Evelyn was very hospitable and welcoming. She patiently explained to us the do' s and don'ts in and around Puerto Rico, very resourceful. Listen to her recommendations for food places. Evelyn also trusted us and went away for a couple of days. This is huge for her to trust us, strangers, with her apartment.
Also, our flight was delayed by a day due to storm in our home city. The host accommodated us for an additional day (since we went a day late, our departure was also one day later than our booking) without any additional charge!! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in the beauty of Puerto Rico.
Evelyn was an extremely kind and gracious host. She gave us tons of tips about the local area and even shared some of her home made goodies. Old San Juan was beautiful and the apartment had awesome views off the large balcony. The restaurant directly across the street, st. Germaine's was phenomenal for brunch. I would definitely go back and stay in this romantic, rustic, well located old San Juan apartment.
I had a fantastic stay in this apartment. Evelyn, the on-site contact person, made me feel right at home. She recommended non-touristy local coffee houses, restaurants, and sightseeing locations to check out. The apartment itself is well-maintained and perfectly situated in the middle of Old San Juan. Highly recommended for travelers who want to avoid hotels and instead immerse themselves in the city and its culture.
Eva was very helpful to both me and my girlfriend. She was able to answer every question that we had about Puerto Rico and even gave us contacts for us to call to make a last minute tour reservation of El Yunque rainforest. The place was clean and the room was large. The views to the traditional bright colored housed through the Terrance was my favorite part of the apartment and the location was perfect (right in the heart of old San Juan ). I would definitely stay there again.
We had a great time. The apartment was in a perfect location. Evelyn was awesome and gave us great recommendations for things to do around town!
I stayed with my girlfriend at Shell's apartment for 4 nights in July. Evelyn (Shell's mom) was out gracious host. She was super nice, met us when we first arrived and warmly welcomed us into the apartment. She gave us a map and plenty of suggestions of things to do, places to eat and places to visit in Old San Juan and even places elsewhere on the island. She was wonderful and would not mind sharing the apartment with her again.
The apartment is exactly as in the pictures, clean, spacious, well kept and the bed is very comfortable. Sharing the one bathroom among the three of us was never an issue and the water in the shower had sufficient pressure and warm enough if you wanted it. The weather was very warm outside, and it felt pretty warm inside the apartment as well since the portable ac units are only located in the bedrooms. We didn't spend a whole lot of time in the apartment during the day so it wasn't a big issue. At night, the ac unit and the ceiling fan kept the room cool and lowered the humidity enough in order to sleep comfortably.
The location was superb, close to everything in Old San Juan and you can walk anywhere in the city in a matter of minutes. I rented a car for trips outside of Old San Juan and upon our nightly returns to OSJ i was always able to find free parking on the streets within a few blocks of the apartment.
I would definitely recommend Shell's apartment for anyone who is visiting OSJ and is looking for an economical, clean, conveniently located place to stay with a homely feeling.
Thank you for your hospitality Evelyn!
Old San Juan is in one word, breathtaking. It is a colonial style town with wonderful old Spanish architecture and has splashes of beautiful color on it's wonderful canvas. My husband and I we're looking to stay in OSJ for a few days for our friends wedding and could not have found a more perfect apartment than this one. It is very lovely with very high ceilings, beautifully furnished and well kept. Everything is within reach, whether it's dancing and night life, Creole cuisine, or some fantastic shopping. There is a ferry nearby that will take you to the otherwise of the island where you can visit places like the Bacardi factory. There is parking for cars nearby but don't bother. The streets are quite narrow and parking is at a minimum. You wont need a car anyway with all the fantastic things just a couple paces away. Eva was a wonderful and kind host and we were delighted to have met her. Everything went as smooth as possible. Thanks Eva!

As a textile and design junkie with a knack for repurposing old furniture and a passion for sharing resources and living communally, this loft seemed the perfect space to call home. In the nearly five years I’ve been living here, this space has allowed me to play host to many amazing, interesting, loving and generous people from around the world. Because of its size and layout it has granted me many opportunities to host creative and community events. I like to cook, love to eat and love love love a great dinner party or an all day marathon Sunday brunch (which have become quite popular around here). Opening my loft to be shared with travelers who become friends has been the most positively life altering decision I’ve ever made. With each ephemeral shared experience my faith in the positive power of living in/ with community is exponentially affirmed. As characters in a great novel, each guest who stays seems to unfold a little more of the story. I cannot ask for a better life.
