The Space

As someone who is an artist of sorts and has studied the face as a focus, with a great interest in psychology and human nature (pooch nature too , but then we are all animals!, they are just sweeter than most humans) I prefer seeing photos of the guests that are inquiring about my room, I am more comfortable having female guests or couples and might consider a small house broken pooch, if it enjoys other dogs (mine)
Summer is beginning and the many flowers will be blooming in our beautiful Ft Tryon Park (right next to the park, which also houses the Cloisters Museum) There is always a cool breeze up here in Northern Manhatten, even when the heat of NY beats in midtown. A lovely view from 2 windows in your room It is a musical home with a radio in bedroom and wifi available. A full new mattress, with a window bench and chair in bedroom with dresser and place to hang clothes. There is a DVD player/tv. There are books to read and a sweet sounding piano to play. While here, you may use my bicycle for a small fee. I offer up breakfast foods until 11am (always yogurt and granola available) and may occasionally offer dinner. Minimum cooking allowed.. I have a darling pooch that is very clean, respectful and loving , I have a health oriented home kitchen and would prefer like minded guests. Preference for guests who will have a busy schedule and not for those wanting to stay in, but instead for those wanting to tour and have an active schedule while in NYC
Its a quiet and calm environment to hang your hat while in exciting NYC. Right next to the A train and 1 block from the 1 train. You are on 59th street in 20 minutes!!
A classical music environment to be shared with a mature lady who enjoys a quiet type home while she is painting portraits, reading or caring for her loveable pooch, and making her guests feel at home. I have enjoyed the company of many of my guests and hope that you and I will also enjoy your time in my home perhaps a toast of wine or cup of tea to toast to your visit and adventure in this great city that is NEW YORK

Guest Access

I have a bicycle that is available for use with deposit .

Interaction with Guests

thats really up to my guests and I try to take clues from them, but of course, if we enjoy one anothers company that is an extra dividend !!!

The Neighborhood

I love the aspect that we have a most beautiful park right here in the "hood"", Fort Tryon Park. For runs, for walks, for yoga, meditation or conversations and a great restaurants in the park called "New Leaf Cafe"".
In addition the neighborhood is a quieter retreat from the hustle and bustle and mania that can sometimes be NYC

Getting around

One reason I moved here is the easy breezy access to the express A train, which is just across the street. In addition the 1 train is only 1 block away. We are right near broadway and for some great shopping , at lower costs thatn downtown, you can take a 7bus or the 1 train up to Riverdale for great shopping.

Other Things to Note

I think my home and situation is much better suited for female guests. With the proximity of coziness , i think this suits us better . Of course, couples are also invited to stay as my guest.

  • My daughter and I stayed with Zannie for four nights while we were visiting from Seattle. We were very happy our accommodations. Zannie is extremely friendly, interesting and helpful. She even had a nice dinner for us when we arrived at 8:00 on a Sunday night. Her apartment is clean and cozy, the bed is comfortable, and Sweety is, well, a real sweetie. It turned out that the building was just a block from where I lived for a short time thirty years ago. The neighbor hasn’t changed much; it doesn’t have much charm, but it’s close to Fort Tryon Park and the Cloisters and very convenient to two subway lines. I would stay with Zannie again.

  • My sister and I stayed with Zannie and Sweety for almost a week. We had a great time here in a Cozy Musical Creative Hideaway. Since the moment we arrive Zannie was always very attentive with us. We had every day something to eat for breakfast and Internet service was available too. Sweety is the perfect dog, always happy to see you, his name goes perfectly with his character.
All the areas were very clean and we had our space to unpacked and have everything organize for our vacation. Zannie likes to talk and I love that, this makes me feel HOME. The apartment is super close (I would say less than a minute) to the A train, this is the train you’ll need, and the Fort Tyron Park where you can walk and relax if you need it. We feel so thankful for Zannie and Sweety that my words can’t express my gratitude to them.

  • I stayed with Zannie for a week and she is a lovely person, and her apartment was a wonderful place to stay while in New York! The location is great, really close to the A train, which takes about 20 minutes to get to midtown with, and the neighbourhood is really quiet and pretty. I highly recommend staying with Zannie if you come to New York!

  • If you want to experience the authentic New Yorker lifestyle, then I strongly suggest that you stay at this place. It has been a great joy for us to meet her. The place is clean and the venue is easily accessible as it is so close to the subway station. The host is warm, helpful and kind. She will do her best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Thumbs up for this place!!!!

  • I stayed with Susan for 5 nights in April 2013 when I was in the city to attend a bridal shower. While quite far uptown, her home is very convenient to the A (express) train and the 1. It is just a few blocks from one entrance to the lovely Ft Tryon park where I enjoyed my morning exercise. She was a most gracious hostess, sharing a glass of wine and conversation over Chinese delivery after showing me around the neighborhood my first evening. The bed is so comfortable and she had made ample room for me to hang my clothing and unpack. The apartment is clean and the shower water was hot! One morning before I left for my day, I joined her for a shopping trip to her favorite secret spots.
I am a 58 year old female and mother, and I would not hesitate to let my daughter stay here. I felt very safe in the apartment and neighborhood and Susan will be like a second mother to any young woman. Unless you are allergic, do not let her dog discourage you from staying here. Sweetie is just that, quiet and respectful.

  • My experience in NYC with Zannie was great! The apartment is very artistic and cosy and Zannie was so welcoming. We had a few nice chats together but I was out and about for most of the time I was in NYC (4 days) and wished I could've spent a bit more time with her but I definitely would like to come back soon! Thank you Zannie :-)

  • Great experience in NYC. Cozy apartment, awesome host and great location.
We had a wonderful experience. Everything has been perfect.
Te apartment is great located (1 minute walk to A train and 3 minutes walk to 1 train). Neighborhood is very safe, with a great park near by, convenience stores, restaurants and dines.
Zannie is a great host. We have been in contact since we booked. She has been so helpful and answered all my questions right away. She shared with us really nice wine and conversation every night and also breakfast in the morning.
The apartment is very cozy and clean. We had fresh towels and linen waiting for us.
Zannie was always willing to help us with NYC and neighborhood tips.
And… do not worry about the dog. He is so nice, clean and well behaved.
I strongly recommend cozy musical heaven for your NYC visit.
Thank you very much, Zannie, and thank you Airbnb!

I am a mature lady, with a great love for music, faces, and dogs. I paint portraits and sing as a hobby and adore classical music , with my current favorite, Cesar Francks violin & piano 4th movement piece. I prefer my guests to have respect for my home and a courtesy and decency that should be performed in any setting, especially as a guest in someone's home. I as a host, will do everything to make them comfortable, safe and respect their need for privacy. I am a mother of aN ivy leage graduate actor/musical theater, etc son, with an ever present empty nest syndrome. This has led me to share my apartment with mostly young actresses and opera singers, who have shared their talents, enthusiasm and knowledge with me, since I also love to sing. I am health oriented and occasionally may offer to share my food with my guests. I am tidy, and clean and expect my guest to be of a similar inclination. As a dog lover , I most recently acquired a darling spaniel, mix who is the most wonderful, sweet loving easy going pooch Ive ever had. I prefer another dog lover to share my home Im a mellow and fun old gal who enjoys the beauty and enthusiasm that is "youth". Bring your musical voice, your creative ideas or just come with your ambitions and zest and share my abode .
