Just at the top of the Dépanneur Cafe the roomoffers a small private balcony, a double bed and free breakfast. With Wi-Fi and kitchen. The room is very well suitée. Near the city center and near the Royal mount. The district Mile end is according to me the best of Montreal. There is a lot of restaurant, cafe and bar! St-Laurent street is very close and you can walk because everything is very neer.
We decided to go to Montreal last minute as well as try AirBnB for the first time. After looking through many of the listings, we found one for a small room on top of a cafe in the Mile End area of Montreal. Many times when travelling; people look for something authentic and frankly never find it. With Benoit, though, we did! We entered the bustling yet relaxed cafe and was greeted by a very friendly Benoit, led to our room and reminded that the room came with breakfast. It was a quiet and clean room and the area made it very accessible to Montreal. Breakfasts were amazing! And while you eat local musicians come in and out playing anything from an impromptu piano piece, a classic guitarist and even one artist who played harmonica, ukele and trombone. It was an amazing stay and experience and we would suggest it to like-minded creative folk.
Background: Traveled to Montreal en route to Quebec City. Two 30 year olds.
Benoit was a very good host. We had some flights from the states cancelled and didn't get in until after midnight but Benoit was accommodating and met us at the door when we arrived. The room in the apartment was cozy and as described.
Breakfast downstairs at the cafe was great! My girlfriend had the croissant and I had an omelette. Great food with some live music.
We would stay again.
The Depanneur was a very convivial cafe that offers warm homemade pastries and some delicious coffee with genuine service and a homey feel. Great place to have breakfast in the morning. The room is right above but no worries as the place closes down early so you should not be afraid of any noise. The room responded to all expectations, cosy, clean and with all necessary amenities to make you feel welcome
My boyfriend and I had a great experience staying at Benoit's apartment. We did not have much interaction with Benoit as he was very busy at the café, but he gave us the key and we had a lot of privacy. Overall a very good experience and a lovely location. The breakfast was awesome too.
The Dépanneur Café is a cosy and comfortable neighborhood cafe where they have live music - folk rock, jazz, flamenco, a lot of very creative and talented singers and musicians - and a great filling breakfast. The room upstairs is very comfortable - has everything that is necessary. Benoit welcomed me with great kindness even though I came in quite late. The neighborhood of Mile End is very funky with an interesting ethnic mix and good food. I can definitely recommend this option! Thanks Benoit!
Merci Benoit !
Benoit is a most wonderful host! His cooking is fantastic, the apartment is close to everything but also very quiet, and he is a great guide with local insight. It was my first trip to Canada and as a woman traveling alone that could be a little nerve-wracking, but Benoit gave excellent recommendations and even took me to a yoga class led by a friend of his when I asked for studio recommendations. I look forward to visiting again! I'd love to visit in the summer so I can sit on the balcony right off the room. :)
The room is exactly as posted online. Benoit was very accommodating and took us in last minute. The breakfast at his cafe was absolutely amazing and probably the best meal I had while in Canada. The cafe itself is adorable and there is constant live music. I really enjoyed the ambiance and hanging out for a while. Thank you Benoit!
