About this listing
Delightful contemporary space ideal for two. Enjoy a 15 min walk into the centre along the river path/cycleway and return through Victoria Park. Local deli and gastro pubs closeby.
** NB No blinds on skylights **
Contemporary, independent studio with private access and courtyard. Sole use of facilities including, hob, microwave, fridge, kitchen sink and en-suite shower and wc. Fluffy white towels, welcome pack / breakfast basket included in rental: tea, coffee, milk, sugar, biscuits, OJ, croissants and jam.
If you are travelling with a young infant the studio also has space for a travel cot.
The studio does have two skylights which are uncovered - great for 'star - gazing' and waking naturally when daylight appears; although not so good if you value a completely darkened room for sleeping late in the mornings!
The studio is a 'no-smoking environment' and I ask that you treat our home with the respect that you would your own.
Guests have direct access to a courtyard for 'al fresco' dining - an extra space in which to relax after taking in all that Bath has to offer. The courtyard leads onto our sunny, peaceful garden.
We are located at the edge of the city centre yet within a level 5 minute stroll of Royal Victoria Park with its renowned Botanical Gardens. A 10 to 15 minutes walk through the park leads to the splendid Georgian architecture of The Royal Crescent and The Circus.
There is a bus stop just outside our home with a regular (every10 min) service to and from the centre. journey time approx 4 min.
The rail link to London has a journey time of 90 minutes.
Bristol Airport is around 35 minutes by car or taxi.
River Studio is a unique, peaceful haven, set within easy level walking of all that the historic city of Bath has to offer. You may arrive on foot, by bike, car, taxi, train or plane...... whatever suits......
The studio with off street parking is independent with separate access and private court yard - ideal for couples wishing to have independence with minimal contact with myself as host. However, as the studio is located to the rear of my home I am closeby if needed. An advantage over a private room is that you are free to come and go as you wish.
I can be flexible on arrival times although normally the studio is available for key collection from 15:30. I try to personally welcome guests to the studio, however, on occasion when I am away from home there is a key safe from which guests may collect the key.
Interaction with Guests
I usually am around to welcome guests although I have found most of my guests find the privacy of the studio attractive. as mentioned, on the odd occasion I am away there is a safe key and the welcome pack includes usual housekeeping details: wifi code TV operation etc. I always leave a breakfast basket with tea, coffee, milk, croissants, biscuits, cereals, OJ & jam.
Guests have the studio to themselves with minimal interaction - although they may sometimes hear us as we come and go via the separate gate into the garden.
Located a level, traffic free walk along the river path / cycle way into the city. Our local urban farm / coffee shop the Grocer on Locksbrook - they do a great range of local produce and superb cooked breakfast!
Buses stop very close by (Windsor Villas stop) for the short hop back from town on those rainy days!
Other Things to Note
The studio is all electric and has smoke alarm fitted.
Please respect the studio as you would your own home and leave it in a clean and tidy state :)
The studio is a no smoking environment.
On vacating the studio please wash up and leave towels and linen in the shower.
We recycle cardboard, plastic, glass and tins - please place these in the basket under the sink.
Thank you :)
We had a lovely stay at Maggi's.
Very quick to respond to messages and she was understanding about our late arrival time.
The studio is exactly like the pictures so there was no hidden surprises, and located only a short 15-20 minute walk into town - not a complicated route at all.
The breakfast for the morning was a lovely touch. The place had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay.
Would definitely stay again!
Our stay was great. The space is small but has everything you need for a short stay for two. Everything was clean and tidy, and the breakfast item provision was a big plus. If you're looking to spend time in the city centre, I would recommend having a car, as the studio is a bit removed from the action (which is a benefit in some ways as well). The host was quite helpful through out the booking process and our stay.
Thanks for your booking & kind words Maryann - yes we're about a 20 min level walk from the centre either along the river path or through Victoria Park. The no 14 bus stops outside - a short 5 min ride into the centre.
I trust your little dachshund enjoyed his romp around the garden & park. Delighted to be able to accommodate you with free off street parking!
Beautiful studio in quiet neighbourhood. Exactly as in the photos and description. Maggi was very pleasant. Highly recommend when staying in bath!
Maggi was a lovely host and the studio was exactly how it looked in photos and described. I would recommend friends to stay there.
My parents enjoyed their stay. Thanks for preparing the breakfast thats really sweet of you. Will definitely recommend this place to my friends in future. Thanks Maggi.:)
We really enjoyed our weekend break at this apartment. It is a stand alone unit with it's own entrance at the back of the Maggi's house. It was clean and tidy and everything was in working order as described.
The location is right beside the River Avon and had easy access to the riverside walkway which we used to have a lovely leisurely 15 min stroll into the centre of town. The surrounding parks are also lovely for a stroll through. We recommend The Marlborough Tavern for a lovely lunch/dinner. The Grocer (just around the corner from the apartment) is great for breakfast or just a quick coffee.
All in all, a great place in a great location!
My girlfriend and I stayed at Maggi's little studio for two days whilst we explored Bath. We found the studio to be absolutely gorgeous with everything you'd need. Maggi was a warm and welcoming host who kindly provided an assortment of amenities such as biscuits, croissants and OJ. The walk into the city was a little longer than we anticipated, but was easily done nonetheless.
Would definitely recommend to anyone.
About the Host, Maggi
I've lived in Bath for many years with my son, Fi-fi the cat and Otto, a joyful, inquisitive spaniel, neither are permitted into the studio:)
In a city that's surrounded by hills it is great to be just 7 minutes by bike along the river path into the city with its and excellent choice of restaurants, bistros and gastropubs. Each month there is something to do or see: exhibitions, festivals, cinemas and theatres..... with places to stop and chat over coffee around most corners.
Taking time out to relax at the Thermae Spa with its roof-top pool is a wonderful way to spend a few hours!
We have a mediterranean-style, urban garden which catches the sun and is filled with the scent of lavender and rosemary.
I look forward to welcoming you to the city and River Studio.
