If you want to see the real Bali, this is the place. We have some beautiful ceremonies involving hundreds of people all dressed in ceremonial costume. They parade through the streets with music and color and it is a real spectacle. Open air cremations are held on the beach at Pantai Karang, 5 minutes walk from Hardys. You can watch from the sidelines but please do not get involved in the proceedings.

There is always a taxi, Bluebird have meters, but during the evening and nights you may be charged extra. There is nothing you can do but nego it a bit. If you are coming or going to say, Seminyak, then you can either get a driver from Sanur, (see Dayu for info) which is actually much better than a taxi, or hire a taxi from either end of your journey.
Lots of hire vehicles, but make sure you have an international drivers licence, insurance (hospital stay is very expensive ) and knowledge of riding a scooter if you want to hire one, as they can be dangerous and these roads are busy. You must wear a helmet and footwear at all times and have your licence and visitors registration (Manager will arrange) on you, and a copy of your medical insurance, with an emergency contact written somewhere.. If you have all your paperwork in order you are never bothered by the police. Save you getting a fine. RIDE SAFELY.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 16 days in June. The apartment was very spacious, clean and lovely furnished. Everything just like in the pictures and description! We felt very comfortable! :)
The place is located in a quiet part of Sanur, surrounded by private houses of local people. To reach the beach, harbour and the main part of Sanur, you have to walk at least 20 minutes, also across the highly frequented main road. We didn't rent a scooter, so walking this distance every day, was quite far.
This was our second stay at Pondok Gaya and again we had a fantastic time. Located in a quiet secure location with easy access to Sanur and walking distance to the beach (20 minutes). Our room was clean, spacious and equip with air con, fridge, cable tv etc. Dayu and family are so friendly and made us feel very welcome from day one. We will definitely be booking here again :) Thank you x
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 21 days. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Although it is not walking distance to the main strip of shops and restaurants it is a great location for anyone. If you rent a motor scooter from Dayu the location couldn't be easier. Apartments were clean and spacious. Once a week we had our place cleaned for free and they gave us clean linens for 38.000IDR. Great place to stay for a relaxing vacation.
Really great place in a quite side of Sanur, place it's like in the pictures, if you like what you see book it.
The apartment was nice and the people were always nice and helpful. The attachment was always clean and tidy. So we had a great stay in Bali.
We booked a week here for our daughter who is traveling in Bali and these are her comments:
Pondok Gaya is a lovely, well maintained, private place to stay. The pool is a nice bonus. The units are very self-sufficient and the manager is friendly. You need to have a phone to call him if there are any issues. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in my unit wasn't working, but otherwise it was a nice stay.
