The space
Secluded, park-like feel, located on a 1 acre estate, overlooking 15 acres of green space; yet, the property is located in-town (Kailua-Kona), close to airport (but no airport noise or overhead planes), and close to shopping and tourist areas. Note, this unit is one of 2 guest apartments located on the main floor of this 2 story personal residence. The floor plans of both apartments are a mirror image of each other. The only difference between the two units is that the South unit has an extra window in the bedroom and living room because it is on the end of the house. The apartments are furnished identically except that the bed frame is different in the two units and each of the units has slightly different art work. There is a set of locking back-to-back double doors between the units that can be unlocked to combine the two apartments to accommodate families or groups traveling together. Each apartment sleeps 2 people but if both units are rented, the apartments will sleep a total of 6 people, with 2 people in each bedroom (sharing a queen mattress) and 2 people sharing a queen sized air mattress (high quality, non-bouncy, and comfortable), in the living room of one apartment. Hawaii state "sales" and "hotel" taxes are included in the day rate.

Covid Cleaning Notes: This property has implemented enhanced Covid 19 cleaning measures. Whenever possible, at least 48 hours of vacant time will be maintained between each reservation, and, per industry guidelines, whenever possible, cleaning will be completed no less than 24 hours before guest check-in. The property is immaculately maintained and is deep-cleaned & disinfected between each reservation. All areas of the unit are thoroughly cleaned and all linens (towels, sheets, mattress pads, blankets, bed spreads, and bed runners) are cleaned and disinfected between guests. All horizontal surfaces, furniture, and high-touch areas are cleaned and disinfected, using EPA/CDC approved Covid-19-killing-products, between each guest. Each room is treated with UV disinfecting light between each guest. Glasses, dishes, cooking utensils, pots & pans, and silverware will be clean but sanitization of these items cannot be guaranteed because there is no dishwasher in the unit; however, disposable paper/plastic plates, bowls, glasses and silverware are provided for your convenience and added protection.

Covid 19 HVAC Notes: This unit has a completely separate air conditioning system and there is no shared duct-work or "shared-air" between this unit and any other unit.

Covid 19 Condiment Notes: We typically provide basic condiments, such as coffee creamer, mustard, ketchup, mayonaise, jelly, salad dressing, soy sauce, etc... free of charge. However, for sanitary reasons, bottles of these items will not be provided during the pendency of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, to the extent such items are available for purchase in single serving packets (i.e. creamer, mustard, ketchup, mayo, soy sauce, and/or jelly packets) at the local Costco store, these items will be provided at no cost.

Covid Quarantine Notes: Hawaii has implemented strict Covid-19 quarantine requirements that may affect the quality of your vacation and may affect your ability to stay at this property.
In this regard, note that separate quarantine requirements are imposed by the State of Hawaii and the County of Hawaii. These requirements are beyond our control and are subject to periodic change by proclamation of the Governor of the State of Hawaii or the Mayor of the County of Hawaii as state and local pandemic conditions wax and wane.

The State of Hawaii requires a 10 day post-arrival quarantine which can only be avoided by compliance with the State's pre-travel testing protocol. In short, a negative (must be negative, not inconclusive) Covid-19 test result from a pre-approved lab within 72 hours prior to travel will allow you to bypass the state-imposed 10 day quarantine. You are solely responsible for researching and complying with the pre-testing protocol and should carefully review the State requirements to ensure that you obtain the correct type of test, from a state-approved lab, within the correct time-frame relative to your travel itinerary.

If you test positive or inconclusive on the pre-travel test, you and anyone else you are traveling with, will not be allowed to stay at our property because County ordinance prohibits visitors from quarantining in a short term vacation rental. You are cautioned that if you test positive or inconclusive and are not allowed to stay at our property, the County of Hawaii requires that you quarantine at a hotel; if this occurs, it will be your responsibility to find and book alternate accommodations at your sole cost and expense.

For additional information regarding state and county Covid-19 travel restrictions, please look to the State of Hawaii and County of Hawaii Covid-19 informational web pages as well as any travel bulletins from the Hawaii Tourism Authority.

Because of the strictly enforced state and county quarantine regulations, you will be required to provide proof that you are not required to quarantine before you will be given keys to the property. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

The neighborhood is secluded, quiet and serene consisting of a small grouping of nice homes on 1 and 2 acre estates and overlooks a 15 acre undeveloped "green space". We have lots of wild birds that wander the neighborhood and depending on the time of year, the weather, and the seasonal native food supply, you might see wild turkeys, kalij pheasants, parrots, hawks, egrets, francolins, cardinals, saffron finches, yellow canaries, mejiros, lavendar and common waxbills, java sparrows and much more...
