Other Things to Note
The main floor of the house has a sofa sectional and the dining room is just plain. My room is off to the side of the main living room. I have two doors to that room. The kitchen is huge and when the weather gets better it is a perfect space for gathering for all.
This is a non-smoking household. This is also the historic district . there are steps in this Victorian House. This is on the 2nd floor. I am on the first floor if needed.
Kathleen was a great host - very pleasant and eager to make sure I was comfortable. The place was as expected, and I had a very nice visit. I like the neighborhood - very walkable and with church bells ringing the changes on a Sunday. Recommended.
Kathleen was a delightful hostess who was very accomodating, friendly, and helpful. The rooms were very ample sized with unexpected features which included a small fridge, dining utensils including a wine opener. The beds were very comfortable and we slept very well.A treat of fresh stawberries was a welcoming gesture that did not go unnoticed. Walking about town was easy to all of the shops and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would love to return someday. Highly recommend this home for anyone wishing to stay in Charelston. So much more inviting than a hotel could ever be.
We were a party of 3 visiting Charleston for the weekend, and had booked with Kathleen.
What a great place! The house is massive, and the rooms are so spacious and well kept. We were also really impressed with how close to the city centre the place is.
Kathleen is an amazing host, and very helpful for us. Her pancakes in the morning were to die for:-)
We would recommend visiting Charleston, and definitely booking with Kathleen, it has been a wonderful experience!
Kathleen was the perfect host and was helpful and understanding when we missed our flight and arrived later than planned. Her place is a beautiful (and big) Victorian and the suite was perfect for us. The king size bed was very comfortable too. The house is close to many restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Highly recommend!
This huge old house has many stories to tell... high ceilings, antiques, gracious host too. Kathleen treated us so well - we only stayed for two nights, and chose this house in the old part of town because it's just two blocks from King Street. Do not expect flat walls, smooth lines and all white decor. This house is a mixture of everything you can think of. If you get the room with the claw foot tub just remember that all baths used to be this big! If you get the little suite with the H U G E bed, don't hurt those little chairs in the eating area - Kathleen is going to save them for ME! There are lots of old things around- out on the landing is a wardrobe with an antique christening robe, just hanging there for you to look at. We arrived during a "too early" hot spell; sticky, tired and general having had enough. Kathleen offered the names of two local restaurants, went out to one to bring back a menu, and before we could consider where to go offered - "or I can cook tallapia burritos for you". (I think she felt sorry for these weary Brits!) Delicious supper thanks Kathleen, and we all went out together the next night. A wonderfully eccentric stay! She does not normally provide suppers, so we thought her so kind. a lovely and lively host is Kathleen
Can't wait to begin reading the "Mac-adventures." Had such a memorable time with you both and so happy you
picked our abode. Hoping to see you both again and will keep you informed about the future of the house I call, "faulty Towers", the imperfect place but often filled with hilarity.
Kathleen is simply the best.
The house is gorgeous and looks even better in real life than on the pictures.
It was an incredible experience and I would love to come back.
The beautiful Victorian home was located within a quick walk to several great shops and restaurants on King St. The room was as advertised - roomy with a comfortable king sized bed, sofa, bathroom, and eating area with fridge/coffee maker.
As nice as the home and room were, though, Kathleen is really the star of the show. Despite our flight being delayed past midnight, she greeted us and made us feel welcome. She also gave friendly tips and travel advice top help us navigate Charleston. Her homemade biscuits were outstanding! Lastly, after we left, she called to let us know that she found my wife's sunglasses and mailed them to our home.
It's rare that one encounters this level of kindness and hospitality, and it made our quick vacation all the more refreshing.

I think you will love the location as we ride our bikes and walk everywhere. The home was built in 1887 and we are hoping Charleston will soon change their bed and breakfast laws where we can be an official bed and breakfast. At present we will be offering our main house for family gatherings.
