  • Staying with Tim was a godsend as we moved to New York. We arrived in the dark and Tim made sure he was there to greet us and give us keys. He helped us carry our bags up the three floor walk-up and immediately offered us a beer. The room was clean and had plenty of maps to get us around the area, blankets to keep us warm, and storage for our things (mainly a closet and dresser).

His apartment is set up in a way that there is plenty of common space to work and relax in so that you are not confined to your bedroom (even though that is quite large and a desk and couch are provided.) His kitchen is fully stocked with cookware that he kindly let us use, he even cooked for us a few times!

The neighborhood is very safe feeling, and 2ish blocks to the subway. Its about a 10 minute walk to the grocery store and only a fifteen minute walk to the park that has great views of Manhattan.

Overall Tim was great and his place was great. He was probably the best person we could have stayed with as we moved. He is easy to get along with and is a very respectful roommate and host. My only advice to people is to make sure you bring earplugs if noise affects your sleeping, the furnace is a little loud and there were a couple louder nights in general. Enjoy!

Thanks for everything Tim! Best of luck!

  • Tim is one of the nicest, most easy going people I have had the pleasure to meet during my time in New York. The apartment is a stones throw from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan, and a short walk from the subway. Astoria is an incredibly safe neighborhood and I would recommend it to anyone.

The apartment for me has been a home away from home, spacious for New York standards, and well maintained. As a roommate, Tim has become one of my great friends in the city and someone I know I will stay in touch with. Thanks TZ!

  • Best. Host. Ever. First time I was using Airbnb and also my first time in the US and we had a blast. My friend and I really felt like home at Tim's. Ideally located in a safe neighbourhood, next to the subway (2mn walk from Astoria boulevard), you are in Central Park or Time Square in 10/15 mn. The bed is confy and the couch is just freaking awesome! Tim gave us priceless advices about NY, cooked for us and even fixed my friend's laptop at 1 am before our departure. Definitely considering Tim's apartment if I had to come back to NY!

  • Astoria Queens is a great place! It is quiet, more suburban and very safe. Tim's place is a 4 minute walk to the Astoria Blvd N,Q train station which takes you to Manhattan in about 15 minutes.
The place itself is in the third floor of a small town house. It is super clean, a great comfy bed in your own room, a nice kitchen with everything you need and a nice big TV with an lazy boy couch in the living room. Also there is a TV in your own room.
Tim is a great guy. He is fun to hang out with, we watched TV together and had nice conversations. He also respects your privacy. I stayed for a little more than a month with him, I had a great time and don't regret it a bit. I highly recommend this place to stay in NY. It allows you to see more then just Manhattan without being inconveniently far away at an affordable price.

  • Tim's place is in a good location right near the metro so it's an easy shot into the city. The area of Astoria where he is located is near good shops and restaurants. I was actually apartment searching from Tim's place and we were immediately successful! When Tim discovered I'd found my own apartment before my schedule stay with him was finished, he graciously reimbursed me for the remainder of my stay.

  • Staying at Tim's house in New York is almost like living in YOUR OWN everyday house. He'll make you feel it that way.

His house is tidy, clean, comfortable, and big. It's not usual to find all those facilities within ONE same place...

And Tim deserves a special paragraph all for himself: he is really very nice, and without exaggerating he is a great host: he will help you whenever you need his help.

Regarding the neighbor, I would definitely choose again Astoria as the place where to stay if I plan another trip to NYC. Astoria is cheaper, cleaner, safer ( We came back at 2 am in the morning every night and we never had not even one strange situation on the streets!) and it's not as overcrowded as NYC. You get to Manhattan in just 15 minutes with the subway and what's more, living in Astoria gives you a more real idea of how a "real" United States's neighbor looks like.

I definitely encourage you to rent Tim's place of your are looking forward to visit NY.

  • Where to start... the room was great with a very comfy bed and couch plus Tim had provided maps and other travel essentials which were very helpful during our stay. The house is clean and well kept and super cool :) Location was perfect, Astoria is a beautiful neighbourhood (the pool in Astoria Park is A-Mazing and only a few blocks from Tim's place) and its only a short walk to the subway station and just a few stops til you're in Manhattan! Tim is awesome!! He showed us the city and reccommended some great places and things to do. He's incredibly nice, generous and heaps of fun to be around :) Overall thanks to Tim we had the time of our life in NYC. We would definitely stay there again and reccommend it to anyone looking to go to New York! :)

  • Fantastico! The apartment is perfect for visiting NY, and Astoria is close to all the most interesting places to see. But above all, the room is clean and the rest of the house is comfortable and very pretty.
The host is very friendly, helpful and kind.
If you are planning to make a trip to NY, Tim's apartment is perfect .. we will definitely be back to visit!
