this place is a real treat if you want to have a quiete, calm time in the mountains with stunning views. we vame by bus and were happy with a day of hiking around the village. there is lots of interesting history here. the restaurant in the village is also very good. by car you can reach beaches, trebinje and dubrovnik in under 30 min. the drive itself is stunning. trebinje has an interesting history as well. so all in all: highly recommended!

I stayed here for a good two weeks and enjoyed it very much. Kristina and her mother Dusanka are great hosts, very warm and welcoming! Kristina stayed in touch the whole time and had some great tips and information, and Dusanka goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. The apartment is as shown on photographs; clean, spacious and comfortable. It has everything needed for a longer stay. The upstairs apartment shares the hallway and front door with the downstairs apartment, so you will hear / run into other tenants. The village of Ivanica is on the top of a hill. Besides great views it has little to offer, it has a small supermarket and a restaurant. But it's nice and quiet, which is a great retreat after a day in the busy streets of Dubrovnik :) I'd recommend having your own car if you're going to stay here. Dubrovnik is close, about 10 mins drive. Ivanica is just over the border in Bosnia & Herzegovina though, so you have to go through customs. I've crossed the border many times during the stay, it's usually very smooth, taking only minutes. The old city of Dubrovnik is beautiful, it really is. But if you don't want to find yourself dodging selfie sticks in a huge crowd, it helps to plan your visits. Check out the website of the port of dubrovnik, they have schedules of cruise ships arriving - the day to day difference could be several thousand people. And it helps to visit early in the morning, or later in the afternoon. If you have the time, it's also worth checking out other places from here. Trebinje (20 mins by car), Herzeg Novi in Montenegro (60 mins) and Mostar (2.5hr). Thanks Kristina and Dusanka for a great stay!

Kristina and Dusanka's place was fantastic, it was the best air bnb experience we have had by far. The information we were given before and during our stay was informative and really helpful and Kristina was really quick to respond and help us with any inquiries we had. Dusanka went out of her way to make our stay as great as possible. Picking us up from the border, driving us to the supermarket and welcoming us with fresh fruit, juice and coffee. The place was clean and spacious and included good kitchen facilities. If you come by car it can be a bit of a wait at the border crossing so best to go early in morning to avoid lengthy queues. However on foot it isn't a problem. We used uber and the local buses to get around. Thank you for everything, We couldn't have asked for more :-)

This flat was quite a find and certainly a talking point. Clearly my fault, I was looking to stay in Dubrovnik for one night and accidentally checked into Bosnia and Herzegovina. And how glad I was to get away from the hustle, bustle and extortionate prices of a few miles away. I thought London was expensive - not a patch on Dubrovnik!! Kristina's communication/directions and advice were spot on. Dusanka was the most welcoming of hosts and the flat was spotless. The information pack gave an real insight into what happened in this part of the world only a few years ago. A great place and just a few km from the beach and all those people - really pleased we stumbled across it.

I have been traveling around Europe solo for the summer and I couldn't be happier with my choice to stay at Kristina and Dusanka's place in Ivanica. From the moment I booked and throughout my stay Kristina kept in constant contact and was extremely helpful with tips on where to go and how to find buses I needed, even though she is in the United States. When I arrived in Ivanica Dasanka was gracious enough to meet me at the border and take me to the apartment. She was very kind and hospitable. I felt welcome and more like I was visiting an old family friend than paying to stay in someone else's home. The town is well positioned for visiting Dubrovnik and the surrounding areas, without being in the crowded city. Even though I didn't have a car it was easy to get to and from the property by bus and a short walk from the border. Everything was clean and the apartment was very nice. The apartment is spacious with a well equipped kitchen and a nice balcony. The internet worked pretty well, which was important for me as I had work I had to complete online. Even though Dusanka is still learning English, she made every effort to communicate with me and we used (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) translate when necessary. She was nice enough to take me with her when she went to Trebinje and I was happy that I had the chance to explore an interesting little city I might not have thought to visit otherwise. Look no further if you are looking for a peaceful retreat and a place where you feel like family. I would be happy to book here again if I'm in the area in the future. Thank you Kristina and Dusanka for everything!

I grew up and lived here until July last year when I moved to the USA. I like exploring new places and finding new interesting things to do. I know every single pocket of Dubrovnik and our area, and I would like to recommend and share some interesting places with you. Feel comfortable to contact me at any time; my mother will be your host for your stay at our home and she will help you with anything you might need.
