This isn't your average coastal Virginia rental - this is our first home! Stay in our 1950's cottage on Main Street right on the edge of Downtown Mathews, that we like to call "A Touch of Grey". Here you will discover our love for music, skateboarding, and Volkswagens all throughout our home.
The space
Take a step into our foyer full of posters, artwork, and knickknacks collected through our love for music and travel. At the end of the hallway you'll find our coveted record collection ready to set the tone for morning, evening, or night. Discover our taste in music through our love of jam bands, funk, reggae, and more. (We recommend anything Keller Williams for a Sunday morning spin while making breakfast, it's become our weekend tradition!!)
Our living room boasts a larger couch and smaller loveseat, ready for you to unwind while you watch the newest episode from your favorite streaming service. Be sure to check out Jeff's skateboard collection that he's been acquiring for over a decade, including a few from now professional skaters he grew up skating with in Chesapeake!
Our fully stocked kitchen is ready for you to prepare any meal or heat up leftovers from one of the many restaurants in Mathews. Almost all of the restaurants are within walking distance (0.7 mi or less!).
There is both a washer and dryer located in the laundry room (with detergent), so you don't have to take the sand home with you. (We hope that you take time to explore the many public beaches while you're here!!) The bathroom is located down the hall with a full sized bathtub and plenty of fresh extra towels for use during your stay.
Unwind in one of our two bedrooms, which can easily sleep 4 in total. The first bedroom at the front of the house has a queen sized bed, hypoallergenic pillows, and an antique wardrobe to store your items. (We also have some board games stored in there, too!) The second bedroom in the rear of the house features a twin size day bed with a trundle. There is plenty of storage space in both the dresser and small closet for your belongings during your stay. Feel free to use the rolling trundle bed or let us know in advance so we can have it set up before your arrival.
You can also use our back door keypad for access directly from the driveway into the kitchen. The same entry code will work for both doors.
** Please note: we live in a rural area where our water source is a well. We have a water softener, but the water is still extremely hard. We provide a water dispenser in the kitchen for all of your drinking and cooking needs. **
This is not a pet friendly rental. Anyone who violates this policy will be subject to a $100 pet fee in addition to the regular cleaning fee.
Guest access
You'll have access to our entire home.
Other things to note
Once you've settled in, walk to one of the local restaurants or shops only 1/4 of a mile away.
On Saturday mornings from April through October, visit the Mathews Farmer's Market for local goods, handmade crafts, and homegrown vegetables and flowers.
Upon your return, soak in some sunshine on our shaded front yard bench while watching the traffic pass by. For us, it doesn't get much better in the afternoons than cracking a cold one and unwinding from the hustle and bustle of every day while watching passersby until dusk and retreating into our home to spin some records while we prepare dinner.
We hope that you find a piece of us by sharing our love for music, skateboarding, VWs, and travel all throughout our home. We have put a lot of love and life into our home in the past 7 years and we can only hope that you find our home to be as much of a sanctuary as we do!
