Description

The space

$110 / 2br - Beautiful local architect designed two bedroom beach front house in Punta Uva.
5 minute walk to either Punta Uva or Playa Chiquita, two of the most beautiful, peaceful beaches in the Caribbean. Located 5 miles (8 KM) south of downtown Puerto Viejo.

Guest access

Peaceful and quiet independent two story home, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living and dining room with satellite TV and WIFI internet. Private gated property with gorgeous tropical garden.

Interaction with guests

I live in San Jose but will help you with anything I can over the phone, however the house caretaker lives close to the property and will be glad to help you with anything you need.

The neighborhood

Some of the neighbours include a family of sloths and several howler monkeys, It's so close to the beach that at night you'll you to sleep with the sound of the crashing waves.

Getting around

There's parking space for two cars in the property, it's easier to rent a car when travelling around the area, but there's also bicycle rentals nearby if you don't want to drive. The Puerto Viejo - Manzanillo bus stop is on the main entrance to Punta Uva.

Other things to note

The house is designed so that it's fresh and cool (there's no AC) so because of it's open design it might be common to find mosquitoes, there's nets over every bed, but mosquito repellent is highly recommended when visiting the south caribbean area.

House Rules
Check in is anytime after 4PM

It's our family's house, so it's available for families and groups of people that are looking to rest and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. The neighbourhood is quiet and calm, so it's expected of our guests to respect this.

Mauricio's house is fully equipped for all your daily needs, with a 2 minute walk to the beach and 5 minute walk to the supermarket. It's very convenient, clean and private. We enjoyed it a lot and would stay again without a doubt.

This beach house was perfect for our family of three. We had such a wonderful time and wished we had booked for the whole week. Likely we will try to come again next year! The house is just steps from two of the best beaches in Costa Rica. The snorkeling was beautiful and as easy as stepping into the water. We even saw a Manta Ray! The house was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly. You can walk to a variety of restaurants and a very well stocked grocery/convenience store. Mauricio, the owner and Veronica, the caretaker, were quick to respond and were very helpful. Thank you, thank you for a great beach vacation.

Amazing location - ocean views out front were better than expected from house description. Sloth in trees out front, daily parrots and great snorkeling a few minutes walk out the door made for great week. Don't miss jaguar rescue and Ara green macaw reserve nearby. Kids 6 and 8 loved open air living and would recommend this area of Caribbean side for families.

We spent a week in Mauricio's beach house and had the most relaxing time of our life. Each day consisted of waking to birds, monkeys, etc. then relaxing with coffee, hiking, beach time, relaxing with a cold beverage, dinner, bed, REPEAT. It was perfect! The location in Punta Unva, just outside of busy Puerto Viejo, was great especially with the short walk to 2 of the best beaches in the area. We snorkeled and swam everyday. We ate 2 nights at the closest restaurant, Bamboocha and had fish and chips one night and a local fish called Jurel on another evening. Both were mouth-watering! If we had stayed another night, I think we would have tried something from their Italian menu as the owners are Italian! We walked to Selvin's Restaurant on Thursday night (they are open Thurs-Sun). It's a 1.5 km walk, partly in the pitch dark :-) but we really preferred Bamboocha which is much closer and safer, especially when walking. On our way back from Selvin's, we even stopped at Bamboocha and got a piece of cake and some of their infamous rum drinks!!! The remaining 3 nights we cooked in. Mauricio's place has a stove, microwave and a toaster oven which were all that was needed for a fine meal! I want to mention that the mosquito nets were necessary and sufficient, at least the one in the middle bedroom (we called it the jungle room). You will love Mauricio's Place! We hope to make it back someday soon!

We stayed for 2 weeks at Mauricio's house (2 adults + 2 kids, 1.5 and 4 years) and absolutely loved it. The location is wonderful -- a stone's throw from 2 beautiful beaches and walking distance from a handful of restaurants that offer breakfast and lunch (no dinner). Amazing wildlife. We rented bikes with kid seats and were happy to do without a car. Gustavo, the caretaker, is right across the street and a huge help if you have questions about anything. 2 negatives: The electricity does go out on occasion, which also affects the running water. Be sure to keep a jug of water handy just in case. Also, the mosquito net in the master bedroom is full of holes and really needs to be replaced. Overall we loved our stay and hope to return in 2018.

We had a wonderful stay at this beach house by Punta Uva! The house had plenty of space and privacy for us to enjoy on our honeymoon in November 2016. The location is great: very close to one of the best beaches in the area (Punta Uva), and easy driving distance to Puerto Viejo town center or to Manzanillo Park. There was secure, easy parking for our rental car in the front driveway. This home was clean and had all the amenities we needed. Animals are living all around, and the jungle surrounds most of the property. Check-in and Check-out were smooth and quick, and the multi-lingual care-taker was laid back, and lived right across the street. We highly recommend this beach house to anyone visiting Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. PURA VIDA!
