Rule No. 1. Be kind to Bob and Behemoth (the cats). They are the real hosts, who never really leave the apartment and know every tiny corner of it.
Rule No. 2. When you close the balcony doors, make sure that Bob and Behemoth are inside. They don't like being left out of their own apartment.
Rule No. 3. No loud partying or music after 10 P.M. It may upset the neighbors and they may call police, which in turn will probably upset you as well as me. @-)
Rule No. 4. Don't leave the balcony doors open at night when you go to sleep or when you leave the apartment. You can never be too careful.
Rule No. 5. Don't open the door to strangers. If you are not expecting anyone just ignore the door bell. Hosts will contact you in advance before coming and besides, they have their own keys.
Rule No. 6. Any questions, problems, requests, complaints or just need a useful practical info? Contact the hosts.
Lasha was great, he was there to greet us when we arrived and helped explain trams, buses, etc. to and from his house. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and it's easy to get to Amsterdam from the apartment (trams run regularly and it's at most 20 minutes to the center). The cats were lovely as well!
This apartment felt like a safe, cozy home after the long journey I had undertaken. Lela, the woman who lives there with her daughter, was the most comforting, welcoming person. She was super accommodating and friendly, she explained to me how to get around easily and made me feel at home. The neighborhood is nice, and the door to the building is a 2 minute walk from the tram stop, so very convenient. Also the bus stop where you can catch a bus to/from the airport is equally close. Although not close to the city center, the location of the apartment is comfortably outside the buzz of the city center and offers easy transport to nightlife and restaurants.
Last but not least, the cats are a wonderful addition to the property. They are friendly and playful! I really enjoyed my stay in this home, it made my Amsterdam experience an unforgettable one. The host was extremely open and positive, and I enjoyed our conversations.
When I stayed in Amsterdam Lasha was in Giorgia, so I didn't have a chance to meet him. But I met his friend Lela who was very kind and patient with me:) She gave me all the directions I needed to get to the museums and the airport as well. Lela is also the kind of person that You could talk all night long:) And there were 2 black cats in the flat as well looking for some attention, but I guess with them the place felt more like a real home.
I didn't really interact with Lasha that much, but he was a congenial host when I saw him, offered me lots of help with getting to his place, a cup of tea when I arrived, etc. The cats were also quite solicitous.
That being said, I would probably not choose to stay here again. I think that this apartment desperately needs to be deep cleaned and renovated to be up to modern standards, and the 40 minutes of tram travel to the city center (with extremely limited late-night service) was too much of a commute for me. Additionally, the radiator in my room stopped working on my last evening, and Lasha seemed resigned to the idea that we couldn't do anything about it until the next day, when a repairman might be called. Since it was -1 outside, and the room has a large window and a door to the balcony, you can imagine how uncomfortable I was. I bled the radiator with a set of pliers that Lasha provided to me and fixed the immediate issue, but the response to the situation left a bad taste in my mouth.
Lasha's place was cosy and the cats are adorable! He also came to pick us from the tram stop. Thank you!
Lasha is an amazing host! We got to Amsterdam really late, around 2.30 am and he waited for us in order to give us the keys. We rented the whole appartement for 2 nights (there was 5 of us) and it was perfect. Won't hesitate to stay there again if I go back to Amsterdam.
