to their home from Dublin AND visit the beautiful countryside all by bus (whose stop is steps from their front door!) This Irish Haven offers a real connection to a wonderful place. I would visit this place again in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it to all.
A nice trip, Annick was just a lovely person to help us for our night there, thanks a milion!
Annick is a quirky lady in country Ireland, south of Dublin. She and hubby live in an older house full of interesting nooks and crannies. Annick was very warm and welcoming and interested in us as people, not clients. She also has many interesting stories of her own. Full marks to Annick and her husband.
This is a gorgeous, old house full of love and a lifetime of memories. The rooms are very comfortable and the inhabitants even more comfortable! It was lovely talking with the family and getting to know the fur babies! Do not turn down a chance to savor a homemade flapjack! For those who are not in the know, I'll let you discover this treat on your own! Best. EVER!
