Cute well decorated cottage in the North Sea area of Southampton.

North Sea is a historic area of Southampton, NY. The cottage is located just behind one of Long Island's largest bodies of fresh water, Big Fresh Pond. It is also located about a 5-10 minute bike ride from Wolf Swamp Sanctuary, the Conscience Point National Wildlife Refuge, Scallop Pond and the North Sea Harbor. This area is one of the most beautiful and historic in all the Hamptons. It's where the English settlers landed back in the mid 1600's!!!

The cottage is located just about a mile from the Southampton Jitney stop on the 27 and from the Southampton train station and less than a mile up the road from the Southampton Village.

The cottage boasts a gated private front yard with lounge chairs, BBQ grill, fire pit, beautiful lush garden, fresh herb garden and perfect for outdoor lounging from the late Spring to the early Fall months.

The cottage is an open studio loft style free standing house with a full kitchen with all the cooking utensils you will need. A full bathroom with shower and a sleeping loft as you can see in the pictures with a queen size bed Tempurpedic mattress (most comfortable mattress EVER!) The sleeping loft also has a window so it doesn't feel stuffy or claustrophobic up (email hidden) is a low ceiling loft that one cannot stand up in but it has plenty of room.

Please note that the main sleeping area is a queen size sleeping loft with two built in large side tables located up the stairs and above the living room it is a queen size but if you are very tall or not able to climb and descend stairs to or from a sleeping loft this probably won't be the right place for you to sleep while here.

The other sleeping option here is the Ikea Ektorp fold out sleeper sofa located in the living room below the sleeping loft. This is a perfect spot for watching a movie in bed as it's in the living room where the TV is. For those who know this is a VERY comfortable, if not THE most comfortable sleeper sofa bed on the market. The mattress is a mini tempurpedic style memory foam mattress. It is full size and fits 2 people very comfortably. This is an option if you do not want to use the sleeping loft. It is super easy to open up and put back.

Up to 4 people can sleep comfortably here but it is really meant for 2 people but if it's just a few days then it won't be a problem as I'm sure you'll be out most of the time! If you decide to have 3-4 people there will just be not a lot of privacy as it is an open loft style house, however the 2 "beds" are separated as one is on top in the loft and the sofa bed is located under the sleeping loft. There are also 4 outdoor lounge lounge chairs and enough chairs for 4 people to sit around the fire pit so everyone can chill out together in the garden!

WIFI and a TV w/built in DVD player and lots of DVD's to choose from or bring your own.

There are plenty of linens, towels, beach towels and extra pillows and blankets located in the closet and the chest in the living room for up to 4 people.

Bathroom is equipped with a hairdryer, and even a curling iron for the ladies!

Great heating in the winter months! Great AC in the Summer months! Please always turn off the AC when leaving, do not leave it on when not there please to conserve energy. :-)

Windows to garden in every corner.

Plenty of closet space available!

2 Bikes are available to use while you are renting as well as 2 beach umbrellas, a cooler, classic picnic basket, 4 beach chairs and plenty of beach towels for 4 people.

Biking distance to Main St. in the Southampton Village (about 20 minutes) and tons of great restaurants and shopping. Just a straight line down about 1 mile or so.

Minutes away from the most gorgeous beaches in America...Cooper's Beach (non-resident parking available here for a fee), drive your car or ride the bikes!

**During the summer season (May 15-Sept. 15 usually) parking fee's apply at most beaches from Memorial Day to Labor Day and there is no parking permit because permits are issued to the car and not a hanging placard that can be shared unfortunately. Road D Beach on Meadow Lane in Southampton is FREE PARKING! Get there early though during the summer months! Mecox Beach is for non-residents as well, but parking fee's of about $20 apply.

This will be a magical and private Hamptons experience with all the comforts of home!!

Plenty of parking available as well.

Fresh fish market, liquor store and deli grocery store across the street!!!

Just on the corner is the North Sea Tavern, open late serves dinner late (great food too) and great live music and great rowdy local crowd!

  • We had a great time at Joie's place! Everything was well maintained and comfortable. Joie was an extremely accommodating host. There was an internet outage when we first arrived and Joie immediately called the cable company to fix it! We would definitely return for another weekend getaway.

  • Sweet little place, super clean and tidy, got everything, private outdoor space and the pub close by is great and good prices too

  • We loved this cute little cottage for our stay in South Hampton! Joie was great, showed us a few local spots and made some awesome suggestions of things to check out. Her place is so adorable, cozy and comfy. She has done a great job of making the backyard private (there is a family living next door) and you feel like you are in another world. Would come back here again!

    Response from Dawnella:

Thanks Jessie! I would welcome you back anytime! I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay! Glad you got to have a great bike ride at the end too!
    Take care,

  • The "cottage" was clean and nicely furnished, the loft bed was very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped.
But this is more of a guest room than a cottage. We were 3 people and it was cramped. Once you open the sofa bed there is no sitting area or space to move around. And the sofa bed was called "the rock" as it was not very comfortable.
Joie was adequately helpful but I wouldn't go so far as to say she was a host in any way.

    Response from Dawnella:

Donna was very "misinformed" as she never read my House manual and contacted me several times with questions that would have been answered IF she had read the House Manual. It's also evidently clear that she also never bothered to look at any of the pictures because they are 100% accurate and clearly show it is a loft style open spaced cottage, not a "guest room". My HOUSE is really meant for 2 people, however it does sleep up to 4 people COMFORTABLY. Many reviews below mention how comfortable the sofa bed is. I cannot please everyone, some people prefer a firm mattress and some a softer one. This mattress is in the middle leaning slightly on the firmer side but in no way is it as hard as a rock.
Also, it seems after several times contacting me about things she should have seen in the House Manual she obviously became upset to attack me as a host because I didn't read for her and hold her hand through the whole check in experience, I was working and tried my best, you even ADMITTED that you never read the House Manual. Furthermore, why would anyone want to "move around" and "sit" once a sofa bed is opened??? A sofa bed is generally opened at bedtime, not during a "move around" and "sitting time". I can only do so much and if you chose not to read my description, House Manual and look at the pictures then blame your self, not me. Rent a bigger place and spend 3x the amount next time. Peace Out.

  • Overall a really great time. Its a bit cozy up in the sleeping area but you get used to it quickly. Love the location -- its about halfway between the beach and the bay, which is great for those looking to watch a sunset. Joie was excellent especially with her recommendations for things to do (including the sunset watching!).

  • Cute little bungalow and a great retreat for the weekend!

  • Does exactly what it says on the tin. A well kept cottage only a few miles from the best beach in America. There is a deli just across the street and a pub close enough to walk, but not so close that you can hear it. Had a great Hamptons experience. Driving has you in any Hamptons location in minutes, biking, within the hour. Perfect size for a couple, or four people who are very close.

  • Cottage is sweet, and if it hadn't rained most of the time we were there, it would have been nice to spend time in the yard. Even though there are other houses right there, it feels very private. Mattresses were very comfortable, including the sofa (website hidden) worked really well, too.

  • We had a very pleasant weekend stay in the cottage. The unit is very clean and it is as described in the profile. Joie is very helpful and hospitable and we felt comfortable there. Thank you!
