Beatifully restored south facing village house in the south of France Sleepy village with sheep rabbits, forest and beautiful views. near Rennes le Chateau in French Cathar country. Beautiful walks start at the door.
The house has two double bedrooms. There is a trundle bed in the living room which can be a single or a double when it is not simply made up as a day bed. Three WC's two bathrooms including walk in shower bathroom, double sinks.
The kitchen has a granite work top top and a spacious fridge, It is very well equipped combining modernity with traditional materials.
The house is very well insulated and cool in the summer and very comfortable in the winter with oil central heating. There is also a laundry.
The village is perched on a hill with wondrous views. There is a daily bread van and only 10 minutes drive away are two market towns and many other attractions. The area is known for its massive diversity of plant and wildlife species, walking tracks, Roman and medieval ruins. Particularly famous for Cathar castles and recently the mystery of Rennes le chateau. Also close to skiing and the Mediterranean sea. Carcassonne, Toulouse, Lourdes and Carcassonne are all typical day trips
Unless keen cyclists a motor is almost obligatory.
The house is beautifully finished and Visitors are invited to use the chateau garden and its impressive range of aromatic herbs.
Guests use the laundry which has a tumble drier, the chateau terrace and herb garden, the sun trap pedaestrian ruelle outside the front door, a barbecue and table a stone`s throw away on the west side of the chateau.

We live very nearby and so unless exceptionally we are away we see a lot of our guests

Not from the village itself. 7 miles away in Quillan yes. Bikes are available for hire.
The SNCF trains arrive from Carcassonne to Esperaza and to Quillan.
Other Things to Note
We have a very well stocked herb garden and love to share our herbs with the guests. The chateau has an association and there are sometimes very good concerts on in the summer evenings or afternoons.
The house is ideal for groups, families or individuals seeking peace and quiet. Parking is easily available and two market towns are within in a reasonable bike ride but there is only a bread van that comes to the village once a day.
The house is very well equipped. Linen is not provided but is available for 10 Euros per stay per guest. If you wish to have the house completely cleaned for you upon departure there is an optional cleaning service provided for 30 Euros otherwise the Maison d'Eglise is well equipped for guests to give the house a little clean before their departure.
