Interaction with Guests
Guests can choose total privacy or feel free to get in touch with us with any questions about the cottage or the local area. Our house shares the 5 acre property.
The Sunshine Coast is where the sea meets the mountains. A varied land and sea scape with much to offer. There are adventure tours, boat rentals, great cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding in winter, hiking and mountain biking galore in summer. Farmers markets and farm stands, beaches and parks to explore. Even some old growth forest left: see it while you can, and help protect it. It's a special part of the world.
There is a local bus stop right at the corner, and an express bus on the highway to get quickly to area towns, or the ferry.
Other Things to Note
Check in time is 3 PM, and check out is 11 AM. There is both cell service and wifi. Please note that there is a soaker tub only, no shower. Relax while bathing ;-) A full size fridge is in the mud room, there is a counter top convection oven, handmade and mismatched pottery funkiness, with a good chance of long grass and the occasional spiderweb. This is a family-friendly dog-inhabited shaggy round the edges property not a professional b'n b operation. The BBQ takes charcoal, let us know if you need a starter bag. There is a fire pit for campfires.
We only ask that you treat the cottage as your own for the time you are here, enjoying whatever measure of peace, privacy, and retreat suits your needs. This isn't a place for wild parties. It is a great home base from which to explore the Sunshine Coast.
I and my 2 sisters had an enjoyable relaxing time here for a sister getaway. The surroundings are lovely and quiet, with a creek close by, and within walking distance of beaches. Eric was very prompt at responding to emails, texts, etc., and helpful, even agreeing to send something I forgot back to me.
Immensely enjoyed our time here. This beautiful cottage is close to the restaurants/shops in Gibsons/Roberts Creek/Sechelt but far enough away if you need a quiet place to get away. Eric was very helpful — he provides a whole binder of information along with bookshelves full of local maps and publications. Make sure to check out the secluded public beach just down the street!
The cabin was cozy inside and in a lovely setting outside. Really close to the beach and to some nice short hikes. My husband and I really enjoyed our Family Day weekend there with our 1 year old son. We didn't realize quite how close to the road it was, but other than that everything was as we expected. Interesting and eclectic book collection, and the pottery dishes were a treat.
This listing was exactly as described, if not better. Eric made us feel completely welcome and happily answered any questions we had. We didn't get a chance to go say hi but it was nice to know we could at any time. We had a fantastic experience and are looking forward to going back as soon as we have the time.
About the Host, Eric
A new Canadian who runs a small theatre company with his wife and partner, and parents two young boys. I'm learning to fish, forage, garden, and be handy: skills I didn't learn as an urban-based theatre artist!
