Ensure door is locked upon leaving and you have the keys.
Also, try to be quiet when walking up the stair to the apartment late at night. My landlords live below; they're nice people, but they complain sometimes.
Tim is the best host you can meet! He' s kind, funny, and also a good guitar player. :-) The apartment is clean, big and comfortable. The room is spacious and luminous. Astoria is a quiete area, residential, not far from Manhattan. The metro stop Astoria Boulevard is 5 minutes from the apartment, and it takes only 15 minutes to Manhattan. In 3 words: a wonderful experience!
I have only positives from my stay with Tim, great space great location and great host . I easily and highly
Recommend this listing.
Tim was a great host, we arrived late at night and her was right there to meet us out front and help us carry our luggage up the stairs. The room was amazing and had everything you need, with heaps of maps for all of NYC, cable TV with hundreds of channels and a really big bed with loads of cupboard space. Everything was clean, the place really felt like a home away from home.
Great location as the place is a 3min walk to the subway which gets to you Times Square in around 10-15 min, there are also loads of takeaway options around the area if your looking for a cheap quick bite Tim was kind enough to take me and my girlfriend to the Village Halloween Parade which was an amazing experience. We also watched Walking Dead together every Sunday, really felt like home.
Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short due to some issues back home in Australia, with Tim helping us out through the process with airbnb. Tim was an outstanding host and I would highly recommend this place if your looking for an affordable place to stay in NYC.
This room was perfect, awesome, gorgeous ! Since the beginning, we were like in our house, even if we didn’t speak english so well.
Tim was an amazing host, he is funny and very kind, ok for doing everything (going out, talking) , watching TV, cooking…) but he didn’t put pressure on us ! Every day was a pleasure to see him, in the morning before working, or after.
This apartment is very cool, with all accommodations. The kitchen is clean, the bathroom too and the room is confortable.
Morover, it’s really close to Manathan (15 min by train) and even in the night it’s very easy to come back at home!
The neighborhood is totally safe, there are shops open all night long, and during the day it’s very pleasant to live there, there is not noise (we slept with the widows open!) and it’s very nice to find this quiet place, when we come back from Manathan.
We couldn’t hope something better and we recommend this place to every kind of people (couple, worker, cluber…) !
Thank you Tim for everything ! You were the best roommate ever !
My boyfriend and I had a great time staying with Tim! It's located in a quiet area of Astoria, less than five minutes from the subway into Manhattan (which is a short 15-20 minute journey to midtown). We were there for the US open and he had lots of useful info and tips for getting there and around, plus his TV always had a game showing, which was awesome. He was always up for a chat but gave us the privacy to do our own thing when needed.
The bathroom was nice and clean and the room was as the photos described, with lots of maps, magazines and guides on New York from previous guests. The floor (and especially under the bed) could do with a good clean, but as we were out most of the day, we didn't notice until the end of our trip.
Thanks for a great time, Tim!
GREAT HOST ! Tim is welcoming, easy to talk to and friendly. He is a respectful host. Our room was comfortable and there were a lot of pamphlets to help us to discover New York City and some subway maps, very useful. Fortunately there was the air conditionning which was a godsent.
Astoria is a very nice neighborhood with a lot of restaurants and the subway is about 5 minutes of walk from Tim's house and then it takes about 15 minutes to be in Times Square.
Be aware there are some restrictions for the parking in the streets during the week.
We felt at home and we would be pleased to come back at Tim's House !
Staying with Tim was a godsend as we moved to New York. We arrived in the dark and Tim made sure he was there to greet us and give us keys. He helped us carry our bags up the three floor walk-up and immediately offered us a beer. The room was clean and had plenty of maps to get us around the area, blankets to keep us warm, and storage for our things (mainly a closet and dresser).
His apartment is set up in a way that there is plenty of common space to work and relax in so that you are not confined to your bedroom (even though that is quite large and a desk and couch are provided.) His kitchen is fully stocked with cookware that he kindly let us use, he even cooked for us a few times!
The neighborhood is very safe feeling, and 2ish blocks to the subway. Its about a 10 minute walk to the grocery store and only a fifteen minute walk to the park that has great views of Manhattan.
Overall Tim was great and his place was great. He was probably the best person we could have stayed with as we moved. He is easy to get along with and is a very respectful roommate and host. My only advice to people is to make sure you bring earplugs if noise affects your sleeping, the furnace is a little loud and there were a couple louder nights in general. Enjoy!
Thanks for everything Tim! Best of luck!
