Quiet Flat with gorgeous terrace in the heart of atmospheric Trastevere, just a short hop over the Tiber river from Campo de' Fiori.
This gorgeous apartment perfectly mixes the bohemian atmosphere of Trastevere with stylish, sophistication.
Offering a lovely terrace overlooking the rooftops of Rome as well as a working piano, this is the perfect retreat for those looking for the artistic side of Rome.
Trastevere, a typical Roman neighborhood, is full of narrow, winding, irregular streets as a result of the haphazard conglomeration of rich villas and poor decrepit homes in this multi-cultural area which is within walking distance of most of Rome’s attractions including the Pantheon, Campo de Fiori, Piazza Navona, Coliseum and the Vatican. It is also the home to the best restaurants of the city.
High wooden ceilings and parquet floors add to the charm of the cozy living room. This charming room is equipped with a LCD TV, and a couple of sofas (one sofa turns into a sofa bed). Through the archways there is another couch with a desk.
A bright dining room decorated with beautiful and original furniture and a fully equipped kitchenette, with stove and fridge give you the option of preparing and enjoying excellent Roman dinners at home.
The peaceful master bedroom, with its queen size bed, has an en-suite bathroom with shower.
Yaroslav reviewed the apartment and use of the locks with us. Then we enjoyed the nice size of the living and dining room. All the best restaurants and shops are near by. Suggest you try dar Poeta for pizza and Marco G for a nice dinner. The bathroom and kitchen were small but manageable. We walked everywhere as the bridge to old Rome is just a few blocks away.
First - and most importantly, this location is very hard to beat. Hardly a better place in the city to be a home base for a walking tour of Rome. It is at the edge of the trendy Trastevere district - which is pack full of good food and drink spots. You can hear the rumble of the tourist mobs from the flat - but it is not disturbing. It is 10 minutes walk from the center of the old city - just over the river. Probably 25 minutes walk from Collosseum in one direction, and 15 minutes walk from the Vatican in the other.
Second - the flat is quite nice. Not fancy but adequate for 4 people. Very old building - but everything inside is pretty well renovated. Beds comfortable - even the pull out. The bathroom and kitchen are pretty basic - less than you'd want but fine as a trade-off for the price/location. Balcony is nice on a warm evening - though it won't fit more than 4 people comfortably.
Third - the experience with the host. I never spoke to Yaroslav - I think he was out of town. Worked with his assistant. There was a mistake with the phone number he gave us - and when we turned up, there was no way to reach him or his assistant. Took 3 hours for his assistant to locate our number in the booking record and call us (no thanks to Air bnb concierge) - which was a nervous business with no place to stay and no idea how to reach him. Make sure you double/triple confirm phone numbers and the meeting for the key exchange at the flat. Once that mix-up was sorted - happy to report that Yaroslav's assistant was extremely nice and accommodating.
We were there as a family - with two small kids (under 10). That worked out just fine; but I would note for other flat hunters that this neighborhood is really not that kid friendly. You will see families pushing strollers down the cobble-stone streets; but not that many. The throngs of 20-30-something tourists are pretty intense.
Yaroslav was there waiting for us when we arrived and very helpful. We stayed in march and the flat was quiet. Great location for restaurants and night life and so much more. The bed and pullout were both comfortable. A very enjoyable vacation. We would rent again.
I booked this place for my parents when they came to visit me (studying abroad) and they absolutely loved it!! It is truly "charming" and has very warm, welcoming, and large living areas. My parents were happy with the big bed in the bedroom and they were expecting to have problems with a small bathroom but found the shower to be quite nice and had no problems at all! My brother said the pull out couch he slept on was very comfortable. The location is great and central in Trastevere, but just a bit away from all the noise, which is nice. Would definitely recommend staying here!
Rome is a fantastic city and staying in Trastevere is ideal to enjoy the city. The apartment has a fantastic location and It is very cozy and confortable. Many places to eat are close by and It is walking distance from Santa Maria In Trastevere.
