DO THIS (OR YOUR REQUEST/INQUIRY MIGHT GET DECLINED)!:
To stay here, make sure you have completed some AirBnB verifications (https://www.airbnb.com/help/question/269) and filled out your profile info.
Note that this House listing is in the same house from which I've listed the rental of my sleeper sofa: http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/146332, so you can see pictures of the rest of the house and yard there (until I get all the photos posted on this listing, too!)
PRICING: see the "Other things to note" section down below for add'l pricing info.
THE HOUSE: 1926 Craftsman House, which comes with the charm and the quirks of an old house. With that comes things like a stove that might take more than a couple seconds to ignite, or windows that get a little stuck, so you have to hit them a little bit to jar them unstuck, or imperfect tile and doorjams - and other things like that.
Hardwood floors throughout, except kitchen and bathroom that have tile.
I selected "Real Bed" as the bed type here, but, that is because there is only one selection I can make. What it should actually say is "1 Real Bed (in the bedroom), 1 pull-out Sofa Sleeper (very comfortable, in living room) & 1 inflatable air mattress".
BEDROOM: Has comfortable queen-size Tempur-Pedic - so we're talking about a comfortable night's sleep. The bedroom itself is simple and clean. The bed does squeak when getting in or out of it, not loud, but worth noting - but I've been sleeping on it like that for 8 years since I don't know how to make the squeaking stop. Despite the amusing squeakage, it is a great night's sleep!
Very comfortable sleeper-sofa ("Ikea Ekeskog"), that easily sleeps 2 people. 3 people isn't too crammed, either! If you read about this sofa online, you'll see two things: 1. most comfortable sleeper sofa there is and 2) stupid design for the seatcushions in sofa mode, so they often slip off when sitting. This adds up to a great night's sleep, but a little annoying in sofa mode.
KITCHEN: Large with serving/entertaining window/bar between it and living area. Not modern, but everything works.
BATHROOM: simple full bathroom with stand-up shower (not bathtub).
THE PROPERTY: There is a back yard that is shared with another unit that is at the back of that yard. There is also a front yard.
My backyard has a big food garden in it (and sometimes of year, it is just a big patch of dirt), and decent little patio table area - so that is a comfie place to chill out or have a bite - and the wi-fi reaches out there, too. Oh, and there's a little fire container for warming up to at night.
Any other questions about me, my place or my area - please ask!
Kitchen, bathroom, yard/patio/garden, driveway, BBQ grill (upon request), wireless internet.
* Bikes at $10/day (if we're not using them).
* Surfboards at $10/day (the soft-top foam type you get at Costco. If interested, ask before you book to see if they're actually here to be available to you)
Interaction with Guests
My interaction with guests would range from lots, (if I'm staying in the other house on the property at same time they're here, and we both feel like interacting), to none (if I'm out of town while they're here) - to anything in between.
MY LOCATION: I live in a central, convenient and fun area of town ("North Park"), near restaurants, cafés, bars, grocery, parks, shopping - but I'm in residential part, couple blocks removed from all the activity - very good positioning.
Very popular neighborhood these days. Lots of people moving in, building businesses, and visiting here for shopping, eating, nightlife, classes, art, culture.
Be sure to check out the Guidebook I made at https://www.airbnb.com/manage-listing/585457/guidebook to see some of my recommendations
We're 2 -15 minutes walking distance from several bus stops that connect to all over town.
About a 1 hour bus trip to airport, if I remember correctly. (as of Jan 2014: 2 buses at $2.25 each ($5.50 total), or else get the $5 day unlimited pass).
There is a single lane driveway you can use, and you may need to share it if anyone else staying on the property while you're here.
There is also street parking, which usually allows for parking within sight of the property.
Other Things to Note
The $50/night per add'l guest is when less than a week rental. If rental is a week or more, I can make special offer for lower price on add'l guests :-)
Also, even though airBnB doesn't allow the pricing to automatically reflect this, I can manually lower the price per extra guest for you if there are more than 3 of you. Guests 2 and 3 are each $50/night, guests 4-6 are each $30/night.
DOING GOOD: We try to maintain this house in all the right ways (i.e. reusing disposable bags/containers/utensils, diverting grey water to lawn/garden, composting, recycling, etc).
MY PET: I sometimes have my girlfriend's dog in my house (As of now (Aug. 2014), no dog here since July 1, 2014).
If you are allergic to dogs, let me know and I can do an even deeper clean than usual (if necessary), and make sure to not let the dog in soon before your arrival. I have no carpet, so know that there is very little allergens trapped in this house (I have allergies, so I stay on top of it). Even my front yard grass is hypo-allergenic :-) (seriously, not kidding)
YOUR PETS: I can't allow cats (I'm allergic), but I can MAYbe allow your dog (let's discuss), and more likely your bird, fish or lizard :-)
Please keep cigarette smoking out of the house.
Wipe your shoes, or remove them, before coming in.
Clean up after yourself.
Lock the doors whenever nobody is home.
No bonfires in the house.
That's about all I think of right now :-)
Great house, great location, and great host. Ted was very friendly and accommodating. The tempurpedic mattress was also excellent. Stay here if you're looking for a spot in North Park close to where the fun is!

Sometimes, I'm available to show guests around, take them places, have fun with them - and sometimes I'll just be able to offer them a place to crash. I HOPE that I'll be available to be social with all of them!
I'm usually busy with something, often flexible :-)
